Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

dermadoctor gorilla warfare hair minimizing antiperspirant Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway! My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I’ve got stubble. And forget about skipping days…unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I go through a lot of razors) – it’s also tedious and annoying. There are many days that I make certain clothing choices so I don’t have to go through the trouble of shaving.

So when I heard that one of my favorite skincare brands, DERMAdoctor, has a hair-minimizing antiperspirant, I emailed them with a quickness to ask for a sample I could review for Spoiled Pretty.

Here’s how DERMAdoctor describes Gorilla Warfare:

No need to go ape over jungle-like hair growth and rain forest-level wetness. Stop monkeying around with the ordinary and make peace with two decidedly indelicate concerns with a solution uniquely camouflaged as a daily antiperspirant. It contains fourteen highly evolved botanicals that help turn underarm hair into an endangered species. CONTINUE READING

bath and body works coconut water chill shower gel Bath & Body Works Cooling Gel Lotion Needs A New Name

A few weeks ago, I paid a visit to my local Bath & Body Works store. I was on the hunt for a tropical-smelling body wash that wouldn’t break the bank, and B&BW seemed like a good place to search. When I entered the store, I was greeted my a really nice saleswoman who asked me what I was looking for. I told her I was looking for something coconutty and she recommended their new Cool Coconut Surf Shower Gel. Typically, a bottle would set you back $12.50, but since it’s new, it was only $6. It smelled good and I almost bought it…that is, until I found a bottle of Coconut Water Chill Shower Gel in the clearance bin marked down to $2.75. I liked the scent a little better and the price couldn’t be beat. CONTINUE READING

essio aromatherapy shower kit 2 Turn Your Shower Into a Spa with EssioWhat if I told you that you could turn your shower into a spa-like experience in less than 3 minutes? Well, you can with the ingenious Aromatherapy Shower Kit from Essio. The kit includes a shower head attachment device and three pods of essential oils. Here’s how it works

You clip the attachment device on the shower head. It’s adjustable and works with lots of different kinds of shower heads. Next, you insert one of the essential oil pods into the end of the attachment device. Finally, you remove the pod’s cap and point the nozzle into the running shower water to start the flow of oil – which will start to fill your shower with fragrance.

The flow of oil can be adjusted to your liking. Point the pod nozzle directly in the stream of water for a bold sensory experience. If you prefer more subtle fragrance, angle the nozzle back a bit. This will also help you conserve oil so that you can get more showers out of each pod. CONTINUE READING

L’Occitane Vitoria Regia: Botanical Beauty From Brazil

LOCCITANE VITÓRIA RÉGIA HAND CREAM LOccitane Vitoria Regia: Botanical Beauty From BrazilL’Occitane does a lot right when it comes to making their products – one of my most favorite things about the company is their ability to get the true fragrances of flowers.I had the pleasure of trying Vitoria Regia Hand Cream (above) from the Brazil Collection, and it’s amazing!  The cream is not too thick and it doesn’t leave that sometimes sticky feeling that other lotions have.  As I was applying it I could smell notes of flowers (the Vitoria Regia flower blooms in the rainforest), greens and even powder.  Which is one of my favorite combinations.  It lasted through my work day and through some of my evening workout.  I also love the size of the tube because it easily fits in my makeup bag.

lush cosmetics store Why Lush is Luscious

Hello Spoiled Pretty readers.  I am thrilled to be a contributing writer for SP!  I’ve been looking for a hobby and thought “why don’t I funnel my interests to one place?”  I hope that you enjoy my suggestions as we go through the journey of my new hobby together.

First and foremost – I absolutely LOVE Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics products.  My first experience in one of their stores dates back 5ish years.  My mother, sister and I were on our way home from a Yankees game (a tradition of ours), and we had some time to kill before getting to our train.  We were on 14th Street walking away from Union Square when an adorable young man coaxed us into the shop promising us free facials and hand treatments.  The scent that was pouring out of the door and into the New York City air was intoxicating.  It was sweet and delicious – so we decided to indulge ourselves… CONTINUE READING

Sick woman on couch 10 Beauty Products to Get You Through the Flu

Hey Guys! As you all know the weather lately has been terrible and most of us have been getting all kinds of horrible colds and the flu, as a result. This is very personal for me because I work in retail and it seems like I get one disease after the other with all of my customers constantly sneezing and coughing on me while I do their makeup. So in an effort to expedite my wellness, I came up with a top ten must-haves to get better faster. Jess tested and Jess approved. LOL. Anyway, here you go in no particular order:

fresh sake bath soak 10 Beauty Products to Get You Through the Flu#1. Fresh Sake Bath Soak -  Sake Bath is a purifying soak comprised of over 50% detoxifying sake that works to ease body tension and promote relaxation while leaving the skin incredibly soft, smooth, and moisturized. The delicately foaming formula was inspired by ancient beauty rituals of Japanese Geisha who were known to use sake to purify and soften their skin, and its luxurious lush scent comes from their tradition of infusing baths with real persimmons. On a personal note, I can literally feel the ick leaving my body when I soak in this. It’s a must have.

tiger balm 10 Beauty Products to Get You Through the Flu#2. Tiger Balm – Tiger Balm offers quick relief for nasal discomfort and cold symptoms like blocked noses and nasal congestion. With quick acting ingredients of herbal origin, Tiger Balm is the choice alternative remedy to keep close in chilly weather and cold office environments. Rub it on your chest to relieve congestion, on your temples to relieve a sinus headache and under your nose to open nasal passages and to treat flakey skin around the nose. Brilliant!

Eucerin Redness Relief Night Cream 10 Beauty Products to Get You Through the Flu#3. Eucerin Redness Relief Night Cream -  For visibly red skin, it’s a dermatological skincare hydrating formula with natural licochalcone, a skin soothing extract of licorice root.
