If You Have Hair, The Wet Brush is a Must Have

For years, I have used an oversized wide-tooth comb to detangle my notoriously impossible to detangle post-shampoo hair. The amount of hair that would get caught in the teeth was somewhat alarming. But I chalked it up to the fact that I only wash my hair once a week - so maybe the hair loss really wasn't all that CONTINUE READING

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Cover April Issue of Vogue

Welp, folks, it looks like Kanye finally wore Anna Wintour down and got his baby mama a coveted Vogue cover. So the rumors were true. There was buzz a few months back that Kim would cover the fashion bible, but then everyone assumed it would be a foreign Vogue - given Anna's alleged aversion to all things Kardashian. Not Your Average Jo

For what seems like forever, I’ve heard beauty editors go on and on about Jo Malone. I had yet to hear someone find fault with the products, which I thought was a bit fishy. So I tried their new White Jasmine & Mint line to see if the brand merits all of the rave reviews. OMG. I am completely enamored with Jo – you don’t even know. The products absolutely deserve every accolade I’ve read and heard. They deserve more, in fact – thus my subsequent stellar appraisal.

Last fall, Jo Malone debuted White Jasmine & Mint Cologne – a fragrance “inspired by a tranquil moment in an English garden when the sun emerges, the dew gently lifts and the blossoms are at their most fragrant. Notes of just-picked white jasmine, chamomile, wild mint, rose and coriander are entwined in this lush combination.”

In March 2008, Jo Malone introduced four new offerings to the collection – White Jasmine & Mint Bath Oil, Shower Gel, Body Crème and Home Candle.

The quality of these products is beyond compare. If I were to search my mental lexicon and come up with a phrase that best describes Jo Malone, it would be sumptuous indulgence. And the fragrance…where do I begin? The White Jasmine & Mint scent is an elegant, crisp recipe that is decidedly feminine – womanly, not girly.

jm candle Not Your Average JoThe White Jasmine & Mint Home Candle is without a doubt, the best candle I’ve ever smelled. Every night this week, I’ve lit the wick immediately upon returning home. It fills my apartment with the most enchanting aroma…I could wax poetic about it all day long. Once you drink in the scent of White Jasmine & Mint, you’ll be a convert too.

Jo Malone products are available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and jomalone.com.

cj Chloe & Jane Giveaway!
In late 2006, beauty buff Wendy Viscuglia returned from a relaxing day at the spa, only to be met with holiday stress and a neverending Christmas gift list. “I wanted to share this amazing, relaxing experience with my friends and family” she says. “Next thing, I’m gifting 100 handmade sugar scrubs.”

Her best friend Laura Albin enjoyed the scrub so much that she made Wendy an offer she couldn’t refuse. In March 2007, a new lifestyle brand was born of Wendy’s creative spirit and Laura’s entrepreneurial vision.

This month, Chloe & Jane celebrates its one-year anniversary and debuts a collection of all-natural body care. What started as a lone sugar scrub has expanded into a product line that celebrates relaxation through the simple routine of cleansing. “These products remind us to take time for ourselves, and for each other,” says Laura. “These characters of Chloe & Jane are meant to inspire and engage, and if you find some comic relief in the midst of this crazy world – then we’ve done our jobs.”

I love Chloe & Jane. From the products and scents, to the packaging (labels feature funny anecdotes) – everything is pitch perfect. It’s one of those cases when you find a brand that you never knew about, then wonder how you ever did without. Let me reiterate – I luvre Chloe & Jane, and I know you’ll love them too…which is why we’re partnering for a Spoiled Pretty giveaway!!!

One first-place winner will receive the complete Chloe & Jane collection (Moisturizing Body Wash, Pure Sugar Body Polish, Ultra Smooth Body Butter, Hydrating Wonder Lotion, and Hand Soap) – in winner’s choice of fragrance. One runner-up will win the Perfect Duo in their choice of fragrance, plus the Body Wash Sampler.

Jesus-themed Cosmetics Cause Outrage And Are Pulled From Shelves

lookin good forjc Jesus themed Cosmetics Cause Outrage And Are Pulled From Shelves
A cosmetics line, called Lookin’ Good For Jesus, has been publicly crucified (sorry, I just had to) and pulled from shelves in Singapore. Catholic customers were appalled by the products and packaging, which depict J.C. as somewhat of a sex symbol.

Lookin’ Good For Jesus products include bubble bath that “makes you feel like you’re walking on water” and lip balm that promises to return your pout “to near virgin quality.”

Wing Tai Retail, which owns three Asian TopShop outlets, removed the line from their stores after receiving complaints.

U.S. company BlueQ, manufacturer of Lookin’ Good For Jesus, has several other lines that push the P.C. envelope – such as Mental Case, Wash Away Your Sins, Total Bitch, and Virgin/Slut.

Rachel, winner of a $25 bobe gift certificate, writes:

Hello again! I wanted to a) thank you again, and b) let you know that I’ve received my order from bobe and it is FABULOUS. I got the pumpkin cheesecake whipped body butter and vanilla chai lip balm, and they also included a hefty sample of the pink sugar bath mousse. I really can’t say enough good things about it all!

bathmousse Bobe Winner Pontificates On Her PrizeThe body butter is a.m.a.z.i.n.g…It smells sooo wonderful and feels great going on. The lip balm smells great too. But more importantly, it moisturizes really well. The bath mousse is a sweet little bit of luxury which I *really* need in my life with two wee ones.

I’ve directed all my friends to shop there, so I hope they do!

Thanks again, for giving me the chance to win this and for introducing me to such a wonderful little company!

Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair)

shampoo Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair) conditioner Pay The Cost To Be The Boss (Of Your Hair)
I normally wouldn’t advocate spending more than $15-20 on shampoo or conditioner; but when you have hair with behavioral problems like mine, well, sometimes you’ve gotta pay the cost to be the boss.

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo and White Truffle Nourishing Hair Conditioning Creme impart moisture, elasticity, and shine to chemically processed, dry, or damaged hair. The miracle broth of 23.2% pure botanical extracts (white truffle, lavender, comfrey, thyme, hops, and nettle) instantly disciplined my mane. Usually when I use a new hair product, I need to blow it dry and style it before I notice any difference. With this shampoo and conditioner, I felt the difference in the shower! The only thing I can liken it to is Ritalin for your hair.

At $54 and $75 – stay with me here – these products cost 3 and 4 times what I, a beauty junkie, would typically spend on shampoo and conditioner. But considering how much I generally pay for hair serums, lotions, and potions promising to make my hair behave – I will gladly dig deep into my pockets to fund this addiction.

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo and White Truffle Nourishing Hair Conditioning Creme are on my Spoiled Prettiest: Best of Beauty 2007 list. Philip B products are available for purchase online, and at a beauty supply store near you.
