coralista+benefit+cosmetics CORALista Giveaway, Sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics
When you look in the mirror, does your face look like it could use a vacay?

Take a tropical pleasure trip with Benefit’s CORALista. Sweep this blush onto cheeks to wake up your complexion and put a smile on your face.

On Saturday, CORALista met TIREDista (that would be me) – and I found this warm coral pink blush to be the perfect antidote to the dreaded winter pallor. And yes, even brown girls can look anemic…lately I’ve been looking particularly pale, a la Dead Presidents.

CORALista is oh so flattering and goes on sheer – so you have to be really heavy-handed to overdo it. To apply, swirl the brush in the box & blow off excess. Smile and brush lightly across the apples of your cheeks, starting from the hairline and working in.

CORALista retails for $28…but one of you is gonna get lucky because Spoiled Pretty is partnering with Benefit to give away one CORALista, pro bono.

To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read “Benefit CORALista Giveaway.” The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Sunday, February 1st. One winner will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, February 2nd, I’ll announce the winner’s name. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only.

Good luck!

angelina+jolie+sag+2009 SAG Awards Beauty: Angelina Jolie
Angelina looked stunning in a dark, navy blue Max Azria gown. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton wanted to create a 60’s look and chose to focus on Angelina’s eyes by applying lots of eyeliner and mascara. She used Lancôme Artliner in Noir just above the lash line. To compliment Angelina’s eye color and to make her eyes really stand out, she applied a bluish grey eyeshadow – YSL Ombre Solo Double Effect Eyeshadow in #3 Silk Blue – to the eyelid. Finally, she applied several coats of Lancôme Courbe Virtuôse Mascara in Black. Mary added a touch of pink to the apples of Angie’s cheeks using Shu Uemura blush in M Pink 31. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Rose Jolie, natch.

Award Winning FOTD

FOTD+2 Award Winning FOTD
Last night, I attended the PRSA/Philadelphia Pepperpot Awards – a celebration of outstanding performance in public relations by practitioners in agencies, industry, government, and non-profit organizations. The American Cancer Society’s Marketing Department (of which I am a member) was nominated for our efforts to pass Clean Indoor Air (smoke-free) legislation in Pennsylvania.

The Pepperpot Award has grown into one of the most coveted awards in the field of public relations, so I pulled out the big guns and went all out with my makeup. It’s a good thing I did, because my team ended up winning first place in the Public Affairs category! Yay us!

And the icing on the cake? Charm City Cakes, the bakery featured in the Food Network series, Ace of Cakes, created a magnificent confection that looked just like an actual pepperpot!

Here are the products I used to create my award-winning look:

I’ll Never Apply Blush The Same Way Again

Posted on by daneen in Beauty Tips, Blush | 2 Comments

jillian+dempsey Ill Never Apply Blush The Same Way AgainJillian Dempsey is a smart cookie. She’s the lucky lass who took McDreamy off the market. So when Jillian, a makeup artist and Global Creative Color Director for Avon, shared her tips for choosing and applying blush…you best believe I’m taking copious notes.

“When I’m working on a client, I smile so she’ll smile, which accentuates the best part of the cheeks to apply blush. I put the the highest concentration of color just outside of the fattest part of the cheeks – not directly under the eyes. You don’t want that flush of color to be too close to the nose or the temples because that screams ‘too much blush.’”

Since reading Jillian’s advice in November’s issue of Allure, I have been applying my blush exactly as she recommends. And I have to say that I am amazed at the difference a few millimeters can make. For the first time in what I fear is too long, I actually look like I’m blushing.
