Mom and me, circa 1979

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps.
I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING
At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING
As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING
I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries.

After beauty products, handbags are my secondary addiction. But when it comes to arm candy, I have discriminating taste. For me, the perfect handbag seamlessly marries fashion with function, is handcrafted from high-quality materials, has really unique hardware and is classic but edgy - all at the same time. I don't like to carry the of-the-moment "it" bag. I CONTINUE READING
Earlier this month, Kate Spade (aka creator of cuteness and the reason why I can't seem to keep money in my wallet), launched a brand new line called Kate Spade Saturday.

Hello, Spoiled Pretty readers! I am so excited to be the newest contributor here at SP! First, a little bit about me — I am a Korean-American woman, which means I have naturally poker-straight hair. The good part about my hair is that it’s low maintenance and manageable. As for the downside, it’s lifeless and as limp as a wet noodle. So what can a girl do about flat, melba-toast hair?
I recently had a body booster face-off with two products that promised to put some pep into my hair: TRESemme 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray and Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse. First up, the spray. The spray comes blasting out of the aerosol can at 100 miles an hour, a la Aqua Net. After a few seconds of spraying the product while hanging my head upside down I looked in the mirror and saw the Bride of Frankenstein looking back at me — body boosting indeed. A quick run-through with the comb and my hair was under control with much more bounce than usual.
For a less dramatic boost to your do’, the mousse delivers just like any other mousse. There is no dramatic unleashing as with the spray. What sets this product apart is that it smells absolutely amazing and is so lightweight that you would never know any product is in your hair. That unwanted crunch that some products leave behind is non-existent after applying this mousse. CONTINUE READING

This holiday season, OPI celebrates the 50th Anniversary of James Bond with their latest lacquers, the Skyfall Collection. Inspired by the film’s blend of glamour and danger, the collection features twelve limited-edition nail lacquers and a 18k gold leaf top coat. “OPI is thrilled to celebrate 50 years of the style, swagger and mystique associated with Bond 007,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “From metallic and glitter finishes to jewel tones and even a jet black, these lacquers capture the film’s sophisticated and glamorous look.
“Watch for Bérénice Marlohe wearing two Skyfall Collection shades in the film,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “With Skyfall, a rich maroon, painted on top of the nail and GoldenEye, a shimmering gold, painted on the undersides, Marlohe’s luxurious manicure will be the one to try this holiday season.”
The Skyfall Collection features six shades that play off the movie’s seductive theme, and another six that offer a more dangerous look, including:
GoldenEye: All eyes will be upon you when you wear this glorious gold.
The Spy Who Loved Me: A red as romantic as the secret agent inside you. CONTINUE READING

I can’t believe how late I am to the St. Ives Apricot Scrub partay.
St. Ives Apricot Scrub is a perennial award winner (it’s like the Meryl Streep of the skin care world) and beauty gurus rave about it. I recently tried it for the first time and after I marveled at my baby butt smooth face, I immediately started kicking myself for waiting so long to give it a try.
The scrub exfoliates dull skin away for a smooth and radiant look. The 100 percent natural exfoliants (which include apricots and walnuts) are known to brighten skin; corn kernel meal, which is known to improve skin’s appearance, increases cell turnover. The classic scrub was also newly formulated to be 100 percent sulfate-free.
And now it comes in four formulas, so you can choose the one that meets your skin’s unique needs. CONTINUE READING

This past Spring, I embarked on the 2012 Eucerin Healthy Skin Challenge. To kick off this partnership, I had a consultation with Dr. Deborah Sarnoff, a NYC dermatologist. After discussing my skin issues, she recommended the following Eucerin products for me:
After using the products for four months, I had a follow-up consultation with Dr. Sarnoff. Watch the video for a recap of my evaluation and the progress I’ve made, as well as some great tips Dr. Sarnoff gave me for the coming months.
You can get in on the action too. Visit the “Digital Derm” tab on the Eucerin Facebook page! This tab offers you the chance to ask one of Eucerin’s Skin First Council dermatologists a question about their skincare and find a local dermatologist near your home. And if you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow @EucerinUS.
