Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Cover April Issue of Vogue

Welp, folks, it looks like Kanye finally wore Anna Wintour down and got his baby mama a coveted Vogue cover. So the rumors were true. There was buzz a few months back that Kim would cover the fashion bible, but then everyone assumed it would be a foreign Vogue - given Anna's alleged aversion to all things Kardashian. I CONTINUE READING

darac+tourquam+3+d+face+sculpting+brush Darac TourQuam 3 D Face Sculpting Brush, Nothing Compares 2 U

After using Darac’s TourQuam 3-D Face Sculpting Brush, I have one thing to say to all of the other makeup brushes on the market: you should be ashamed of yourselves.

For applying powder products, nothing compares to the TourQuam brush. Nothing.

This Jetsons-esque tool has a magnet hidden in the handle. Because all powders have an iron oxide, magnetic base, this brush attracts the perfect amount of product. Which means no wasting your precious powders. And no more tapping and blowing on the bristles to avoid looking like a character straight outta Kabuki theater. So not necessary.

Seriously…even you unintentionally heavy-handed makeup junkies will be amazed at how this brush keeps your ‘more is more’ tendencies in check.

Lately, I’ve been using this brush in tandem with my LORAC TANtalizer Baked Matte Satin Bronzer and Fresh Freshface Blush Powder – and I can honestly say that my golden glow and flushed cheeks have never looked more natural.

Darac TourQuam 3-D Face Sculpting Brush, nothing compares 2 u!

Best Body Scrub Since Ever!

Posted on by daneen in Bath and Body, Exfoliation, Holy Grail, Scrub | Leave a comment

dermadoctor+kp+duty+scrub Best Body Scrub Since Ever! There really aren’t enough superlatives in the English language to adequately describe how I feel about DERMAdoctor’s KP Duty Body Scrub. It has got to be the best body scrub ever…and I dare someone to prove me wrong. After using it, my skin rivaled my pal Julia‘s; which, if you met her, would convince you to go out an buy KP Duty this very second.

KP Duty is a dual-action chemical and physical exfoliator that blends the best of a chemical peel and microdermabrasion into a single, easy-to-use treatment. Dermatologist-recommended chemical exfoliants dissolve the glue that cements epidermal cells together, while non-abrasive synthetic beads lift away dead skin cells without inflicting trauma to the epidermis. So, in layman’s terms, this product runs circles around that scrub you’ve got sitting on the edge of your tub.

To use, apply a small amount of the scrub to dry skin and gently massage it in with your fingertips. Rinse, pat dry, and marvel at the smoothness. You won’t believe that the skin you’re touching actually belongs to you.

I’m an exfoliating fool, so when I say KP Duty is the best I’ve ever tried and you NEED to try it too, you know this is sage advice. I really can’t say enough wonderful things about this scrub. It’s one of those rare beauty products that comes along once in a blue moon and blows you away. Use it on arms to reveal skin you never knew was underneath there. Use it on legs for the closest shave you’ve ever had. Use it all over to remind your man why he got with you in the first place.

Quite simply, it’s life changing.

DERMAdoctor KP Duty is available at Sephora and dermadoctor.com.

*This product is not intended for use on the face or for those with sensitive skin. But it works wonders for those of you who suffer from dry skin and/or keratosis pilaris (a common skin disorder typified by “chicken skin” or bumpiness on the surface of the skin).

Living Proof No Frizz Debuts Shampoo and Conditioner!!!

no+frizz Living Proof No Frizz Debuts Shampoo and Conditioner!!!I don’t know who is in the running for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. But I’ll tell you who should be – the people over at Living Proof.

Sure, they haven’t ended any wars or found a way to mend the broken healthcare system in the U.S., but they have achieved the unthinkable. Women worldwide are finally at peace with their hair thanks to Living Proof’s revolutionary No Frizz products.

Developed by a talented team of MIT scientists, No Frizz is a comprehensive collection of cutting-edge, humidity-resistant formulas that work for all hair types. And besides obliterating frizz, these products also manage to smooth hair without a heavy or greasy feel, impart lasting shine and softness, and repel dirt and oil so you can go longer between shampoos.

Ever since I started using the No Frizz styling products “frizz” has ceased to be a word in my vocabulary (except here, obv). I use No Frizz religiously and even take them to the salon with me when I’m getting me hair did. When Spoiled Pretty partnered with Living Proof for a giveaway, the winner wrote back – raving that these are products she’ll use FOR LIFE. I mean, just read her review and tell me you’re not convinced.

As if these styling products weren’t enough of a contribution to society, Living Proof now adds shampoo and conditioner to its repetoire.

living+proof+no+frizz+shampoo+and+conditioner Living Proof No Frizz Debuts Shampoo and Conditioner!!!“We like to refer to these two products as a labor of love for our scientists,” says CEO Rob Robillard. “When we first started introducing the No Frizz styling products to the press and to retailers out there, they kept saying — ‘why don’t you have a shampoo & conditioner?’ Then as all you fans out there learned how great the styling products were you too kept asking — why don’t you have a shampoo & conditioner? The answer was quite simple. We didn’t want to launch just any old shampoo and conditioner, we wanted it to be as revolutionary as our styling products. We wanted you to be blown away again.”

These new daily care products wash away frizz and provide heat protection from tools like blow driers, curling irons and flat irons. The Humidity Blocking, Weightlessly Hydrating, Sulfate-Free Shampoo was developed with PolyfluoroEster and SLMI, a gentle, sulfate-free surfactant, to remove any trace of dirt or oil without stripping the hair. It promises to be the perfect choice for everyday cleansing for all hair types, including color-treated hair. Humidity Blocking, Weightlessly Hydrating, Shine Restoring Conditioner is the natural companion to leave hair soft, shining and hydrated without weighing it down.

Moisture Restoring No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner will soon be added to the No Frizz family. It is an ideal option for drier hair, incorporating PolyfluoroEster with lightweight glycerin as the key moisturizing component instead of heavy oils, a first for a leave-in frizz-fighting product.

No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner are available now at livingproof.com. The entire collection will launch in September 2009 at Sephora and QVC.

spoiled+pretty+volcanic+ash+exfoliator MAC Paints It Black For My BirthdayI don’t usually enjoy knowing what I’m getting for my birthday. But I think I’ll be able to find it in my heart to forgive MAC for opening its lipglass lacquered trap a few months early.

Turns out that the highly-anticipated Style Black collection will be released on my birthday. What makes this such a treat is that the collection will resurrect my favorite scrub of all time…like a phoenix rising from the ashes!

Since last spring’s limited edition Future Earth collection, I’ve been rationing my Volcanic Ash Exfoliator like it was a bag of beans on a season of Survivor. With no idea that MAC had intentions of bringing this beauty gem back from the dead, I’ve been reserving this primorial soup-esque scrub for special occasions. But now that I know I can stock up come September (you’ve never seen hoarding like the kind I’m gonna do this fall), I’m gonna indulge in a little Volcanic Ash scrub-a-dub on a weekly basis.

Mark your calendars for September 24th, when these babies hit real and virtual shelves. Take it from me…you definitely don’t wanna play the ‘shoulda woulda coulda’ game with this holy grail scrub.

Nail Phile Must Have: Zoya Color Lock System

zoya+color+lock+system Nail Phile Must Have: Zoya Color Lock SystemI don’t think you can consider yourself a true nail file if you haven’t heard of Zoya’s Color Lock System. This 5-step kit surrounds polish with a protective barrier against moisture, bubbling, chipping and UV damage. The kit contains: Anchor Basecoat, Get Even Ridge Filling Basecoat, Armor Topcoat & UV Block, Hurry Up Speed Dry Drops, and Renew Polish Rejuvenator.

The Color Lock System also includes one of my favorite nail products of all time: Remove+ Nail Polish Remover. The ingenious bottle prevents the spillage that typically accompanies traditional nail polish removers. Plus the formula is lavender-scented and purple, which is pretty. And you know I love me some pretty.

When it comes to getting manicures, my mom and sister are like the US Postal Service…through rain, snow, sleet or hail, the nails must get done. So, being the benevolent beauty blogger that I am, I recently gifted them both with this kit. And of the plethora of products I’ve given them this year, Zoya’s Color Lock System is the one they rave about most.

Stick Em Up: Miss Oops Show Stoppers

miss+oops+show+stoppers Stick Em Up: Miss Oops Show Stoppers

I always considered my small bust a curse, especially because the junk in my trunk makes me feel slightly unbalanced. But as I get older, I’m learning to love the girls. At 30, they still defy gravity, which means that (in many cases) bras are optional. But just because you can go bra-less doesn’t necessarily mean it’s to be done. In fact, sometimes it’s just plain inappropriate. You ladies know what I mean. Which is why, under strapless, backless and thin knits, I rely on my secret weapon: Miss Oops Show Stoppers.

These adhesive silicone nipple covers are the perfect weapon to prevent “perk out.” Show Stoppers are tapered at the edges making them invisible under garments. Plus they’re reusable up to 15 times.

Miss Oops Show Stoppers are summer must haves; and I don’t leave home without them when I travel to NYC for Fashion Week. Go get you some at missoops.com. You’re welcome…it’s my pleasure to keep you, ahem, abreast of undergarment innovations.

My Favorite Skin Care Products EVER: Amala

amala+skincare My Favorite Skin Care Products EVER: Amala

It’s really difficult to admit this, but I used to be very dismissive of natural and organic beauty products – particularly skin care. I used to believe that I needed to patronize products with harsh chemicals to get my problem skin to act like it had some sense. In fact, I would often joke that I didn’t care what damage a product did to my insides, as long as my outsides were looking good.

But I’ve done a complete 180 since discovering Amala, a luxurious collection of skin care and body care products with 100% natural formulas.

amala+purifying+moisturizer My Favorite Skin Care Products EVER: AmalaEarlier this month, I began testing Amala’s new Purify line – for Earth Day editorial consideration. Purify is a collection of products formulated for oily and acnegenic skin types. The products help control excess oil and shine, clear clogged pores, and prevent and heal blemishes and blackheads with treatments inspired by the healing plants and flowers of Eastern Asia.

So for three weeks, I’ve been religiously using the Purifying Gel Cleanser, Purifying Face Polish, Purifying Toner, and Purifying Moisturizer. And I have to say that besides feeling like I’m indulging in an extravagant spa treatment every time I use these citrus-scented products, my skin hasn’t looked this good in years.

My acne is now very mild, if not practically nonexistent. And my skin is so radiant that many of my friends have remarked about the drastic improvement in my complexion.

While Amala’s Purify price tag isn’t exactly recessionista-friendly (products range from $30 to $136), these products are, in my expert opinion, an absolute steal for the results you’ll see.

I am so enamored with the Purify line that I want to tell every person I meet about this brand. I would gladly be the company’s spokesperson and do commercials – because I feel so strongly about how the treatments have transformed my skin. Hell, I’d do it for free…in exchange for a lifetime supply of this stuff.

Amala is available at Barneys New York and amalabeauty.com.
