Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Carol’s Daughter Vanilla Petals Body Cream

carols daughter vanilla petals body cream shea souffle1 Carols Daughter Vanilla Petals Body Cream

Carol’s Daughter Body Cream is my hands-down favorite body moisturizer. It’s so decadently thick, it’s like a treat every time you smooth it on. And the formula is hydrating as all get-out. Plus, they smell amazing. I’m partial to the vanilla-based scents, which are all elegant and inspired takes on the classic scent.

Anyway, for the past few weeks, I’ve been lotioning up with Carol’s Daughter Body Butter in Vanilla Petals. I got a travel-sized jar in a set that I featured in my Holiday 2012 Gift Guide. Anyway, I just got around to using it and I can’t stop sniffing myself. I absolutely LOVE this scent. It’s described as a having notes of French marshmallow, soft florals and vanilla. To me, it smells like a mashup of buttercream and baby powder. Sounds weird, but it totally works. It’s warm and feminine – perfect for this season.

Now that I am almost finished with the jar, I’m weighing my options. I could replenish my stock by buying the full-sized jar or if I should go out on a limb and try their latest vanilla concoction: Lavender & Vanilla. I love both of those scents and Carol’s Daughter has never disappointed me with one of their vanilla interpretations. Here’s what Lisa Price, Carol’s Daughter founder, had to say about it:

“I’ve always loved the way Lavender makes me feel calm, and I happen to have a not-so-secret love affair with Vanilla. The combination of Lavender and Vanilla is like the best of both worlds: cool and warm; fresh and exotic – all at the same time.”

Well, I’m sold. I fully intend to investigate and report back.

Carol’s Daughter products are available at Sephora, Macy’s and Ulta.

Spoiled Pretty Philadelphia Style Magazine Philadelphia Style Magazine Shares My Fall Beauty Faves

A few weeks ago, Philadelphia Style Magazine interviewed me for a feature on their website. Since I’m a beauty junkie and can’t resist the opportunity to dish on my favorite products, the story evolved into “Daneen Baird of Spoiled Pretty’s 6 Fall Beauty Picks.” As a Philly gal (born and raised) and a big fan of the magazine (I made the print edition back in 2008 – less than a year after launching this blog), it was awesome to come full circle and to be profiled again. Here’s how they introduced me…

Beauty blogger extraordinaire and Philadelphia resident Daneen Baird knows a thing or two about putting your best face forward. At the helm of the award-winning website, Spoiled Pretty, Baird is constantly ahead-of-the-trend and in-the-know when it comes to the latest and greatest in beauty products and cosmetics. From nail polish reviews to insider tricks of the trade, Baird dishes it all with a bit of sass.

Exfolimate Exfoliate with Exfolimate

As a beauty blogger, I’ve seen and tried a plethora of products and tools – and I’m not easily impressed. It takes a very special product – something that’s truly innovative and effective – to knock my socks off. Exfolimate, the latest addition to my “holy grail” list, did just that. Here’s the product description:

Say G’day to ultra smooth skin and goodbye to dull, flakey skin. Introducing Exfolimate – the ultimate tool to give you younger, fresher looking and feeling skin. Designed in Australia – Exfolimate is your handy mate to instant exfoliation and pore clarification without the fuss of scrubs and loofahs that only rub the surface of your skin without actually removing the problem.

The secret is Exfolimate’s innovative micro-groove technology etched into the smooth metal edge. The micro-grooves gently lift and remove lingering skin cells and debris to unveil younger, fresher skin. Exfolimate is made to gently exfoliate the face and body and is precision designed for daily exfoliation and naturally skin clearing results. Exfolimate transforms the surface of your skin.

I was going to write about Exfolimate, but it was so amazing that a traditional review wouldn’t suffice. So I taped a video about it. Like to hear it? Here it go….

Exfolimate is $37 for two-piece face and body tool set. Go get you one today (you can thank me later).

Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder Gel Monistat Makes a Face Primer? Well, Sort Of...

If you’re like me and your thighs touch when you walk, you understand how literally irritating this can be. Especially during the summertime, the friction can cause chafing, rashes and overall discomfort. To combat this, I had taken to wearing my Spanx ‘Slimplicity’ High-Waisted Girl Shorts under dresses and skirts. But in oppressive heat and humidity, the last thing you want is an extra layer of clothes. So I was over the moon when I discovered Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. The easy-to-apply gel dries to form a silky, breathable barrier to fight friction. One application lasts all day – plus it’s fragrance-free and non-staining.

What’s even better? It doubles as a makeup primer. Yes, girl, you heard me me right. The formula looks, feels and performs almost exactly like Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. Except Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel costs around $7-8 (click here for a $2 coupon) for 1.5 oz and a 1.7 oz tube of the Smashbox primer will set you back $49!
