Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works Cooling Gel Lotion Needs A New Name

A few weeks ago, I paid a visit to my local Bath & Body Works store. I was on the hunt for a tropical-smelling body wash that wouldn't break the bank, and B&BW seemed like a good place to search. When I entered the store, I was greeted my a really nice saleswoman who asked me what I was CONTINUE READING

love your glasses Love Your Glasses with Glasses.com

When I was about 11 years old, my mom took me to see a play. I can’t remember exactly what show it was – probably because, at the time, I couldn’t see it very well. As we were driving home from the performance, my mom rattled off her favorite parts of the performance and engaged me in conversation. It was then that we both realized I needed prescription glasses. The show had, literally, been a blur for me.

My first pair of glasses were pure ugly. My dad convinced me to pick oversized tortoise frames and lenses with a brown gradient tint. Looking back, it was no coincidence that boys wouldn’t look at me twice. But seriously, even though they weren’t the best looking glasses, they completely changed my life. For the first time in years, I could see. I mean really see. My hazy window to the world was suddenly crystal clear and I started to truly blossom.

kimye kim kardashian kanye west wedding Kimye Wedding Makeup Artist: Mario DedivanovicBy now, you’ve probably heard all of the Kimye wedding details. Kim Kardashian wore a Givenchy Haute Couture lace gown (she slipped into a bodycon Balmain dress post-ceremony) and Kanye West was outfitted in a custom Givenchy tuxedo. Not to be outdone, little North wore a dress also designed by Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci. The couple exchanged Lorraine Schwartz wedding bands, were serenaded by John Legend, and are currently honeymooning in Ireland.

Kim’s wedding hair was styled by Jennifer Aniston’s homeboy Chris McMillan. But do you know who’s responsible for her flawless wedding makeup? That would be my friend (and makeup wizard) Mario Dedivanovic. He did Kim’s makeup for her last wedding. Khloe’s too. CONTINUE READING

Brighten Up with Dermalogica Tri-Active Cleanse

dermalogica tri active cleanse cleanser Brighten Up with Dermalogica Tri Active CleanseAs many of you know, I am currently pregnant. Very pregnant, in fact. I am due to give birth a week from tomorrow…and I am so ready to meet my little girl.

This pregnancy has been rough. Not that my first pregnancy with my son, Westley, was easy – but this one makes that one seem like a walk in the park. I’ve had quite a few unexpected pregnancy complications and, on top of that, I’ve felt pretty unattractive these past nine months. They say when you’re carrying a girl, she “steals your beauty.” And in my case, the old wives was 100% true.

First, I grew muttonchops. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration. But they were pretty damned close. I’ve always had fine little hairs on the sides of my face. For years, it made me embarassed and I thought about ripping all of those baby hairs out – but then I thought about the upkeep factor and ruled it out. When the baby hairs morphed into muttonchops, I decided it was time for action. So I went to my local threading place and had those puppies waxed off.

Then came the melasma (aka ‘pregnancy mask’). Melasma is blotchy brown patches that develop on the skin due to hormonal changes. My case wasn’t as severe as some of the photos I’ve seen in Google images, but my uneven skin tone was enough to make me seriously self-conscious. There are a million products on the market right now that promise to address hyperpigmentation, but I was afraid to try something new for fear I’d break out (pregnancy also makes my skin more sensitive and reactive). So what’s a pregnant, blotchy beauty blogger to do? CONTINUE READING

lush cosmetics store Why Lush is Luscious

Hello Spoiled Pretty readers.  I am thrilled to be a contributing writer for SP!  I’ve been looking for a hobby and thought “why don’t I funnel my interests to one place?”  I hope that you enjoy my suggestions as we go through the journey of my new hobby together.

First and foremost – I absolutely LOVE Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics products.  My first experience in one of their stores dates back 5ish years.  My mother, sister and I were on our way home from a Yankees game (a tradition of ours), and we had some time to kill before getting to our train.  We were on 14th Street walking away from Union Square when an adorable young man coaxed us into the shop promising us free facials and hand treatments.  The scent that was pouring out of the door and into the New York City air was intoxicating.  It was sweet and delicious – so we decided to indulge ourselves… CONTINUE READING

Mother’s Day Gift Guide: Orchids from ProPlants

mothers day proplants ruelala Blush Blooming Orchid Mothers Day Gift Guide: Orchids from ProPlants

One of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts for Mama Spoiled Pretty is a beautiful floral bouquet. Yes, flowers can be a bit cliche…but when done correctly, they’re the perfect present. First, when purchasing flowers, it’s best to plan in advance. A store-bought bouquet with the price tag still on it is the antithesis of a thoughtful gesture. Plus, you’re giving your lovely mom work to do – because now she has to find an appropriate vase, cut the stems and arrange the flowers. And, it may be just me…but no matter how hard I arrange those flowers, I can never get them to look as good in the vase as they looked in the cellophane.

So do yourself (and your mom) a favor and order some professionally arranged flowers – and have them delivered to your mom’s door. I’ve yet to meet a woman who doesn’t get giddy from a flower delivery. Plus, the surprise factor kicks the gift up a few notches.

Right now, RueLaLa is having a ProPlants sale. For $21-49, you can send your mother these artfully arranged orchids:

One Blush Blooming Orchid, $30 (originally $49): Pictured above, this double-stem pink mini phalaenopsis orchid plant comes in a hexagonal white ceramic vase. 30+ blooms can last up to eight weeks. CONTINUE READING

mothers day Mothers Day Gift Guide: Tory Burch Key Fobs For a long time, Mother’s Day was just another Hallmark holiday to me. Time to buy the obligatory bouquet and card, right? That is until I had my son, Westley. Only then did I understand what a difficult (and rewarding) job motherhood truly is. And now that Westley is 3.5-years-old and I’m 2 months shy of welcoming his little sister into the world, Mother’s Day holds even more meaning for me. So do me a favor. This Mother’s Day, I want you to spoil the mothers in your life. It’s okay if your wallet is a little light. We moms appreciate a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful email/text message and – yes – the obligatory bouquet or card. But in case you’re feeling generous this year, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Mother’s Day gift suggestions over the next 10 days or so.   tory burch amanda round cross body handbag Mothers Day Gift Guide: Tory Burch Key FobsAfter years of coveting a Tory Burch handbag, I recently bit the bullet and gifted myself with this Amanda Round Crossbody Bag. Now, I’m a Tory Burch convert coveting more fabulous accessories.
