One of my favorite things in life is to de-stress with a relaxing massage. But sometimes, a massage can be downright stress-inducing. At many popular spa/salons, massage appointments can book up pretty far in advance – so you have to schedule weeks, even months, ahead of time. And if something comes up and you have to reschedule, well, you get the picture. Getting to your massage can be stressful if you live a good distance from the spa and/or take public transportation. And then after your massage, there’s only a finite time you can sit there in a robe and slippers before it’s time to hit the road, Jack. First world problems, I know.

But what if I told you that there’s a service that provides massages without all of the hassle – in the comfort of your own home?

Soothe is a same-day, massage-on-demand service that delivers a licensed, vetted and certified massage therapist to your home, office or hotel room, with as little as 60 minutes advance notice. Services include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Prenatal and Couples massage. Appointments are offered between 8 a.m. and midnight every day of the week, with fixed prices of $99 (60 minute), $139 (90 minute), and $169 (120 minute) per person, regardless of the type of massage selected. And gratuity is included!

Last month, Philadelphia became the 20th city serviced by Soothe and the company reached out to see if I’d like to review for Spoiled Pretty. I’m not sure what kind of dummy would turn down a complimentary rub down, so I said yes. And let me tell you – the experience was stress-free from start to finish.

First, booking a Soothe massage is easy peasy. I simply downloaded the app, selected my massage (90 minute Swedish), and entered my preference for a female massage therapist. Immediately after booking, I received a confirmation. On the morning of my appointment, which just so happened to be a much needed vacation day from work, I turned my living room into my own personal spa. That’s one thing I liked about the Soothe experience, right off the bat – because it’s your turf, you can set the perfect mood.

The room temp is up to you. The lighting is however dim or bright as you like. You can do the whole aromatherapy thing with scented candles and turn on some relaxing music. I went all out and created a ‘Soothe Massage Playlist’ on my iPhone. When my massage therapist, Roberta, arrived, I found her to be equally personable and professional. She got right to work setting everything up, and she had a calming demeanor that really put me at ease.

My massage was 90 minutes of pure zen. Everything about Roberta’s technique was perfect. From the pacing to the amount of pressure to the amount of massage oil. And I swear that when I closed my eyes, she sprouted more fingers because it was like her hands were everywhere at once. Roberta was killing me softly with that massage. And after it was all over and Roberta went on her way, it was so refreshing not to have to rush anywhere. So I stayed in my robe, caught up on Netflix and chilled for the next few hours.

Sounds like the perfect way to spend a day, right? If you’d like to try Soothe for yourself, click here and get $30 off your first massage
