NARS Andy Warhol Collection

Pop art pioneer, filmmaker, and publisher, Andy Warhol was one of the most important visual artists of the 20th century. He joked “art is whatever you can get away with.” A painting, a movie, a TV commercial, an album cover, or an interview with a movie star. For Andy, art could be anything, but whatever he did, he did it as if it were fine art. He made paintings with a photo booth and ‘Screen Tests’ – movies that barely moved. He made an 8-hour movie starring the Empire State Building. He changed the way we see the world.

Andy Warhol’s world has been inspiring François Nars for years. Now NARS introduces a limited edition collection in the spirit of Andy Warhol. From the formulas and shades to the packaging and names, every element of the collection evokes François Nars’ take on the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol.

was searching for any posts on the Nars Andy Warhol collection. Its more personal to me cause I lived at the Chelsea Hotel, and my childhood friends father had made some of andy warhols silkscreens early on, and was a photographer, and later in life he had made silkscreens that looked like the eyeshadow self portraits that you have displayed, I have been looking at this collection, more as memorabilia, this is a part of history, the studio 54 days, and I have many people I know from those days some have passed. But A sort of nostalgia hits, because I know the history behind, and Richard Bernstein also who did work with Warhol, and did the Interview magazine covers, and that crowd which was before my time, but I have relatives who were around durring that time, thanks for writing about it, in the way that you have, giving some insight into the lifestyle and genius of Mr. Warhol. I am a big fan of his work.

I would imagine these will be collectors items and will be flying from shelves so fast with within one shake of a lambs tail. I still think the square shaped, lipglosses are very similar looking to the Revlon Colorburst lip glosses from the Gucci Westman Collection. Very similar looking…
They will probably be selling as collectors items on eBay for double or triple the price, or held onto for quite some time… once they are sold out. I think it was a really clever Idea for Nars to create a collection like this. Who knew silkscreens could create an eye shadow and make the packaging itself a work of art. Turn powdered eyeshadow into eyeshdaow silkscreens that are works of art. I do believe it was Warhol who said “imitation is the greatest form of flattery.” I do think that Nars should have one up’ed MAC with the Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe silkscreens, and the Jackie -o Silkscreens they would have been excellent editions to the line. Cause then he could have had a Marilyn Monroe Kit and a Jackie-O kit, two huge Icons.

I went to NYC over the holidays and a group of friends and I went to NARS to have our makeup done. I walked out with the whole Andy Warhol Collection! I absolutely love them!
