Hey Guys! As you all know the weather lately has been terrible and most of us have been getting all kinds of horrible colds and the flu, as a result. This is very personal for me because I work in retail and it seems like I get one disease after the other with all of my customers constantly sneezing and coughing on me while I do their makeup. So in an effort to expedite my wellness, I came up with a top ten must-haves to get better faster. Jess tested and Jess approved. LOL. Anyway, here you go in no particular order:
#1. Fresh Sake Bath Soak – Sake Bath is a purifying soak comprised of over 50% detoxifying sake that works to ease body tension and promote relaxation while leaving the skin incredibly soft, smooth, and moisturized. The delicately foaming formula was inspired by ancient beauty rituals of Japanese Geisha who were known to use sake to purify and soften their skin, and its luxurious lush scent comes from their tradition of infusing baths with real persimmons. On a personal note, I can literally feel the ick leaving my body when I soak in this. It’s a must have.
#2. Tiger Balm – Tiger Balm offers quick relief for nasal discomfort and cold symptoms like blocked noses and nasal congestion. With quick acting ingredients of herbal origin, Tiger Balm is the choice alternative remedy to keep close in chilly weather and cold office environments. Rub it on your chest to relieve congestion, on your temples to relieve a sinus headache and under your nose to open nasal passages and to treat flakey skin around the nose. Brilliant!
#3. Eucerin Redness Relief Night Cream – For visibly red skin, it’s a dermatological skincare hydrating formula with natural licochalcone, a skin soothing extract of licorice root. This unique gel-creme soothes and calms dry, uncomfortable skin. Perfect for puffy red flu faces. It has a gentle formula that minimizes the risk of irritation and is completely fragrance-free, oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermagologist recommended.
#4. The Body Shop Lip Care Stick in Translucent – This product is made with Community Fair Trade marula oil which is sourced from the Eudafano Women’s Co-Operative in Namibia. This little product is helping 1,750 women to earn a fair income. The women involved say the benefits go beyond money, as the project also gives them business management skills, a sense of independence and greater confidence. Marula oil sinks into the skin instead of creating a false barrier like chapstick, treating and hydrating severely chapped and damaged lips. Lips feel better immediately and I feel my lips come complete back to normal in about 2-3 days. Awesome product and super fast results.
#5. Emergen-C immune support – The super-charged Emergen-C Immune+ dietary supplement supports your immune system with the key nutrients your body needs, plus a propriety complex with beta-glucans and arabinogalactans. This product is lightly sweetened and is super fizzy. I feel a boost of energy…and, hey, we can all use a good preventative product.
#6. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge – for Lips and Cheeks. Put the color back in your face. Look more awake and alive despite your flu. This is a best-selling, multitasking cream color that gives cheeks and lips a healthy, natural-looking flush. What it does: This cream-based formula is great on both lips and cheeks for a sheer, stained finish and is available in a wide array of color choices for a variety of skin tones. My favorite for feeling alive again? Calypso Coral of course!
#7. Lush Fizz O`Therapy– Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a huge fan of Lush bath bombs. This one is key for you sick beauties. Loosen up with a Fizzy O’Therapy in the tub when your body is feeling the strain. If you’ve wound yourself up like a pretzel at the yoga studio, spun one too many times in spinning class or just spent too long hunched over the computer, drop one of these in the tub and let it go to work soothing tense, sore muscles. It’s a spicy Bath Bomb with ginger, cloves, cinnamon and coriander to help you unwind.
#8. Bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Mask – This is a frothy mask that releases oxygen into the skin, so your complexion is instantly brighter, fresher, and younger-looking. It instantly delivers a shot of oxygen in a powerhouse form of vitamin C, time-released antioxidants, and a moisture fix, to spiff up your complexion when it’s looking and feeling lackluster. This mask is inspired by Bliss Spa’s most-famous facial, which leaves skin feeling energized and supports natural metabolism, collagen synthesis, and detoxification.
#9. Tea and Honey – Try this combo from herbalist Brooke Petry`s company Bogberry Dryer Balls! Calming Immunity Herbal Tea Blend- This tea has herbs that have been used for centuries to soothe the nervous system, calm the mind, and boost immunity. Best at the end of the day, it helps you unwind and prepare for restful sleep. Elderberries are included to boost immunity for cold and flu season. This blend contains: lemon balm, catnip (which has the opposite effect on humans that it does on cats), hops, passion flower, lemon verbena and elderberries. All of the herbs in this blend are either grown by or certified organic. It has a light, lemony flavor and tastes great with or without honey, hot or cold. Also try her Lady Health Honey -local Pennsylvania honey infused with certified organic herbs and wildcrafted herbs. Raspberry Leaf, Nettle, Catnip, Motherwort, Oatstraw, and Chammomile soothe the senses and tonify the body. These herbs are packed with nutrients, as well as calming and centering. Electuaries are NOT strained – so stir before you eat! They ground the herbs very finely, and the flavor is not obtrusive. Enjoy stirred into warm milk (with a shot of your favorite whiskey?) before bed, spread on toast in the morning, use in cooking, or just eat by the spoonful. You can buy these awesome products at the Bogberry Dryer Balls website.
#10. Matzo Ball Soup – Find a nice Jewish grandmother and have her cook for you. If not, try to muster the strength to make it yourself and if you have exhausted both of those options, buy this. This stuff really works. There is a reason it’s called Jewish penicillin!
Feel better, Kids! Spring is right around the corner so I hope I can get you all back on schedule to be fabulous by St. Patty’s weekend! Feel free to leave more tips and tricks to beat this flu season below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
