Apparently, I wasn’t the only beauty blogger enchanted by Kim Kardashian’s ferosh Fashion Week cat eye. My blogging buddy Indian Girl just sent me an email, thanking me for posting makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic’s step-by-step application tips.

Using my post as a guide, Indian Girl replicated Kim’s liner and eye shadow situation – and I have to say, she did an amazing job!

Words From The Wise: Three Custom Color Clarifier Is An Eye Opener

Posted on by daneen in Eye Liner | Leave a comment

tired eyes Words From The Wise: Three Custom Color Clarifier Is An Eye OpenerSpoiled Pretty reader, Jaime, wrote me with the following plea for help:

“What product can I use to line the waterline on my lower eye? I like the look of liner on the lower waterline, but I can’t seem to find a product that works! When I use eye shadow with an eyeliner brush, it looks great, but the shadow seems to irritate my eyes when it inevitably gets in them a little bit. I’m looking for a product that is white – to make my eyes appear larger, and make me look well rested – but I just can’t find anything! Help! What do you use?”

I tend to stay up very late, writing stories to keep y’all entertained…so I know a thing or two about faking 8-hours of beauty sleep. When I need to look bright eyed and bushy tailed, I turn to Three Custom Color Specialists.

Headshot Trae 300 Words From The Wise: Three Custom Color Clarifier Is An Eye OpenerTrae Bodge, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Three Custom Color Specialists, shares a product suggestion to make eyes look brighter, whiter and more beautiful.

Dear Jamie,

Great question! Using a light shade on the inner rim of the eyes does make the eyes look wider, brighter and less glassy by concealing the pink that naturally occurs there (and that can be more pronounced the more tired we are). Pencil is your best bet, as eye shadow can tend to flake off into the eye.

clarifier Words From The Wise: Three Custom Color Clarifier Is An Eye OpenerWhite has been the standby for years, but as of late makeup artists and beauty junkies have been using a flesh-colored pencil as it achieves the same goal but doesn’t look stark like white pencil can. We recommend our makeup artist staple, Three Custom Color Specialist’s Clarifier Pencil, available in Light and Dark $16.50. Easy to apply, water resistant, and great for use as a spot concealer, brow definer and highlighter anywhere on the face!

Jaime, Trae will be sending you the Clarifier Pencil…and she promises it will be an eye-opening experience! Many thanks to Trae and Three Custom Color Specialists for participating in this installment of Words From The Wise.

Jealous of Jaime? Get a Clarifier of your very own…at 20% off! Three Custom Color is having a site-wide sale and all purchases before March 15th are 20% off. Enter coupon code MARCH at checkout to snag the Clarifier for $13.20 (plus shipping).

OMG: Kim Kardashian’s Makeup Artist Answers MY Beauty Question!!!

kim kardashian awesome cat eye OMG: Kim Kardashians Makeup Artist Answers MY Beauty Question!!!Remember this fierce cat eye that Kim Kardashian sported at New York Fashion Week?

Well, Kim’s makeup artist was fielding beauty questions on her blog – so I posted a comment, asking how he created it. And guess what? He answered my question and Kim posted on her blog today!!!

spoiledpretty: I absolutely NEED to know how you created the black & white edgy cat eye Kim wore to the Y-3 Fashion Week show.

Mario Dedivanovic: LOL Daneen, I loved doing that look on Kim too. It was very different and more of a fashion forward look. I used the MAC liquid liner and rimmed the entire eye around from corner to corner. I used a white matte shadow on the lid and under the brow and Cork shadow by MAC in the crease. I didn’t use any mascara on the bottom because I wanted the sharp line to show.

Can you believe? I think I’m in shock…

Head to Kim’s blog for more of Mario’s beauty tips!

Recessionista’s Fabuless Pick of the Week: Wet N Wild Dual Effects Eye Pencil

wet+n+wild+dual+effecrs+eye+pencil Recessionista’s Fabuless Pick of the Week: Wet N Wild Dual Effects Eye PencilI haven’t used Wet n Wild products since the mid 90’s, when I bought one of their brown lip pencils to outline my mouth, a la Janet Jackson in her That’s The Way Love Goes video.

But once I started college and had some disposable income, I forgot about the bargain brand that satisfied my beauty addiction throughout high school. Now, I’m full circle and back in love with another Wet n Wild liner – the new Beauty Benefits Dual Effects Eye Pencil.

These pencils offer double the benefits: one side defines with smooth, smokey color, while the other brightens, lifts and opens the eye area. The Beauty Benefits Dual Effects Eye Pencil comes in six shades: Solar Eclipse, Bronzed Earth, Golden Espresso, Starry Night, Rich Eggplant and Sterling Graphite.

Recessionista’s Fabuless Pick of the Week: Wet N Wild Dual Effects Eye Pencil

I have the Sterling Graphite; I use the gray liner to define my upper and lower lashes, then I apply the sparkly white shadow to the inner corners of my eyes to make them pop.

Beauty Benefits Dual Effects Eye Pencil retails for only $4.99! Click here to see where they are sold in your hood.

Oh Oh Oh…It’s Magic: Givenchy Magic Kajal Eye Pencil

givenchy spring summer 2009 Oh Oh Oh...Its Magic: Givenchy Magic Kajal Eye PencilLast Tuesday, a select group of bloggers was invited to the Givenchy offices in NYC to celebrate the launch of the Maharani Spring 2009 collection. Fresh fruit and yogurt were on the menu for this beauty breakfast, but I couldn’t be bothered with the food. I was too busy salivating over the products. It’s rare that I fall in love with an entire collection, so trust me when I tell you that every component of this compilation is a winner and deserves a spot in your makeup case. As Nicolas Degennes, Artistic Director of Givenchy Makeup, took us on a tour of his artistic imagination and described each Indian-inspired beauty, I fell a little deeper in love.

Once the presentation concluded, Nicolas (the creative genius behind the aptly named Phenomen’Eyes Mascara) approached me and whispered in French accented English, “My dear, you will love this eye pencil. You will love it.”

Givenchy+Magic+Kajal Oh Oh Oh...Its Magic: Givenchy Magic Kajal Eye PencilInitially, I was taken aback. Was Nicolas clairvoyant? Was he reading my mind? Could he see the eyeliner and sugarplums that dance in my head? Then I remembered that I had swathed my eyes in rings of bright blue pencil, earlier that morning. Of course Nicolas knew I was dying to try his new Magic Kajal Eye Pencil. My eyeliner junkie status was written all over my face.

After the breakfast, I couldn’t get back to my hotel room quick enough. I couldn’t wait another minute to experience Kajal’s conjury. I took the chubby crayon in my hand, ran circles around my eyes, then looked into the mirror for the final verdict. Survey says…WINNER! Rimmed in the glossiest, most bewitching black, I couldn’t take my eyes off of my eyes.

There aren’t enough superlatives in the English language for me to adequately sing the praises of Givenchy’s Magic Kajal Eye Pencil. This is the black smudgy pencil that eyeliner enthusiasts have been waiting for. The pencil contains wax and oil, which gives the crayon a creamy texture. This creaminess does cause the pigment to travel; so if you like a clean, more graphic line, I advise dusting some translucent powder underneath the lower lash line (I like Make Up For Ever’s HD Microfinish Powder).

I love how this liner makes me look like a badass.
