Hello Spoiled Pretty readers. I am thrilled to be a contributing writer for SP! I’ve been looking for a hobby and thought “why don’t I funnel my interests to one place?” I hope that you enjoy my suggestions as we go through the journey of my new hobby together.
First and foremost – I absolutely LOVE Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics products. My first experience in one of their stores dates back 5ish years. My mother, sister and I were on our way home from a Yankees game (a tradition of ours), and we had some time to kill before getting to our train. We were on 14th Street walking away from Union Square when an adorable young man coaxed us into the shop promising us free facials and hand treatments. The scent that was pouring out of the door and into the New York City air was intoxicating. It was sweet and delicious – so we decided to indulge ourselves… (more…)
Hey Guys! As you all know the weather lately has been terrible and most of us have been getting all kinds of horrible colds and the flu, as a result. This is very personal for me because I work in retail and it seems like I get one disease after the other with all of my customers constantly sneezing and coughing on me while I do their makeup. So in an effort to expedite my wellness, I came up with a top ten must-haves to get better faster. Jess tested and Jess approved. LOL. Anyway, here you go in no particular order:
#1. Fresh Sake Bath Soak – Sake Bath is a purifying soak comprised of over 50% detoxifying sake that works to ease body tension and promote relaxation while leaving the skin incredibly soft, smooth, and moisturized. The delicately foaming formula was inspired by ancient beauty rituals of Japanese Geisha who were known to use sake to purify and soften their skin, and its luxurious lush scent comes from their tradition of infusing baths with real persimmons. On a personal note, I can literally feel the ick leaving my body when I soak in this. It’s a must have.
#2. Tiger Balm – Tiger Balm offers quick relief for nasal discomfort and cold symptoms like blocked noses and nasal congestion. With quick acting ingredients of herbal origin, Tiger Balm is the choice alternative remedy to keep close in chilly weather and cold office environments. Rub it on your chest to relieve congestion, on your temples to relieve a sinus headache and under your nose to open nasal passages and to treat flakey skin around the nose. Brilliant!
#3. Eucerin Redness Relief Night Cream – For visibly red skin, it’s a dermatological skincare hydrating formula with natural licochalcone, a skin soothing extract of licorice root. This unique gel-creme soothes and calms dry, uncomfortable skin. Perfect for puffy red flu faces. It has a gentle formula that minimizes the risk of irritation and is completely fragrance-free, oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermagologist recommended. (more…)
Last week, Tory Burch added a new fragrance and beauty collection to her stylish empire.
Tory describes her eponymous fragrance as “a balance of femininity and tomboy, citrus and floral, grounded and graceful.” Floral peony and tuberose blend with crisp citrus notes of grapefruit and neroli — anchored by earthy vetiver.
Back in 2009, I interviewed my fellow Philadelphian and she named Vetiver by Guerlain as her signature scent. So I’m not surprised that vetiver (which her dad, Buddy, also wore) became the signature note for her first fragrance. (more…)

Carol’s Daughter Body Cream is my hands-down favorite body moisturizer. It’s so decadently thick, it’s like a treat every time you smooth it on. And the formula is hydrating as all get-out. Plus, they smell amazing. I’m partial to the vanilla-based scents, which are all elegant and inspired takes on the classic scent.
Anyway, for the past few weeks, I’ve been lotioning up with Carol’s Daughter Body Butter in Vanilla Petals. I got a travel-sized jar in a set that I featured in my Holiday 2012 Gift Guide. Anyway, I just got around to using it and I can’t stop sniffing myself. I absolutely LOVE this scent. It’s described as a having notes of French marshmallow, soft florals and vanilla. To me, it smells like a mashup of buttercream and baby powder. Sounds weird, but it totally works. It’s warm and feminine – perfect for this season.
Now that I am almost finished with the jar, I’m weighing my options. I could replenish my stock by buying the full-sized jar or if I should go out on a limb and try their latest vanilla concoction: Lavender & Vanilla. I love both of those scents and Carol’s Daughter has never disappointed me with one of their vanilla interpretations. Here’s what Lisa Price, Carol’s Daughter founder, had to say about it:
“I’ve always loved the way Lavender makes me feel calm, and I happen to have a not-so-secret love affair with Vanilla. The combination of Lavender and Vanilla is like the best of both worlds: cool and warm; fresh and exotic – all at the same time.”
Well, I’m sold. I fully intend to investigate and report back.
