Because my hair is over-processed, dry and damaged, I only wash it about once a week. Which means that when I “do” it, I better do it right – or else my hair will look jacked for the next seven days. Forget a bad hair day; it’s more like a bad hair week for me. So when I’m offered the chance to review new hair product samples to review, I’m usually reluctant. But not this time, because it was Pantene doing the offering—and I’m a big fan of the brand.
A few weeks ago, Pantene reached out with an offer to send me one of their new-ish lines to review: Truly Relaxed or Truly Natural. I have chemically straightened hair and have used the Truly Relaxed products off-and-on for almost a year (they’re pretty fabulous), so I opted to try the Truly Natural line. Even though my hair hasn’t been in its “natural” state for almost three decades, the product descriptions contained important buzz words like “moisture,” “shine,” and “frizz control”—so I decided to give them a try.
Here’s what Pantene sent me:
Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural Clarifying Shampoo is “designed to gently cleanse your hair’s unique structure and remove buildup—leaving it shiny, clean, and refreshed.” Overall, I really liked this shampoo. It effectively cleansed my hair, but was gentle while doing so. It smells fresh and I love that the formula is silicone, Paraben and dye-free. (more…)
A few weeks ago, Philadelphia Style Magazine interviewed me for a feature on their website. Since I’m a beauty junkie and can’t resist the opportunity to dish on my favorite products, the story evolved into “Daneen Baird of Spoiled Pretty’s 6 Fall Beauty Picks.” As a Philly gal (born and raised) and a big fan of the magazine (I made the print edition back in 2008 – less than a year after launching this blog), it was awesome to come full circle and to be profiled again. Here’s how they introduced me…
Beauty blogger extraordinaire and Philadelphia resident Daneen Baird knows a thing or two about putting your best face forward. At the helm of the award-winning website, Spoiled Pretty, Baird is constantly ahead-of-the-trend and in-the-know when it comes to the latest and greatest in beauty products and cosmetics. From nail polish reviews to insider tricks of the trade, Baird dishes it all with a bit of sass.

Fabulous products are available at every price point. And by that, I don’t mean that you can find some fairly decent prestige knockoffs at your local Target or drugstore. What I do mean is that there are many mass market beauty products that rival ones 10x their price. Case in point: L’Oreal’s new Advanced Haircare collection. Frankly, I think these products are in a league of their own.
I didn’t request samples from L’Oreal, so when a box of shampoos, conditioners and styling products showed up on my doorstep, I didn’t know what to make of them or what made them different/special…until I introduced them to my overprocessed tresses. Last weekend, I tested the following products:
Advanced Haircare Power Moisture Rush Mask: Instantly infuses moisture into every strand. This mask, with its light and luxurious gel-like texture, transforms even dry, dehydrated hair into silky, soft and manageable strands. (more…)
