Ashley Greene’s Sherlock Holmes Premiere Hairstyle

ashley+greene+sherlock+holmes+premiere Ashley Greenes Sherlock Holmes Premiere HairstyleCelebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson styled Ashley Greene’s hair for the NYC premiere of Sherlock Holmes. Here are Ted’s expert tips and inspiration for how to get the look:

“Start off on wet hair and use Build It Blow Drying Agent and Hairsheet Styling to achieve volume and texture. After blow drying hair straight, use a large barrel curling iron to add movement, texture and shine. To finish off, pull hair back into a chignon using Tame It Shine Lotion and to hold it all in place, spray with Beautiful Hold Hairspray. We went with a more sophisticated look since the dress was a little below knee length and more demure, cocktail style. I wanted to be able to show off her beautiful face and fantastic neck by putting emphasis on these features with hair being a huge accent to the look.”

Rachel McAdams Sherlock Holmes Premiere Hairstyle

rachel+mcadams+sherlock+holmes+premiere+3 Rachel McAdams Sherlock Holmes Premiere HairstyleFor the world premiere event of the highly-anticipated Sherlock Holmes movie, Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin styled actress Rachel McAdams‘ tresses to complement her Grecian-inspired gown for a red carpet look that radiated grace and glam. All eyes were on Sherlock’s leading lady’s asymmetrical, loosely textured side braid.

Thomas shares styling tips for recreating Rachel’s red carpet look at home:

1) Start by applying a volumizing product like Sebastian Professional Texturizer to wet hair. Blow dry in sections, and pin each section in medium and large sized Velcro rollers throughout whole head and allow to set for 5-10 minutes.
2) Allow to cool then take down rollers, and spray hair with a dry shampoo for added texture.
3) Emulsify a small dab of Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber between palms and run through top of hair. Backcomb front section and manipulate for height and volume. Secure with pins.
4) French braid bottom half of hair starting behind left ear and pin random remaining pieces into braid for haphazard, playful positioning.
5) Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce for tousled movement and controlled hold.

Hi Mario!

What is your favorite luminizer? And how can I luminize my face?

Love, April

shimmery+cheekbones Makeup Mondays With Mario: How To "Luminize" Your FaceHey April,

I have a few favorites when it comes to luminizer. LORAC makes a really good one that comes in two shades. A pearly color for lighter skin and a golden/bronze shade for darker tones. Sometimes I will mix a bit of both together to create my own shade. This luminizer is oil-free and great for sensitive skin. You can luminize your face by mixing some of your foundation and/or moisturizer with the luminizer. I prefer to apply it on the cheekbones with my finger and blend with a damp sponge. Also use a bit on the bridge of your nose and center of lips. Try to not use powder directly on top of the luminizer and instead only on your t-zone. If you really want your face blinged-out, brush some shimmer powder over the liquid luminizer only on cheekbones and only at night.

Hey Mario,

I love all your makeup looks and I experiment everyday to recreate your genius techniques to have flawless makeup. When trying to copy your “Get The Face,” I usually buy all the products that you suggest, but now I have nowhere to put all of my makeup. Where and how do you organize all you makeup especially when moving from one client to the next within the same day? -Jen

Makeup Mondays With Mario: How Mario Organizes His MakeupHi Jen,

This is a very interesting question. Keeping my makeup organized is almost a full time job, but so important to me. In my kit, I have several bags where I separate my makeup. I like to keep creams together in one bag and all powders in another. Eyeshadow palettes also separate, then body makeup, brushes, pencils, etc. At home, I have a big closet with floor to ceiling shelving where I keep my makeup organized in clear boxes so that I can go in and put things away and take things out easily. Every makeup artist has their own way of organizing and packing. I think it’s best to play around with ideas and see what works best for you.

xo,
Mario

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye Concealer

mmwmd large Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye Concealer

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario!

What is the best concealer and how should it be applied for the best coverage? -Liz icon smile Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye Concealer

undereye+concealer Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye ConcealerLiz,

The best concealer really depends on the skin or area you want to cover up. If I had to choose one right now, I’d say the Lift Concealer by Make Up For Ever. Apply some with a brush to undereyes, blend with a damp sponge and set with translucent powder using the same damp sponge. Brush away that excess powder and voila – you’ve got flawless, creaseless undereyes!

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Slimming A Wide Nose

mmwmd large Makeup Mondays With Mario: Slimming A Wide Nose

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario!

Do you have makeup tips for making the nose look more narrow or smaller? Thank you! -Athena

nose+makeup Makeup Mondays With Mario: Slimming A Wide NoseAthena,

Making the nose look more narrow or smaller can be challenging at first and it’s very easy to overdo it. I remember back when I first tried to contour a model’s nose on a shoot, the photographer said “What is that muddy stuff on her nose?” LOL…I overdid it!

Here are a couple of tricks/tips I recommend:

Make sure the nose has a base on it and set it with some loose powder. Using a soft bristled brush (eye shadow/blending brush), dip a bit into a matte bronzer or blush that’s a few shades deeper then your skin. Tap off the excess powder and, starting at the inside corner of the brow, softly shade going down along the sides of the nose. Again, it’s very important that you start soft. It should look like a natural shadow and not an eyeshadow. Using a lighter shade either shimmer or matte, apply on the bridge of the nose. Blend with a clean brush if there are any lines.

Rihanna’s 20/20 Frosty Nude Lip Look

rihanna+20 20+makeup+lip+gloss Rihannas 20/20 Frosty Nude Lip LookOn Friday night, I was among the 8.2 million people who watched Rihanna’s 20/20 interview. But afterwards, while most people were thinking, “Wow…that Rihanna is so brave to publicly discuss such a horrifying personal tragedy” or “That jackass, Chris Brown, deserves whatever is coming to him” – I was thinking, “What products can I use to copy Rihanna’s icy nude lip look?”

So I did what any self-respecting beauty junkie would do. I broke out my lip gloss/lipstick stash and played makeup mad scientist/mixologist. I found that creating Rihanna’s 20/20 look is quite easy to do. All you need is a nude lipstick that is lighter than your complexion, and a silver gloss. Be sure to apply foundation to lips before trying this look, as the foundation will help cancel out any pink in your lips and let the lip color stand alone.

Here are some combos that I think would pass RiRi scrutiny:

4) Julie Hewett Lipstick in Biba + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
5) Victoria’s Secret Sheer Gloss Stick in Exposed + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
6) Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
7) Urban Decay Lipstick in Midnight Cowboy + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
8) This is just to show what MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam looks like on its own
