ConairPro Yellow Bird Hair Dryer

Conair Yellow Bird Hair DryerWhen it comes to hair dryers, the most important feature to me is a pik attachment. Some women need a concentrator attachment to achieve a salon quality blowout. I need a pik attachment to simultaneously dry and straighten my relaxed hair. So when the pik attachment from my old hair dryer broke nearly every last tooth, I went on a quest to find a new dryer – because it’s easier to start from scratch and get a new dryer that comes with a pik attachment than to find a new pik to fit my old dryer. Those of you who require a pik know. The struggle is real.

So after an exhaustive search, I found an awesome replacement. It’s called the ConairPro YellowBird Hair Dryer. As the name implies, this dryer is used – and beloved – by many professional hairstylists.

They likely love it for the same reasons I do:   (more…)

Wash Your Hair Without Water: Klorane Dry Shampoo Review

klorane dry shampooFor years, I have read in magazines or heard my hair dressers talk about how it’s not necessary to shampoo your hair everyday. This concept was outrageous to me because mid-way through the day when I don’t wash my hair, it feels and looks oily.

Over the past year or so, my friends started to talk about ho

w dry shampoo has changed their lives. In particular, my friend Elise would bring up dry shampoo anytime we would get on the topic of beauty products. Her hair is similar to mine, so I decided to try the award-winning Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I selected the dry shampoo with oat milk with the aerosol spray.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

blow pefect shower cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them all. And no matter how much they cost – from the flimsy free ones you swipe from a hotel to the more expensive caps – they’ve always let me down. They inadvertently allow moisture in. Or the elastic band loosens, allowing strands of hair to escape the shower cap and get all soaked up. Don’t you just HATE that?

After decades of the shower (and sub par shower caps) putting a damper on my do, I didn’t think it was possible to make it an entire week without steam wrecking my blow dry/flat iron handiwork. That is, until I discovered The Perfect Shower Cap from BlowPro four years ago. Seriously, the name does not exaggerate. (more…)

If You Have Hair, The Wet Brush is a Must Have

the wet brush detangling

For years, I have used an oversized wide-tooth comb to detangle my notoriously impossible to detangle post-shampoo hair. The amount of hair that would get caught in the teeth was somewhat alarming. But I chalked it up to the fact that I only wash my hair once a week – so maybe the hair loss really wasn’t all that bad. Detangling with the comb also took a long time and was kind of painful.

So when I heard about The Wet Brush, I contacted the company and requested a sample for review. They gladly sent me one – and, girls, I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s changed my life.

The first time I used it (which was a month ago), I was shocked. While it looks like an ordinary hairbrush, its bristles slip and slide through hair with ease – untangling even the most matted mess. Starting at the ends, I brushed my way up and was floored that the entire detangling process took half the time it usually does. And it was completely painless. Not to mention the amount of hair left in the brush was like one-tenth the size of the hairball that my wide tooth comb used to rip out of my head. Huzzah! (more…)
