Beautiful Things My Mother Taught Me

Mom and me, circa 1979 Disclosure: This post is sponsored by CoverGirl. Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps. I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. My New Arm Candy: Rebecca Minkoff Swing Bag

After beauty products, handbags are my secondary addiction. But when it comes to arm candy, I have discriminating taste. For me, the perfect handbag seamlessly marries fashion with function, is handcrafted from high-quality materials, has really unique hardware and is classic but edgy - all at the same time. I don't like to carry the of-the-moment "it" bag. I CONTINUE READING

paris+hilton+fairy+dust Paris Hilton Fairy Dust Giveaway!
This month, Paris Hilton adds another perfume to her fragrance resume. Fairy Dust, her collaboration with Parlux Fragrances, is described as “an essence of enchantment, a sensual, seductive floral, which is bright, effervescent and inviting.”

 Paris Hilton Fairy Dust Giveaway!“The scent is magical,” says Paris. “It’s delicate in the morning, sensual during the day and seductive in the evening. When I wear Fairy Dust, I feel as whimsical and free as a dazzling fairy.”

At first twinkling, Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton is sprinkled with floral notes of Pink Peony and Orange Blossom. These bright, fresh essences shine over the radiant effervescence of sparkling Prosecco Accord, becoming a warm, inviting toast to the powers of enchantment. At the Heart, a bouquet of spring Gardenia and Water Lily presents itself and Peach Nectar adds warmth to this cool entic-ing expression of playful femininity. Lingering on the skin is an alluring blend of Vanilla Créme and Cashmere Musk wrapped around a rich and woody Sueded Patchouli. The scent of the forest where fairies linger, deep, smooth and tantalizing.

The Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton Fragrance Collection consists of a 3.4 oz. Eau de Parfum Spray ($55.00), 1.7 oz. Eau de Parfum Spray ($45.00) and a 6.7 oz. Body Lotion ($28.00).

Danielle Fishel Dishes On Her Shampoo Commercial Hair: Grape Children’s Conditioner?

danielle+fishel Danielle Fishel Dishes On Her Shampoo Commercial Hair: Grape Children’s Conditioner?
I am obsessed with The Dish.

thedish nav 260 Danielle Fishel Dishes On Her Shampoo Commercial Hair: Grape Children’s Conditioner?The Style Network’s new weekly wrap-up of red carpet trends, celebrity gossip and reality TV ridiculousness has quickly become one of my guilty pleasures. Since its August debut, I haven’t missed an episode. And I don’t have TiVo or DVR or any of that new-fangled technology, which attests to the addictive nature of The Dish.

Recently, I had the opportunity to interview the show’s saucy host, Danielle Fishel. Danielle is best known for her role as Topanga on Boy Meets World. But after watching one eppy of The Dish, you’ll be so impressed by this snarkstress’ sass and comic timing, the farthest thing from your mind will be Topanga’s saccharinely sweet romance with one Cory Matthews.

SP: If I opened up your handbag right now, what beauty products would I find inside?
DF: 42 types of lip balm! My favorite is Victoria’s Secret called “Balmy Night” because its really moisturizing. I also love Bobbi Brown for some color and MAC Plushglass. I dont need the plumping effect per se, but I love the tingling sensation and it doesnt ever leave that white film in the corners of your mouth! YUCK!

SP: What is your signature scent?
DF: I can’t really say that I have a signature scent because I LOVE perfume and have a large glass tray with over 30 kinds of perfume, ranging from clean to sweet to spicy. Sometimes I wear a different one every day of the week and other times, I stick with one for days on end. Some regular favorites are the original Bvlgari Omnia, Tiffany, and Juicy Couture.

SP: You’ve grown up on television, so surely you must have picked up afew makeup tricks/secrets. Care to share?
DF: No. Just kidding…I think my favorite trick is to do your eye makeup first, especially when doing a smoky eye, so that any loose powder that falls on your cheeks can be washed off without ruining the work you’ve done with your foundation!

SP: Danielle, you have shampoo commercial hair…I need to know what hair products you use.
loreal+grape+conditioner Danielle Fishel Dishes On Her Shampoo Commercial Hair: Grape Children’s Conditioner?DF: First of all, THANK YOU, and secondly, I wish there were some great secret I could tell you! I have never stuck with one product for very long although if you must know my longest lasting favorite it was whatever shampoo was on sale combined with Suave Go-Go Grape Children’s Conditioner!!! It has a detangler in it and smells delicious! L’Oreal Kids also makes a grape conditioner with a detangler but it doesn’t have a cool name like Go-Go Grape. icon smile Danielle Fishel Dishes On Her Shampoo Commercial Hair: Grape Children’s Conditioner? Outside of that, I do not use any products. I hate hairspray and serums and all of that. It just makes my hair feel heavy and weighed-down. I wash my hair and blow dry it with a metal round brush (I only wash and dry my hair once every 4-5 days which is why it is still healthy, but I’m lucky that I dont get greasy hair!) and then I go. I usually don’t even brush it again until it’s time to wash it.

Thanks, Danielle! See you Saturday night.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…

Amazing Grace is Simply Irresistible

amazing+grace Amazing Grace is Simply IrresistibleLast night, my sister and I took a cab to the Walish Gooshe Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show (more on that later). And the driver was so intoxicated by our choice of fragrance, Philosophy Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Spritz, that he made me repeat the name at least six or seven times, so that he wouldn’t forget. He told me that his sister would love the scent and wanted to know where he could purchase it. What a thoughtful brother, right? I told him Sephora, which he repeated over and over so that he wouldn’t forget that either.

It’s no wonder Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Spritz was awarded the gold medal in the 2008 Summer Beauty Olympics. The scent is simply irresistible.

Take it away, Robert and fierce fembots…

Time Release Technology for Thierry Mugler Angel Body Products

Naomi+Watts+Angel Time Release Technology for Thierry Mugler Angel Body Products
Thierry Mugler Angel Les Parfums Corps, a nine-unit collection of items for the body, will launch this fall. And thanks to time-release technology, each product in the line gives off Angel’s scent for “as long and as faithfully as the actual eau de parfum itself,” says Women’s Wear Daily.

Joel Palix, President of Thierry Mugler Worldwide adds, “It is a way to release perfume in gel
over eight hours…This is a kind of revolution in the olfactive industry.”

Angel Les Parfums Corps will debut in September – exclusively at Nordstrom in the United States. In October, the collection will launch worldwide.

The product lineup will include:

* 200-ml. body cream ($80)
* 200-ml. Body lotion ($50)
* 200-ml. body oil ($45)
* 200-ml. shower gel ($40)
* 200-ml. exfoliating cream ($40)
* 30-ml. hair mist ($29)
* 100-ml. hand cream ($25)
*50-ml. roll-on deodorant ($25)

Exclusive to Bloomingdale’s (U.S.) in October will be a 30-ml., limited edition perfumed gel for $55.

angel Time Release Technology for Thierry Mugler Angel Body ProductsThe Angelic face for this collection will be none other than Naomi Watts, who will also be the
face of Thierry Mugler Beauty makeup starting in 2009.

Spoiled Pretty’s take: Maybe I’m not understanding…but if these amazing new products are engineered to be as potent and enduring as the Angel Eau de Parfum, then why would someone spend $72 on 0.8 ounces of the actual fragrance when they could just buy hair mist and deodorant and save $18?
