Have you seen the latest issue of People? I was absolutely shocked when I spied this pic of Adam Lambert, without his trademark pankcake foundation and kohl rimmed eyes. Who would’ve thought that he was hiding such an adorable baby face beneath all of that theatrical makeup? I mean, just look at his eyes…they’re jumping right off of the computer screen! Glambert really ought to give the guyliner an extended vacay.

Have you noticed a lotta lavender lips lately? I have. Lady Gaga kicked off the trend in February when she paired a light purple pout with an oversized hair bow. Since then, they’ve appeared sporadically on the Fashion Week runways. But now I can’t help but notice that they’re cropping up everywhere.
New Moon star Christian Serratos (who plays Angela) wore lilac lipstick to the movie’s premiere. And Alicia Keys sports a lavender gloss in her new video, Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (photo below).
The look is like an oxygen-deprived pale pink mouth. To create a lavender lip to compliment my caramel complexion, I use the duo seen at left: MAC Lipstick in Syrup and MAC Plushglass in Foolishly Fab (which has, foolishly, been discontinued).
To steal the look, I recommend a pale pink or lavender lipstick with a sheer lilac gloss on top. For a look that’s more wearable, just a gloss will do the trick. Try: MAC Cremesheen Glass in Ever So Rich, MAC Lustreglass in Flashmode or Morning Glory, or MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous.
Let me speak frankly. If you’re applying your foundation with anything but the Beautyblender sponge, you’re doing it wrong. Look…I don’t mean to put you on blast, but I’m here to give it to you straight. And when I tell you that Beautyblender is, hands down, the best foundation applicator, I speak the truth.
The point of foundation is to fool the eye of the beholder into thinking you were blessed with a flawless complexion. But if you’re applying it incorrectly, or with inferior tools, you just look like you’re wearing a makeup mask. And who wants that? Nobody, that’s who. The difference between foundation that looks like foundation and foundation that looks like skin is Beautyblender.
Since I was introduced to Beautyblender in 2007, we have been in a monogamous relationship. It is the only tool I use to apply my foundation. Invented by Hollywood makeup artists, this sponge leaves you with a professional finish. Applying makeup with fingers or sharp-edged triangular sponges can waste makeup and can leave visible streaks. Beautyblender’s elliptical shape makes allows you to access hard-to-reach areas with ease. Its suede-like texture repels product, so your foundation actually ends up on your face – rather than absorbed by the sponge. And its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your makeup dazzling and undetectable.
I even use it to apply my concealer and cream blushes. And if you have problem skin, I can’t recommend anything better for magically disguising blemishes and hyperpigmentation. Beautyblender is reusable (perfect for those green gals), latex-free, non-allergenic, and odor free…and makes a great holiday gift.

You know who is also a fan of Beautyblender? My pal, and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mario Dedivanovic. Watch the Beautyblender in action, as Mario makes up the beautiful face of his muse, Kim Kardashian.

“I had fun glamming Kim up for her Vegas birthday,” he said. “I did her makeup that night while she was laying down on this big, comfortable spa table/reclining chair and it was actually great doing makeup that way. It’s more exciting when they can’t see what I’m doing the whole time because they get surprised at the end.” (more…)
