As you probably know, today is the official kickoff of New York Fashion Week, Spring 2010. In fact, I’ll be traveling to NYC on Saturday to attend Fashion Week events and report from backstage. But before we move forward, let’s take a look back to Fashion Week, Fall 2009. Last spring, I went behind the scenes at some of the hottest shows – and noticed some emerging trends.
Last week, I appeared on the NBC 10! Show to talk about five of the fiercest beauty trends for fall – and introduce viewers to must-have products to help them nail the looks.
Watch and learn…
In honor of my latest TV appearance, I’m giving away a selection of the products featured in the segment!!! One lucky winner will receive:

I don’t know what took me so long to hop on the Stila Kitten bandwagon. But now that I’m all aboard, I’m gonna rock it ’til the wheels fall off.
When Stila introduced the original pearlized Kitten eye shadow in 1997, girls everywhere scooped up the universally flattering pink champagne shade. And now I know why. Just a light dusting of its rose gold goodness on lids instantly makes peepers pop.
And now that I’ve worked myself into a feline frenzy, I’ve got my claws out and I’m ready to pounce on Stila’s Smitten With Kitten collection, coming this fall.
Last month, I had an opportunity to preview these new kitten incarnations, and I’m positively purring for…
Stila Kitten Smudge Pot, $20 The proprietary combination of pearls used to create Kitten are blended into a new Smudge Pot resulting in shimmering champagne. Wear it as an eye shadow primer, a shadow, liner or even a cheek and brow bone highlighter. Like a kitty cat stuck up in a tree, once this product sets, it ain’t goin’ nowhere; it’s smudge-proof, water resistant, long-wearing and simply illuminating, day and night!
Stila Kitten Lip Glaze, $22 The iconic gloss gets infused with the iconic shade, for a smile that looks sprinkled with stardust. Wear it alone for a sophisticated shine or over lipstick for a dazzling effect. The long-lasting, non-sticky formula is enriched with vitamins A, C and E to moisturize and smooth without feathering.
Stila Black Cat Smudge Pot, $20 Forget about the superstition when this black cat crosses your path. Like a little black dress and a flute of champagne, this black gel liner is infused with an unexpected blend of Kitten shimmer and can be used for lining the lashes or blending on the lids. It’s smudge-resistant, precise, modern and darkly lustrous. This product brings totally brings me back to 1990, when a young, badass Janet (Miss Jackson, if you’re nasty) sang:
Black cat, nine lives Short days, long nights Livin’ on the edge Not afraid to die
Stila’s Smitten With Kitten Collection will be available in September – exclusively at stilacosmetics.com.
The new fall dress code for Giorgio Armani is “Greige.” Subtle but distinct tones accentuate a deep smoky eye contrasted with a fresh, luminous complexion and a muted, but intense lip color.
Manta Ray Eye Duo Palettes, $38 The star product of the season is the eye duo palette, which is dressed with an exotic Manta Ray pattern. Inspired by the precious and luxurious materials used in Giorgio Armani fashion accessories, the palettes offer a beautiful selection of color harmonies inspired by nature. The collection features subtle hues that offer a new take on the timeless color “Greige,” create by Giorgio Armani. The rich filtered eye tones, presented in a matte Greige compact, give depth and mystery to the eyes with subtle contours and highlights.
n° 1 – charcoal and Greige: the ultimate eye shadow combination for this season’s smoky eye n° 2 – deep ocean blue and intense ocean green n° 3 – pale lilac grey and luminous fuchsia n° 4 – light blue stone and sandy beige n° 5 – shimmering lilac pearl and pale green pearl
Liquid Silk Eye Liner n° 1 and n° 2, $30
Armani Liquid Silk Eye Liners in matte charcoal grey or midnight metallic blue contrast the softer Greige tones with a smooth high precision stroke. The formula, which contains microdispersed waxes and micro-fil™ polymer, boosts the deep intense color and ensures a long-lasting, quick-drying application.
Armani Silk Lipstick n°92, $25
This season’s must-have Armani lipstick accentuates the natural lip color, keeping the focus on the eyes. The grey-blue tones in this soft plum lipstick add intensity to the lip without giving a dark contrast, the new alternative to beige. The Armani Silk lipstick formula dresses the lips with a hydrating and silky veil. Specific oils allow the shade to reveal intense and radiant color, resulting in a luminous blush on the lips.
The “Greige” Eye Look by Linda Cantello: “Eye shadow is about shading. Rather than adding shadows, these muted tones contour and define, accentuating the eye and the pupil; the focus is actually on the eye itself. My favorite is the Greige and charcoal duo shade palette, but the pale lilac grey and fuchsia offer a really beautiful pop of color.”
Application Tips: * Use the Greige shade to contour the eye by sweeping the shadow along the crease of the eye. Follow by sweeping the shade under the lower lash line and over the upper lash line. Use charcoal to add intensity.
* A second option is to sweep the charcoal shadow over the whole lid and use the Greige to blend. For added intensity, apply midnight blue eyeliner along the upper lid lash line.
