By now, you’ve probably heard all of the Kimye wedding details. Kim Kardashian wore a Givenchy Haute Couture lace gown (she slipped into a bodycon Balmain dress post-ceremony) and Kanye West was outfitted in a custom Givenchy tuxedo. Not to be outdone, little North wore a dress also designed by Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci. The couple exchanged Lorraine Schwartz wedding bands, were serenaded by John Legend, and are currently honeymooning in Ireland.
Kim’s wedding hair was styled by Jennifer Aniston’s homeboy Chris McMillan. But do you know who’s responsible for her flawless wedding makeup? That would be my friend (and makeup wizard) Mario Dedivanovic. He did Kim’s makeup for her last wedding. Khloe’s too. CONTINUE READING
Hey Guys! As you all know the weather lately has been terrible and most of us have been getting all kinds of horrible colds and the flu, as a result. This is very personal for me because I work in retail and it seems like I get one disease after the other with all of my customers constantly sneezing and coughing on me while I do their makeup. So in an effort to expedite my wellness, I came up with a top ten must-haves to get better faster. Jess tested and Jess approved. LOL. Anyway, here you go in no particular order:
#1. Fresh Sake Bath Soak - Sake Bath is a purifying soak comprised of over 50% detoxifying sake that works to ease body tension and promote relaxation while leaving the skin incredibly soft, smooth, and moisturized. The delicately foaming formula was inspired by ancient beauty rituals of Japanese Geisha who were known to use sake to purify and soften their skin, and its luxurious lush scent comes from their tradition of infusing baths with real persimmons. On a personal note, I can literally feel the ick leaving my body when I soak in this. It’s a must have.
#2. Tiger Balm – Tiger Balm offers quick relief for nasal discomfort and cold symptoms like blocked noses and nasal congestion. With quick acting ingredients of herbal origin, Tiger Balm is the choice alternative remedy to keep close in chilly weather and cold office environments. Rub it on your chest to relieve congestion, on your temples to relieve a sinus headache and under your nose to open nasal passages and to treat flakey skin around the nose. Brilliant!
#3. Eucerin Redness Relief Night Cream - For visibly red skin, it’s a dermatological skincare hydrating formula with natural licochalcone, a skin soothing extract of licorice root. This unique gel-creme soothes and calms dry, uncomfortable skin. Perfect for puffy red flu faces. It has a gentle formula that minimizes the risk of irritation and is completely fragrance-free, oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermagologist recommended. CONTINUE READING
Hey guys! I know it’s cold outside, but with warmer weather right around the corner, I wanted to give you all a taste of my top ten favorite products for spring so you can all be prepared to strut into the new season looking and feeling your very best!
Here they are in no particular order (I love them all equally!!!).
Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face and Cheeks: I absolutely love this palette! The colors are beautiful and natural, giving you a natural flush and glow into your face. When swatched onto my skin, the colors came out much brighter. The bronzer was great as a contour – so apply this underneath the cheekbones, nape of the neck, just along the jaw line and the temples of your forehead. My favorites were definitely the glow veils; they looked great as a highlighter for the inner corners of my eyes, just above the cupids bow of my lip, along the cheekbones and brow bones. Side note: I also used both cheek veils as lipstick because they are quite matte with no shimmer, so it gives your lips a natural pouty color. Also don’t be afraid to blend with your fingers as it melts the product and makes it easier to work with. Recommendations: I would recommend this palette for anyone, it’s easy to use and the colors will resonate well on both light and dark skin (as it is a highlighter). I – for one – love cream blushers and highlighter. All-in-all, this was a great buy.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum: This satiny serum is a remarkable formula for smoother, brighter-looking skin. Vinoperfect boosts the complexion’s radiance and appearance. Your skin is moisturized and your complexion looks even, luminous and beautifully radiant. Benefits: Enhances radiance, tone and clarity. Recommended for: All skin types. For those of you who are sensitive also, the formula is paraben-free!
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and uses a patented formulation that provides a protective barrier on the skin’s surface. This special formulation, called Multivesicular Emulsion, ensures the moisturizer will be time-released throughout the day for complete hydration. CeraVe also uses Ceramides which help the skin to retain water. This is especially good for those with extremely dry skin or skin that dries out half way through the day. One application will last the entire day. CevaVe Moisturizing Cream is fragrance-free, so it’s great for those who are sensitive to fragrance in their skin care products. This product is an all over body moisturizer; you can use it on your face as well as the rest of your body. I know that many of you may shudder at the idea of putting the same cream on your face and your body, but you’ll have to trust me and try it – you won’t be disappointed.
The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz: This amazing spray helps maintain normal cellular turnover & builds collagen. It contains L-ascorbic acid, which is essential for cross-linking collagen molecules, lightens and brightens skin, reduces inflammation, decreases transepidermal water loss and boosts your skin’s ability to protect itself from the sun. Wear Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz every day for a more youthful and glowing complexion. Tip: Keep this in the fridge! The cool sensation on a hot day is incredible! CONTINUE READING
Hey All! I’m sure many of you are wondering, with this new Urban Decay Naked 3 palette release, if it’s right for you – or if you if you’re a UD Naked palettes newbie, which one is a good fit. As this is their third palette in the Naked series, I feel like it’s pretty important to understand how this one compares to the previously released Naked and Naked 2 palettes. Naked 3 has an overall rose gold theme with 12 eyeshadows in a pretty, wave-textured tin case.
Each palette has 12 shadows, generally flowing from light to dark. The current selling palettes all come with a synthetic eyeshadow brush. Generally speaking, Naked has mostly warm neutrals, Naked 2 is in the neutral-to-taupe range with more drastic light and dark shadows, and Naked 3 is distinctly more pink with a lot of mid-to-light shades. Naked 3 has no copycat shadows in any other collection, which is nice for you palette hoarders out there (you know who you are!) who don’t want dupes.

A few weeks ago, Philadelphia Style Magazine interviewed me for a feature on their website. Since I’m a beauty junkie and can’t resist the opportunity to dish on my favorite products, the story evolved into “Daneen Baird of Spoiled Pretty’s 6 Fall Beauty Picks.” As a Philly gal (born and raised) and a big fan of the magazine (I made the print edition back in 2008 – less than a year after launching this blog), it was awesome to come full circle and to be profiled again. Here’s how they introduced me…
Beauty blogger extraordinaire and Philadelphia resident Daneen Baird knows a thing or two about putting your best face forward. At the helm of the award-winning website, Spoiled Pretty, Baird is constantly ahead-of-the-trend and in-the-know when it comes to the latest and greatest in beauty products and cosmetics. From nail polish reviews to insider tricks of the trade, Baird dishes it all with a bit of sass.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps.
I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another Hallmark holiday. I would buy the obligatory card and flowers, and remind my mother that I appreciated her. But it wasn’t until I became a mom that I realized the depth of my appreciation.
You see, my mom was born to be a mom. Throughout my life, she silently sacrificed to provide the best life possible for my sister and me. She enjoys her job as a mom so much that it’s easy to overlook or forget how hard that job can be. It’s the most thankless yet rewarding job imaginable and now that I fully understand what it means to be a mom, I think one day a year simply is not enough. My mother is so much more than a mom to me. She is a mentor, my best friend and an inspiration.
In the spirit of Mother’s Day, CoverGirl created a Facebook page for you to share all of the beautiful things you’ve learned from your mom. You can also create and send your mom a custom e-card with the beautiful lesson she taught you – and it will also be added to the CoverGirl Mother’s Day public scrapbook on the Facebook page.
What beautiful thing has your mom taught you? Mine has shared so many words of wisdom over the years, there isn’t enough room in this blog post to share. But the most profound thing I’ve learned from my mom is that unconditional love is real – and she practices it every day. I only hope that I can be half the mom to Westley that she has been for me.
Okay, okay…enough of the mushy stuff already, right? Since this is a beauty blog, I’ll also take this opportunity to share some words of wisdom for busy moms – like myself – who often have little time for beauty routines. Celebrity makeup artist Sage Maitri, who works with celeb moms like Molly Sims, Rebecca Romijn, Jessica Capshaw, Minnie Driver, Elizabeth Banks and Emily Deschanel, shares some of her favorite mom-friendly makeup tips:
Morning Mayhem – For a busy mom, mornings can be the hardest part of the day! Concealer is mother’s little helper! Try COVERGIRL + Olay Simply Ageless Concealer, which brightens up your eyes for a wide-awake look while the Olay Regenerist Serum covers fine lines and wrinkles.
1 + 2 = 3 Time Saving Products – A product that contains more than one beauty benefit can be a real time saver. Try these three multi-benefit products from COVERGIRL:
- COVERGIRL Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation is a primer, concealer and foundation in one.
- For a quick pop of color on your nails try COVERGIRL Outlast Nail Gloss which contains a built in top coat.
- To cover up those dark circles, try COVERGIRL + Olay Concealer Balm which is a concealer that is also infused with emollient-rich serum.
Bath Time is a Must – For a busy mom it’s hard to carve out time to wash your face before bed. Try to sync your schedule with your children’s so you can make time to keep you skin fresh and clean.
Date Night – A little lip color can go a long way and transform your daytime mommy look, to date night glam! Try COVERGIRL Jumbo Gloss Balm for a sheer pop of color, or LipPerfection Lip Color for a deeper more vibrant lip color. Both also have moisturizing ingredients which will keep your lips refreshed.
Mom-Only Brunch – When you’re a mom, your life revolves around your kids. Whenever I have an afternoon with the girls, I like to spice up my day to day look by adding a little life to my eyes. I love Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara to really bring volume to my lashes. The water resistant formula is also great for any unforeseen moments.
Treat Yourself – Sometimes you don’t always have time for yourself, but it’s important to treat yourself, even if it’s something small. I always have my clients invest in a face masque that is meant to be slept in. Wake up with glowing skin, a treat for all, but especially a multi-tasking mom!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of my mommy readers. May your loved ones spoil you pretty this Sunday!
