For a long time, Mother’s Day was just another Hallmark holiday to me. Time to buy the obligatory bouquet and card, right? That is until I had my son, Westley. Only then did I understand what a difficult (and rewarding) job motherhood truly is. And now that Westley is 3.5-years-old and I’m 2 months shy of welcoming his little sister into the world, Mother’s Day holds even more meaning for me. So do me a favor. This Mother’s Day, I want you to spoil the mothers in your life. It’s okay if your wallet is a little light. We moms appreciate a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful email/text message and – yes – the obligatory bouquet or card. But in case you’re feeling generous this year, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Mother’s Day gift suggestions over the next 10 days or so. After years of coveting a Tory Burch handbag, I recently bit the bullet and gifted myself with this Amanda Round Crossbody Bag. Now, I’m a Tory Burch convert coveting more fabulous accessories. These key chains are so cute and would make the perfect gift for a true Tory Burch fan. [show_shopthepost_widget id=”177352″] (more…)

Personally, I’ve found the Sochi Olympics to be underwhelming, so far. But you know what keeps me tuning in – at least on the figure skating days, anyway? Johnny Weir.
Honestly, the two-time Olympic skating champ turned commentator could be speaking Russian as he critiques the performances for NBC Sports Network. All anyone really wants to know is where they can buy his fierce fashions and accessories.
But what’s the inspiration behind his flamboyant Sochi style? (more…)
I just had to share how much I adore this Susana Monaco Flutter Tube Dress I just bought from Shopbop.com. I’m usually very hesitant to buy clothing online because I’m short and curvy and I can’t be assured that something will look right until I try it on. And even when I do buy clothes off the Internet, they’re almost always petite clothes because the proportions on regular clothes make me look like I got dressed in front of a funhouse mirror. But I decided to take a chance on this dress because a) I don’t have any cute going out dresses in my closet, b) this dress is so cute it’s ridiculous and c) it’s on sale for 50% off.
Well, I’m glad I decided to live dangerously because the dress fits amazing and is the most flattering thing I’ve bought in a long time. The double-jersey knit hugs without being restrictive. Plus since it’s not thin, you don’t have to worry about it showing any lumps and bumps. The peplum on top of the skirt plays hide-and-seek with the areas I’m most self conscious about, and makes this body-con dress more wearable for those of us without model bodies. And the color just screams summer, right?
This dress is so hot, I’m building an entire girls’ night around it.
If you’re as enamored with this dress as I am, act quick…it’s going fast. But be sure to check out Susana Monaco’s other dresses Shopbop.com – she’s no one hit wonder.
PS – . So check that out for more options.
Earlier this month, Kate Spade (aka creator of cuteness and the reason why I can’t seem to keep money in my wallet), launched a brand new line called Kate Spade Saturday.
Kate Spade Saturday is a new global lifestyle brand created to channel the spirit of Saturday seven days a week. This younger, more accessible sister to kate spade new york shares the same DNA: it’s colorful, optimistic and bold, but it expresses these values in a more casual way. Saturday offers simple shapes and go-anywhere silhouettes. Functionality and utility are key. The collection is crafted with honest materials like crisp cotton, canvas and natural vachetta, brightened with bold colors and strong prints. The line includes apparel, handbags, accessories and items for the home.
After browsing around Saturday.com, I have to say that it’s everything I hoped it would be. The line is polished but fun – retaining Kate Spade’s cheekiness – but at a more affordable price point. Here are just a few of the fashionista-friendly items I’m eyeing up:
Don’t Forget to Be Awesome Wallet, $120
Split Neck Tee, $30 (available in Black, Heather Gray, White and Yellow)
Let Loose Dress in Stripe, $180
How adorbs (and ingeniously practical) is the Echo Tech Hat? With lightweight, removable headphones sewn right into the hat, you can keep the tunes in and the cold out without missing a beat.
It’s available for $45 at Nordstrom and Zappos.

If you’re in the market for some new boots, I highly suggest you check out Naturalizer. Yes, Naturalizer.
I know that the brand name evokes old lady, orthapedic-looking shoes, but Naturalizer’s shoe and boots styles are anything but. The designs are classic (with a nod to current trends), versatile and super comfy.
Last winter, I bought a pair of black riding boots and I’ve worn them at least 3 or 4 times a week through the spring. Now that it’s getting colder, they again have become my go-to footwear for fall. They look chic paired with a dress or skirt, and also with skinny jeans or leggings tucked in.
And for those of you with “athletic” calves or who wear a narrow or wide width shoe, you’re in luck because Naturalizer offers all of these options. Personally, I have wide feet and need a wide shaft boot – and I can tell you that it’s damn near impossible to find a cute boot that fits. But Naturalizer sells several.
I’m so happy with my black riding boots that I’m going to buy a brown pair…and my decision comes at the perfect time because they’re having a sale! Now through November 25, 2012, take 20% off your order at Naturalizer.com using promo code UWINT32A.
The “Juletta” boot (above) has been marked down to a very reasonable $179.99 – but with the coupon, it’s an even better $143.99!
Update: Use coupon code UWINT29A for 20% off all boots, plus an extra 15% and free shipping!
