One of my New Years resolutions is to step up my manicure game. Last year, taking care of nails took a back seat to taking care of Westley. But now that my son is 18 months old and a little more equipped at occupying himself with the tons of toys I lavish upon him (he is truly a spoiled pretty baby), I have more opportunities to stick to the game plan.

Last month, OPI was nice enough to feed my polish addiction by sending me all twelve shades from their new Holland Collection. I was excited by the press release and images OPI sent me in advance of the actual samples, but seeing the colors in person gave me a newfound respect for the genius of Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. If ever there was a polish collection to purchase in its entirety, it’s this one. STUNNING – every single shade!

“Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral and orange hues that capture this energy. The bright lacquers are married with neutrals in new variations like red clay and sea green.”

A sequence of electric brights, including a sun-lit orange (A Roll in The Hague), a hot coral-red (Red Lights Ahead…Where?) and two perfectly pretty pinks (Kiss Me on My Tulips and a light-catching Pedal Faster Suzi!) complement their cooler counterparts in hues of glistening purple (Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI? and Vampsterdam), while elegant neutrals (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Did You ‘ear About Van Gogh? and Wooden Shoe Like to Know?) meet two shimmer-laced blues (I Have a Herring Problem and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!) and a creamy sea green (Thanks a WindMillion).

This post’s manicure comes courtesy of Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI?  – a gorgeous grape with coppery shimmer. Even if you own a plethora of purple-ish polishes, I’d still recommend snatching up this shade. The shimmer makes it one of a kind (sorry that my iPhone couldn’t adequately capture its beauty).

Above left is two coats of Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI?. Below is two coats topped with a layer of Essie Luxeffects Top Coat in Shine of the Times (opalescent flakes in clear base).

I absolutely ADORE this top coat. I’m still patting myself on the back for picking it up – on a whim – at my local Walgreens because it’s such an amazing product. It’s beautiful over any shade and gives your nails a disco glam, gilded look. So, for 8 bucks, you breathe new life into your nail lacquer collection and double your polish possibilities.
