If you surveyed the perfumes on my vanity, you’d surely notice that the common thread amongst my favorites is vanilla. Most days, I smell like some variation of vanilla. But as I get older, I’m constantly searching for a more sophisticated take on the scent. I love vanilla, but I’m a little too mature to be walking around smelling like cupcakes.
So I was thrilled to recently make the acquaintance of Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black (there’s also a Nirvana White) – a sensual, modern interpretation of my favorite flava. The perfume is an addictive blend of violet, sandalwood, and rich vanilla that strike the perfect balance between masculine and feminine.
I was sent a bottle of Nirvana Black to review – and to be honest – the first time I tried it on, I wasn’t completely sold. But after it wore off, the cravings began. I wanted it more and more…and now I can’t get enough. Nirvana Black has quickly become my number one steady, and we’ve been monogamous for at least the past month. The only thing I’d change is the staying power. It fades a little too quickly for my liking, so I’ve been layering it with the Nirvana Black Body Oil – which I sometimes smooth into my hair.
Nirvana Black isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a bold scent for a badass woman. The perfume is so unique and unexpected that it’s hard to describe what makes it so special. But here’s my attempt and hopefully you’ll get where I’m going…
Personified, this perfume is Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith – fierce and feminine.
Nirvana Black is a Sephora exclusive.
