“Inspired by America’s effortlessly chic Oscar de la Renta dress, I kept her look sweet and simple,” said celebrity make-up artist, Linda Hay. Linda used Jouer’s Age Repairing Brightener around the eye and on the nose to illuminate America’s eyes. “The skin, I kept as sheer as possible by using as little as possible. I like to cover whatever’s required without over doing it because America has beautiful skin,” Linda said. On the cheeks, using finger-tip application, Linda applied Jouer’s Lip and Cheek Tint in Amaryllis, a sheer warm read which blended in to compliment America’s skin tone. “On her eyes, I applied a light and sheer shimmer all over the lid and inner corner of the eye, with a metallic silver shadow in the crease.” Using a black pencil, Linda applied a thin, defined line right above her lashes. Linda applied three coats of Dior Blackout Mascara to America’s eyes to make them pop.
Eyes: “With eyes like Hayden’s green sparklers, who needs a load of jewelry? We amped up the brilliance of Hayden’s green eyes with Neutrogena’s newest Nourishing Eye Quad in Vintage Wine. It includes a dazzlingly deep burgundy in a powder powerful enough to act as an eyeliner, which is perfect for creating the smoky look that Hayden adores. I layered on the Vintage Wine at the lash line and doubled it in the outer corners for an extra flash of drama.”
Face: “I love to build on Hayden’s golden look with Neutrogena Radiance Bronzer in Sunkissed. I swept it through the crease of her eye and all around her cheekbones and neck. It’s so soft and light you just cannot put too much on … so go crazy with it!”
“After bronzing, I mixed two delectable Neutrogena Soft Color Blushes – Sunny Spice and Divine Wine and applied them with a round brush in a circular motion to the apples of Hayden’s cheeks. I love layering this blush — it’s so sheer you can dust a little color in the crease of the eye to tie your look together.”
Lips: “This year lipstick is back and Neutrogena’s are brighter and better. My favorite is Neutrogena’s Moisture LipColor in Whisper Pink for painting on the perfect pout. It goes on with just a hint of shine so it leaves your lips looking healthy and moist.”
Also, remember the following tips when re-creating this glamorous face. First, never contour with blush. It makes you look so retro-80s – and not in a good way. And slip a pack of blotting sheets into your evening clutch, to remove shine without removing your makeup.
Complexion: The Eraser in Porcelain (new shade launched this month), ReCreate anti-aging foundation with Wrinkle Rewind and SPF 15: Porcelain 00 (new product launching this month), and Provocateur Mineral Pressed Powder with SPF 8: Fair.
Lips: muted pink/beige-blended Tarte’s 24/7 Natural Lip Sheers with SPF 15 in Champagne Brunch and Tea Time
“Salma’s makeup look was directly inspired by her dress,” said NARS Makeup Artist Matthew Vanleeuwen. “She chose a very neutral colored dress and wanted to make sure her makeup look would pop. I made her eyes the focus and added a lot of rich, jewel skin tones and fresh color to her cheeks and lips. Her look was very classic and chic, with some modern textures.”
Below is Matthew’s step-by-step to recreate Salma’s look:
Eyes: Apply China Blue Single Eyeshadow to top and bottom lash line (Matthew’s tip: “I love using navy colors because they make the whites of the eyes pop.”) Next, use Corfu Cream Eyeshadow as a base, all over eyelid. Use the golden champagne side of Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow on lid. Then, use Bengali Single Eyeshadow all along the lash line, rubbing it into the lash line, deepening the outer corner of the eye, creating shading. Curl the eyelashes and apply 2 coats of Black Orchid Mascara on lashes. Go back over top lash line with Night Clubbing Eyeshadow and use what is left on the brush under the eye to define it (Matthew’s tip: “This shade is perfect to create a smokey eye – it gives a rich sparkle at the lash line with undertones of green and gold.”)
Blush: Apply Desire Blush to the apple of cheeks. (Matthew’s tip: “I use a powder brush to apply blush. I find that a bigger brush makes a much softer wash of color.”) Next, use Laguna Bronzer with short, back and forth stokes from the back of cheekbone forward, to blend.
Make up artist Brett Freedman played up her new whimsical, boho-vibe with an extended eyeliner on the eyes and a little “out of the box glam” for the usually understated Jenna. What would Pam say?
Brett used the following products:
Foundation: LORAC Oil Free Powder Foundation in #02 (Light)
Loose Powder: Prescriptives Liquid Powder in Deep Translucent (It has a gorgeous light-reflective quality with a hint of bronze and photographs beautifully.)
Concealer: Cle De Peau Concealer in Beige
Eyeshadow: Rimmel Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in #330 Azure, applied wet and swept over lids and blended down to a sheer finish.
Liquid Liner: Lancome Laque Liner in Pure Black – applied a line across the top lash line, thickening and extending out and upward for a dramatic look.
Brow Highlight Shadow: L’Oreal HiP pigment powder in Restless. (I love to have a bright, crisp brow bone. This champagne hued shadow looks natural yet packs a punch.)
Mascara: Vanitymark ‘the LASH’ in Blackest. Three coats were applied to really amp up the top lashline. One full coat on the bottom to give eyes definition without overpowering the top lash line.
Faux Lashes: Kre-At Beauty individual lashes. A mix of the short (on the inner eye) and the long (for outer) in black were used to give an alluring sweep.
Body Bronzer: Vanitymark Summerskin, applied first to ‘tone down’ the tawny shade so Jenna would have a healthy glow without being too tan. (When you’re showing that much flesh it’s good to have a nice lift of color.)
Freida’s radiant natural beauty and flawless skin tone was the inspiration behind Jeffrey Paul’s red carpet look. He used his distinctive technique to enhance Freida’s natural beauty and encourage her true character to emerge. Jeffrey wanted Freida’s natural beauty to be the focal point of her overall look, so he decided to go with a subtle palette of shimmering pinks, champagne and gold – to accentuate her flawless skin and natural glow. He wanted her look to be soft, fresh and easy.
To re-create Freida’s radiant red carpet look:
Eyes: Jeffrey used a thick green liner with flecks of gold. He smudged Jouer Eye Definer in Vert very close to the lashes to frame her eyes, The soft green color complimented her eye coloring while the gold flecks in the liner tied the look together. For additional color, he added Jouer Eyeshadow in Amaretto in the crease of the eyelid to add definition and blended with a soft brush. Jouer Conditioning Mascara in Noir was used on both the top and bottom lashes to show off Freida’s long thick lashes.
Skin: To get Freida’s sunkissed look, Jeffrey mixed together foundation and concealer and only used on key spots to blend outward for a soft effect. Jouer Crème Highlighter was used on the brow bone and cheek bones to add additional definition and shimmer.
Lips: Jeffrey finished the look using the Jouer Crème Highlighter matched with Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Monsoon. The golden tone of the highlighter accentuated the natural pink color of her lips while the sheer deep wine gloss was the perfect compliment.
To copy Megan’s foxy look, start by applying Fekkai Coiff Controle to damp hair and smooth out the texture with the Fekkai Classic Brush. Separate the top of the hair and tease the bottom all the way around. Using Fekkai Pomade Cristal to create texture pull the bottom portion of the hair to one side and twist. Secure with pins. Join the top to rest of the hair and follow the direction of the twist. Attach the front to the back to give you a sculptured wave. Finish with Fekkai Glossing Sheer Shine Mist. Creating the twist in two sections gives the classic French twist a modern look.
