If You Have Hair, The Wet Brush is a Must Have

For years, I have used an oversized wide-tooth comb to detangle my notoriously impossible to detangle post-shampoo hair. The amount of hair that would get caught in the teeth was somewhat alarming. But I chalked it up to the fact that I only wash my hair once a week - so maybe the hair loss really wasn't all that CONTINUE READING

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Cover April Issue of Vogue

Welp, folks, it looks like Kanye finally wore Anna Wintour down and got his baby mama a coveted Vogue cover. So the rumors were true. There was buzz a few months back that Kim would cover the fashion bible, but then everyone assumed it would be a foreign Vogue - given Anna's alleged aversion to all things Kardashian. Thank Heaven For Heatherette

heatherette Thank Heaven For Heatherette
Yesterday, Mr. Spoiled Pretty and I went over my parents’ house for Easter Dinner. When I walked through the front door, I immediately noticed my mom’s sassy lipcolor.

Here’s how the convo went down…

Mom: Do you like my new lipstick?
Me: Actually, I really do. What lipstick is that?
Mom: Oh, it’s from MAC. That new stuff. I can’t remember the name.
Me: From Heatherette?
Mom: Yeah, that’s it! Hollywood Nights is the name, I think.

What the bleep?!?! My mother is down with Heatherette? Here I thought I was too cute with my lips slicked in Sock Hop – and my mother goes and tops me by wearing in-your-face fuchsia.

I guess the point of this story is to emphasize the universal appeal of this color collection. From club kids to soccer moms (and all of us in between), everyone is loving Heatherette. And from the swatches below, you can see why. Nothing fell short of my expectations, which speaks volumes – because I had high hopes for Heatherette.

Which products are my favorites? They’re all amazing. But let’s put it this way…if I had a limited budget, here are the ones I’d pick up, mos def:

Hollywood Nights Lipstick
Sock Hop Lipglass
Heatherette Trio 1
Any of the Dual Edge Eye Pencils (you can’t go wrong)

And without further ado, my pics…

marimekko Marimekkos Latest Collabo
Marimekko has been busy lately. First, the Finnish textile and clothing design company inspired Manolo Blahnik’s Spring/Summer ’08 collection. Then we learned that Marimekko agreed to lend their bold prints to H&M’s Spring ’08 collection.

Now, it turns out that they’re taking the leap from fashion to beauty. Avon formed an exclusive collaboration with Marimekko, to license its signature Unikko pattern to create a limited edition cosmetics collection. The Marimekko for Avon Color Collection will include eye shadow, face powder, lipgloss, mascara and accessories.

“Avon is committed to the vision that all women should have access to great style and fashion. We’re thrilled to partner with global design powerhouse Marimekko – we are so impressed with their great reputation for creating fun, lively, fashion-forward designs. We feel confident that our customers will enjoy the merger of Marimekko’s energetic designs with the innovation of the Avon Color Brand,” said Geralyn Breig, Senior Vice President and Brand President for Avon Products, Inc.

The Marimekko for Avon Color Collection is slated to launch later this year in the U.S., Europe, Mexico and Asia.

Heatherette’s line for MAC was supposed debut next week. But MAC knew we couldn’t wait to see what Traver Rains and Richie Rich has up their sequined sleeves.

“When we were going over to the MAC offices, Richie swiped his arm over the dresser and put in sequins, rhinestone, bows, and a can of Krylon pink spray paint. That was the color we ended up using for the packaging,” says Traver. “We wanted the sparkle from the sequins and the hologram from some of our fabrics, and we ended up getting it all.”

Hanae Mori: Butterfly Eau Fraiche

eau fraiche Hanae Mori: Butterfly Eau Fraiche
My signature scent is Hanae Mori Butterfly. I’ve been wearing it for so long that I can’t quite remember when I was first introduced to the fragrance. Hanae Mori Butterfly even got me in a fight once. A few years back, one of my BFF’s and I had this ridiculous argument over who has been wearing Butterfly the longest. The answer is me, for the record.

Given my obsession, I was so ecstatic to hear that Hanae Mori will soon release a limited edition fragrance for spring and summer 2008: Butterfly Eau Fraiche.

“Eau Fraiche is the first non-linear Hanae Mori women’s fragrance – that is, the first Hanae Mori fragrance that changes on the skin over time,” says Hanae Mori. “The house has traditionally favored fragrances with one, unchanging note. Yet this new limited edition fragrance features a summery top note of grapefruit and tangerine that lifts like a butterfly from the skin and leaves a light, sun-kissed blend of fruits, berries and woods.”

Notes include: tangerine and grapefruit (top); strawberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, bilberries, Bulgarian rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and peony (middle); and rosewood, almondwood, sandalwood and cedar (base).

Hanae Mori Eau Fraiche will be available in April/May 2008 at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, select Macy’s and Sephora.

Price is $65 for 3.4 fl. oz
