Susana Monaco Flutter Tube Dress

I just had to share how much I adore this Susana Monaco 'Flutter Tube Dress' I just bought from Shopbop.com.  I'm usually very hesitant to buy clothing online because I'm short and curvy and I can't be assured that something will look right until I try it on. And even when I do buy clothes off the Internet, they're CONTINUE READING

Beautiful Things My Mother Taught Me

Mom and me, circa 1979 Disclosure: This post is sponsored by CoverGirl. Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps. I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair)

shampoo Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair) conditioner Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair)
I normally wouldn’t advocate spending more than $15-20 on shampoo or conditioner; but when you have hair with behavioral problems like mine, well, sometimes you’ve gotta pay the cost to be the boss.

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo and White Truffle Nourishing Hair Conditioning Creme impart moisture, elasticity, and shine to chemically processed, dry, or damaged hair. The miracle broth of 23.2% pure botanical extracts (white truffle, lavender, comfrey, thyme, hops, and nettle) instantly disciplined my mane. Usually when I use a new hair product, I need to blow it dry and style it before I notice any difference. With this shampoo and conditioner, I felt the difference in the shower! The only thing I can liken it to is Ritalin for your hair.

At $54 and $75 – stay with me here – these products cost 3 and 4 times what I, a beauty junkie, would typically spend on shampoo and conditioner. But considering how much I generally pay for hair serums, lotions, and potions promising to make my hair behave – I will gladly dig deep into my pockets to fund this addiction.

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo and White Truffle Nourishing Hair Conditioning Creme are on my Spoiled Prettiest: Best of Beauty 2007 list. Philip B products are available for purchase online, and at a beauty supply store near you.

Tea Time

Posted on by daneen in Bath and Body, Body Wash | 1 Comment

A few weeks back, I attended the TotalBeauty.com launch event at Space NK in SoHo, NYC. My trip up from Philadelphia was, let’s put it this way, an adventure. So upon crossing the threshold into the store, I quickly downed two glasses of champagne and perused the inventory with my fellow beauty bloggers – shout out to Marina, Elke, Julia, and Antonia for putting me at ease and making me feel so welcome!

I was introduced to many new brands and products that night, but the one that I immediately regretted not buying was the Thai Tea Body Wash from Philip B. Seriously, I was on Amtrak riding back to Philly thinking, “Why didn’t I get that body wash? It smelled sooo yummy.” After a week of hemming and hawing, I broke down and decided I had to have it; and it’s been a fixture in my shower caddy ever since.

thaitea Tea TimeInspired by Philip B.’s journey through Asia, Thai Tea Body Wash is enriched with 20% pure botanical plant extracts indigenous to Thailand. Ingredients include Thai Tea (rich in antioxidants), honey (moisturizes), coconut oil (softens skin), milk proteins (gently exfoliates), peppermint (stimulates circulation), lemon grass (normalizes oil production), ginger root (soothes skin), and citronella (deodorizes and balances oil production).

The smell is sweet, yet invigorating (it reminds me of the spa) and is the perfect AM pick-me-up I need before starting my day. It foams well, and tingles a little on the skin – thanks to the peppermint oil.

At $40 (you can get it at Amazon.com for $35) it’s pricey; when I first saw the cost of the Thai Tea Body Wash, my eyes were as big as saucers…don’t ya just love my puns? But a little goes a long way, so don’t use a cup when a teaspoon will do (there I go again) and use a loofah to extend the life of the 12 oz. bottle.

This Holiday, I Wish You Laughter

giftwrap2 This Holiday, I Wish You Laughter
Here’s one thing you probably don’t know about me. I am an expert gift wrapper. I take pleasure in the holidays, not just for obvious reasons, but because it gives me the opportunity to flaunt my knack for gift wrap.

But I recognize that not everyone is as gifted as yours truly…gifted, get it?

[Crickets]

spacenk laughter This Holiday, I Wish You LaughterSo if you’ve got any last-minute gifts to buy, here’s a suggestion. The bath and body products from Space NK are fantastically fragrant, and the gift sets come in the most charming packages – so there’s no wrapping required!

Space NK’s founder, Nicky Kinnaird’s travels inspired the indulgent products. Of the line’s many scent options, I prefer Laughter – which is fragranced with “an uplifting blend of lime, rosemary and juniper enlivened by an unexpected sweet, spicy bite of ginger.”

The Ultimate Experience in Laughter is a perfect introduction to the Space NK Bath & Body range; it includes Body Wash, Body Balm, Bath Oil, Soap, two Bath Tablets, Travel Candle, and Eau de Toilette.
