I am obsessed with The Dish.
The Style Network’s new weekly wrap-up of red carpet trends, celebrity gossip and reality TV ridiculousness has quickly become one of my guilty pleasures. Since its August debut, I haven’t missed an episode. And I don’t have TiVo or DVR or any of that new-fangled technology, which attests to the addictive nature of The Dish.
Recently, I had the opportunity to interview the show’s saucy host, Danielle Fishel. Danielle is best known for her role as Topanga on Boy Meets World. But after watching one eppy of The Dish, you’ll be so impressed by this snarkstress’ sass and comic timing, the farthest thing from your mind will be Topanga’s saccharinely sweet romance with one Cory Matthews.
SP: If I opened up your handbag right now, what beauty products would I find inside?
DF: 42 types of lip balm! My favorite is Victoria’s Secret called “Balmy Night” because its really moisturizing. I also love Bobbi Brown for some color and MAC Plushglass. I dont need the plumping effect per se, but I love the tingling sensation and it doesnt ever leave that white film in the corners of your mouth! YUCK!
SP: What is your signature scent?
DF: I can’t really say that I have a signature scent because I LOVE perfume and have a large glass tray with over 30 kinds of perfume, ranging from clean to sweet to spicy. Sometimes I wear a different one every day of the week and other times, I stick with one for days on end. Some regular favorites are the original Bvlgari Omnia, Tiffany, and Juicy Couture.
SP: You’ve grown up on television, so surely you must have picked up afew makeup tricks/secrets. Care to share?
DF: No. Just kidding…I think my favorite trick is to do your eye makeup first, especially when doing a smoky eye, so that any loose powder that falls on your cheeks can be washed off without ruining the work you’ve done with your foundation!
SP: Danielle, you have shampoo commercial hair…I need to know what hair products you use.
DF: First of all, THANK YOU, and secondly, I wish there were some great secret I could tell you! I have never stuck with one product for very long although if you must know my longest lasting favorite it was whatever shampoo was on sale combined with Suave Go-Go Grape Children’s Conditioner!!! It has a detangler in it and smells delicious! L’Oreal Kids also makes a grape conditioner with a detangler but it doesn’t have a cool name like Go-Go Grape. Outside of that, I do not use any products. I hate hairspray and serums and all of that. It just makes my hair feel heavy and weighed-down. I wash my hair and blow dry it with a metal round brush (I only wash and dry my hair once every 4-5 days which is why it is still healthy, but I’m lucky that I dont get greasy hair!) and then I go. I usually don’t even brush it again until it’s time to wash it.

Last night, my sister and I took a cab to the Walish Gooshe Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show (more on that later). And the driver was so intoxicated by our choice of fragrance, Philosophy Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Spritz, that he made me repeat the name at least six or seven times, so that he wouldn’t forget. He told me that his sister would love the scent and wanted to know where he could purchase it. What a thoughtful brother, right? I told him Sephora, which he repeated over and over so that he wouldn’t forget that either.
It’s no wonder Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Spritz was awarded the gold medal in the 2008 Summer Beauty Olympics. The scent is simply irresistible.

Thierry Mugler Angel Les Parfums Corps, a nine-unit collection of items for the body, will launch this fall. And thanks to time-release technology, each product in the line gives off Angel’s scent for “as long and as faithfully as the actual eau de parfum itself,” says Women’s Wear Daily.

over eight hours…This is a kind of revolution in the olfactive industry.”
Angel Les Parfums Corps will debut in September – exclusively at Nordstrom in the United States. In October, the collection will launch worldwide.

Spoiled Pretty’s take: Maybe I’m not understanding…but if these amazing new products are engineered to be as potent and enduring as the Angel Eau de Parfum, then why would someone spend $72 on 0.8 ounces of the actual fragrance when they could just buy hair mist and deodorant and save $18?

This fall, Fresh will expand its fragrance portfolio with a new scent, Strawberry Flowers, created in celebration of Sephora’s 10th anniversary. The company is also expanding its bath and body, skin care and makeup offerings with a bevy of new beauty products.
Launching exclusively at Sephora in September, Strawberry Flowers Eau de Parfum is a fruity floral scent, designed specifically for a younger, Sephora customer. The fragrance, inspired by the scents of a typical spring morning, is composed of top notes of mandarin, yuzu and white peach, middle notes of mountain strawberries, freesia, orange blossom and osmanthus, and base notes of orris, musk and white woods.
Also in September, Fresh will debut the Fig Apricot body care collection, based on its top-selling Fig Apricot Eau de Parfum, which launched a decade ago. The collection will include a bath/shower gel and a body cream and will be sold at Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bluemercury.
Fresh’s fall color collection includes the Imperial Bedroom Face Palette, and a new Firebird Mascara. The palette’s cream-based colors include iridescent pearl and warm antique gold eye shades, an opalescent black eyeliner, a shimmer highlighter for the cheeks and a deep red gloss for the lips. Inspired by a Russian fairy tale and based on the company’s best-selling mascara, Fresh Supernova, Firebird is designed to thicken, lengthen and curl lashes. “Supernova gives your lashes a thick, dark and more defined look, whereas the soft lightweight fibers on the Firebird brush gives it a feathery and flirty feel,” said Alina Roytberg, Fresh’s co-founder and creative director.
Fresh has also come out with Twilight Freshface Glow, a multifunctional illuminating cream. The primer is designed to be used as a highlighter along cheekbones, brow bones and décolletage. On the retail front, Fresh has plans to open several freestanding stores by the end of the year.
This month, the company will open a location in Century City, Calif., followed by another store in Dallas’ Northpark Center in October. The company is also looking to open a store in Philadelphia (oh please, please…with Sugar Lip Treatment on top!) along with additional stores in the Northeast.
