For years, I have used an oversized wide-tooth comb to detangle my notoriously impossible to detangle post-shampoo hair. The amount of hair that would get caught in the teeth was somewhat alarming. But I chalked it up to the fact that I only wash my hair once a week – so maybe the hair loss really wasn’t all that bad. Detangling with the comb also took a long time and was kind of painful.
So when I heard about The Wet Brush, I contacted the company and requested a sample for review. They gladly sent me one – and, girls, I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s changed my life.
The first time I used it (which was a month ago), I was shocked. While it looks like an ordinary hairbrush, its bristles slip and slide through hair with ease – untangling even the most matted mess. Starting at the ends, I brushed my way up and was floored that the entire detangling process took half the time it usually does. And it was completely painless. Not to mention the amount of hair left in the brush was like one-tenth the size of the hairball that my wide tooth comb used to rip out of my head. Huzzah! (more…)
Hey All! I’m sure many of you are wondering, with this new Urban Decay Naked 3 palette release, if it’s right for you – or if you if you’re a UD Naked palettes newbie, which one is a good fit. As this is their third palette in the Naked series, I feel like it’s pretty important to understand how this one compares to the previously released Naked and Naked 2 palettes. Naked 3 has an overall rose gold theme with 12 eyeshadows in a pretty, wave-textured tin case.
Each palette has 12 shadows, generally flowing from light to dark. The current selling palettes all come with a synthetic eyeshadow brush. Generally speaking, Naked has mostly warm neutrals, Naked 2 is in the neutral-to-taupe range with more drastic light and dark shadows, and Naked 3 is distinctly more pink with a lot of mid-to-light shades. Naked 3 has no copycat shadows in any other collection, which is nice for you palette hoarders out there (you know who you are!) who don’t want dupes.
I love beauty. But what I love more is introducing women to beauty products that they never knew existed but will change their lives. That’s why I started Spoiled Pretty, after all.
I’ve been blogging since 2007 and have posted 2,900+ product reviews and articles. I’ve dropped a lot of knowledge over the past seven years and I encourage you to search the site and get better acquainted. But for those who are short on time or need to quickly get down to the nitty gritty, I’ve added an exciting feature to Spoiled Pretty.
As a beauty blogger, I’ve seen and tried a plethora of products and tools – and I’m not easily impressed. It takes a very special product – something that’s truly innovative and effective – to knock my socks off. Exfolimate, the latest addition to my “holy grail” list, did just that. Here’s the product description:
Say G’day to ultra smooth skin and goodbye to dull, flakey skin. Introducing Exfolimate – the ultimate tool to give you younger, fresher looking and feeling skin. Designed in Australia – Exfolimate is your handy mate to instant exfoliation and pore clarification without the fuss of scrubs and loofahs that only rub the surface of your skin without actually removing the problem.
The secret is Exfolimate’s innovative micro-groove technology etched into the smooth metal edge. The micro-grooves gently lift and remove lingering skin cells and debris to unveil younger, fresher skin. Exfolimate is made to gently exfoliate the face and body and is precision designed for daily exfoliation and naturally skin clearing results. Exfolimate transforms the surface of your skin.
I was going to write about Exfolimate, but it was so amazing that a traditional review wouldn’t suffice. So I taped a video about it. Like to hear it? Here it go….
Exfolimate is $37 for two-piece face and body tool set. Go get you one today (you can thank me later).
I love me some Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils. The Urban Decay website bills these babies as “the best eye pencils ever, ever, ever.” And it’s truth…every word of it. If you don’t own at least one of these liners by now, what are you doing? Are you just reading Spoiled Pretty for the hell of it? I’m trying to help you, girls! In these trying economic times, a woman needs an eyeliner that she can depend on. And this one, my friends, is as good as it gets. If I had to pick my favorite beauty product of all time (which is so hard…it’s like picking your favorite child), Urban Decay’s eyeliners are it.
Anyways, Urban Decay’s 10 vintage shades are now on sale at and Sephora for $9.50. They’re originally $19.00, ladies – so this is HUGE. Whether you’re an Urban Decay newbie or longtime fan, this is prime time to stock up. All of the colors are fabulous and fun, but if you only have one Alexander Hamilton to spend, I highly recommend Deviant, a bold blue. Apply it to the waterline and wait for the compliments to come rolling in.
I just had to share how much I adore this Susana Monaco Flutter Tube Dress I just bought from Shopbop.com. I’m usually very hesitant to buy clothing online because I’m short and curvy and I can’t be assured that something will look right until I try it on. And even when I do buy clothes off the Internet, they’re almost always petite clothes because the proportions on regular clothes make me look like I got dressed in front of a funhouse mirror. But I decided to take a chance on this dress because a) I don’t have any cute going out dresses in my closet, b) this dress is so cute it’s ridiculous and c) it’s on sale for 50% off.
Well, I’m glad I decided to live dangerously because the dress fits amazing and is the most flattering thing I’ve bought in a long time. The double-jersey knit hugs without being restrictive. Plus since it’s not thin, you don’t have to worry about it showing any lumps and bumps. The peplum on top of the skirt plays hide-and-seek with the areas I’m most self conscious about, and makes this body-con dress more wearable for those of us without model bodies. And the color just screams summer, right?
This dress is so hot, I’m building an entire girls’ night around it.
If you’re as enamored with this dress as I am, act quick…it’s going fast. But be sure to check out Susana Monaco’s other dresses Shopbop.com – she’s no one hit wonder.
