Beautiful Things My Mother Taught Me

Mom and me, circa 1979 Disclosure: This post is sponsored by CoverGirl. Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps. I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. My New Arm Candy: Rebecca Minkoff Swing Bag

After beauty products, handbags are my secondary addiction. But when it comes to arm candy, I have discriminating taste. For me, the perfect handbag seamlessly marries fashion with function, is handcrafted from high-quality materials, has really unique hardware and is classic but edgy - all at the same time. I don't like to carry the of-the-moment "it" bag. I CONTINUE READING

sally hansen Prabal Gurung nail polish Polished: Purple Posy by Sally HansenDesigner Prabal Gurung collaborated with Sally Hansen to create three nail polish colors this spring, and Purple Posy was one of them. This color is a violet creme color, and it is unlike anything I have seen around. I had to have it!

I must admit that I was skeptical, because Sally Hansen products don’t always have the best staying power. I took a risk because it is a fresh color, and I adore Prabal Gurung’s designs – he can do no wrong! CONTINUE READING

bite beauty lush lip tints Bite Me: Bite Beauty Lush Lip TintsA few weeks ago Bite Beauty sent over two of their new Lush Lip Tints for me to try. They have a bunch of colors that look cute – I got cherry and black currant and I really like both. They are lightly scented, and go on really smooth. They’re hydrating but not super slick or sticky like some glosses can be. The formula also has some staying power, which was nice. And the shades are flattering and not too bright. CONTINUE READING

Cute and Comfy: Sofft Ramona II Pumps

max and cleo pleated dress Cute and Comfy: Sofft Ramona II PumpsA few weeks ago, I posted a pic of this Max & Cleo dress I was planning to wear to a wedding and solicited your advice for complementary shoes. The resounding consensus was that I should jazz it up with a pair of colorful kicks. But while I loved many of your shoe recommendations, my wide, flat feet started to hurt just looking at those stilettos. So I decided to use your suggestions as style inspiration and search for similar heels in a less intimidating height. Unfortunately, 99.9% of the cute heels out there are too narrow for my Flintstone feet, not to mention ridiculously sky high. Seriously, how women can stand in these things, let alone stroll? Inquiring minds want to know.

I went to Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, DSW, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale’s  – and came up with nada. I was this close to switching the dress – all because I couldn’t find appropriate shoes – until I happened upon the Sofft Ramona II Pump. CONTINUE READING

nicole by opi kourt is red y for a pedi Nicole by OPI: Kourt Is Red y For A PediI am absolutely obsessed with Nicole by OPI’s Kourt is Red-y For A Pedi - from the Kardashian Kolors collection. I typically gravitate towards edgy shades, but I’ve been seeing a lot of celebs sporting orange-y red manicures and I couldn’t help but hop on the bandwagon. So I reached into the recesses of my nail polish collection and unearthed this gem, which OPI sent me for review last year (better late than never, right?). CONTINUE READING

Eucerin Challenge Badge 2012 Eucerin Healthy Skin Challenge: First ReportThe 2012 Eucerin Healthy Skin Challenge that I announced back in April is fully underway. Last week I had my first consultation with Dr. Deborah Sarnoff, a NYC dermatologist. After discussing my skin issues, she recommended the following Eucerin products for me:

I’ll be starting my personal skincare regimen next week, which will continue throughout the year – all while tracking and sharing my progress with you. And because a journey is so much more fun with company, I’ll also be dropping some serious skincare knowledge on you and hosting fabulous giveaways.

You can get in on the action too. Visit the “Digital Derm” tab on the Eucerin Facebook page! This tab offers you the chance to ask one of Eucerin’s Skin First Council dermatologists a question about their skincare and find a local dermatologist near your home. And if you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow @EucerinUS.

So stay tuned, my pretty peeps.
