My 5-year-old’s name is Westley. I affectionately call him Wild West because he’s, well, wild—as most boys his age are. And like Westley, his mane has a mind of its own.
It’s thick and curly, grows at an enviable rate (we ladies should be so lucky) and Westley has this swirl pattern in front that creates one crazy cowlick. So when it comes to cutting his hair, the stylist needs to really know what she’s doing. This can’t be her first time at the proverbial rodeo.
For a while, I was taking him to my hair stylist. But as Westley got older, my husband, Graham, took over the task. On the one hand, I’m grateful to Graham for helping out—since most child grooming responsibilities land on my plate, by default. But on the other hand, Graham was taking him to a whole bunch of random barber shops/salons – so there wasn’t any consistency. Sometimes the cut/style would be good and sometimes it would be really bad (like once when he brought Westley home with a buzz cut).
So a few weeks ago when Hair Cuttery contacted me about writing a review (as part of their #MyHCLook campaign), I immediately thought of Westley. It was perfect timing too because his hair was at an awkward length and he desperately needed it cut for spring school pictures. Hair Cuttery provided a gift card to try their services—so Graham took Westley to the closest location and a talented stylist named Debbie gave him a great cut.
Though I didn’t accompany them to the appointment, Graham relayed to me what a great experience they had at Hair Cuttery. Debbie took her time, was very patient with Westley and I am really pleased with the end result. I would definitely take Westley back there again.
Are you in the mood to spring clean your look? This season is full of reasons (bridal showers, weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, date night/girls’ night out) to head to your local Hair Cuttery to switch up your staid style. When I perused their menu of services, I was impressed by how much they do. Of course you can get a shampoo, cut and style. But did you know that you can get color, texture treatments (relaxers and perms) and hair extensions? Well now you know.
