Southern California designer Cynthia Holvey (and cousin of George Clooney) created a line of trend-setting, inspirational bracelets inscribed with empowering affirmations. The collection – including enamel bangles, leather and metal bracelets, and an eco-friendly organic cotton bracelet – have become popular with celebrities such as Christina Applegate, Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Garner, Kourtney Kardashian, Olivia Wilde, and Michelle Trachtenberg.

“I designed the line to have an edge but be classic enough to go with any outfit. More importantly, the jewelry is meant to inspire, motivate and empower people. I never leave the house without a bracelet and when I look down at my wrist I have a better day,” says Holvey.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Spoiled Pretty has teamed up with Cynthia H Designs for a giveaway. Three readers will win a Love Enamel Bangle. The metal and enamel bracelet offers a repeating artistic display of scripted inspirational sayings (Love Who You Are, Follow Your Passion, Live In The Moment, Love & Laugh). For the second year in a row, online retailers drugstore.com and Beauty.com participated in Village at the Yard, the must-attended gifting lounge to see and be seen at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Drugstore.com created an “Uncommon Giving Lounge” stocked with Sundance Film Festival essentials like cold medicine, pain relievers, lip balms and hand and face lotion, while partner site Beauty.com offered prestige makeup and skincare products. Whether celebrities forgot to pack something for their trip or didn’t think about everything they would actually need once they got to Sundance – A-listers including Susan Sarandon, Jill Hennessey, Lisa Kudrow, Emmy Rossum, Brittany Snow and Emma Roberts flocked to Uncommon Giving Lounge to pick up items such as Advil, Airborne, Mission lip balm, Stila bronzer, Anastasia brow kits and special Beauty.com designer collaboration bags from Shoshanna and Lela Rose.

Celebrities and other VIP guests also had the opportunity to shop the sites on the spot to order items they want to be waiting on their doorstops when they get back home. And, in the spirit of giving, drugstore.com also donated some much needed essentials – including humidifiers, sun care and first aid supplies – to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the world’s largest family of camps for children with serious medical conditions.

I don’t know about you, but I think it’s so refreshing that China Glaze decided against the clichéd Valentine’s Day color palette. If I see one more brand pushing red and pink foil hearts floating in a bottle of clear lacquer, I’m going to scream.

As the name implies, these shades are romantic and whimsical, but the chrometastic finish gives them edge. The formula is pigment-rich, so you really only need one coat; however, metallics tend to highlight every ridge in the nail, so you would be smart to buff and/or apply a base coat, pre-polish.

My current faves are Magical and Joy. Speaking of Joy, I’d better keep this one away from Mama Spoiled Pretty (also named Joy) before she starts begging. Mom loves a purple polish, and she somehow manages to relieve me of almost every plum, grape and eggplanty shade that comes into my possession. But she did “bring me into this world” and “never let me want for anything” – so I suppose I could share.
