Susana Monaco Flutter Tube Dress

I just had to share how much I adore this Susana Monaco 'Flutter Tube Dress' I just bought from Shopbop.com.  I'm usually very hesitant to buy clothing online because I'm short and curvy and I can't be assured that something will look right until I try it on. And even when I do buy clothes off the Internet, they're CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. Hanae Mori: Butterfly Eau Fraiche

eau fraiche Hanae Mori: Butterfly Eau Fraiche
My signature scent is Hanae Mori Butterfly. I’ve been wearing it for so long that I can’t quite remember when I was first introduced to the fragrance. Hanae Mori Butterfly even got me in a fight once. A few years back, one of my BFF’s and I had this ridiculous argument over who has been wearing Butterfly the longest. The answer is me, for the record.

Given my obsession, I was so ecstatic to hear that Hanae Mori will soon release a limited edition fragrance for spring and summer 2008: Butterfly Eau Fraiche.

“Eau Fraiche is the first non-linear Hanae Mori women’s fragrance – that is, the first Hanae Mori fragrance that changes on the skin over time,” says Hanae Mori. “The house has traditionally favored fragrances with one, unchanging note. Yet this new limited edition fragrance features a summery top note of grapefruit and tangerine that lifts like a butterfly from the skin and leaves a light, sun-kissed blend of fruits, berries and woods.”

Notes include: tangerine and grapefruit (top); strawberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, bilberries, Bulgarian rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and peony (middle); and rosewood, almondwood, sandalwood and cedar (base).

Hanae Mori Eau Fraiche will be available in April/May 2008 at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, select Macy’s and Sephora.

Price is $65 for 3.4 fl. oz

Shu Uemura Makes Water?

00962BrittnyGasti DeGuire 5578515 Shu Uemura Makes Water?
What is model/socialite/reality TV star Brittny Gastineau’s secret to flawless skin? She swears by Depsea Water. Clearly, shu uemura makes some mean makeup – but water? Who knew?

I did some research…and here’s the Cliff’s Notes version:

su water Shu Uemura Makes Water?shu uemura Depsea Water – aka, “water from the depths of the sea” – resides far below the ocean surface where sunlight does not reach, at 320 meters. Deep-sea water contains more than 60 ocean minerals to boost the natural function of the skin; it also has a high affinity with human skin and can quickly absorb to rapidly refresh and hydrate skin. Compared to surface sea water, deep-sea water has three superior characteristics:

* PURITY without any deterioration from acid rain or industrial draining
* RICHNESS of minerals and nutrient substance
* STABILITY in low temperature

The mineral rich water can be found only in three locations in the world – in the coastal waters off Hawaii, Norway and Japan’s Cape Muroto in Kochi Prefecture. In order to explore the potential of deep-sea water in cosmetics, Mr. Shu Uemura founded the Muroto Factory Museum in Kochi Prefecture in 1989, and shu uemura cosmetics became the first company in the world to incorporate deep-sea water into cosmetic products.

Depsea Water is completely free of artificial color, but natural aromatic extracts are added to become lightly scented mists that rejuvenate and hydrate the skin, hair and body. It can be used anytime to revive spirits and provide hydration. Available in 11 scents.
