This time of year, people always run into the same gifting problem. There are a ton of co-workers, friends, cousins and kids’ teachers to thank. But to buy something for every one of them without breaking the bank means handing out presents that cost $10 or less. And those are never any good, right?
Well, right now $10 goes a long way at C. Wonder. They’ve got a “surprise sale” going on – with a bunch of really cute gifts marked down to $10 (or less). Here’s just a sampling of stuff you’ll want to snatch up:
Constellation Card Case, $9.97 (orig. $24)
Zodiac Candle, $9.97 (orig. $24) (more…)
I always considered myself a coffee girl. Tea was never my thing. The only time I would drink it is when I had a cold – for the therapeutic benefits. But since I tried DavidsTea, I’ve changed my tune. I’m actually turning into to quite the connoisseur.
A few weeks ago, DavidsTea invited me to the opening of their new store in the King of Prussia Mall, near my house. Between my crazy work schedule and two small children, I couldn’t attend the event – but they generously sent me The Winter Collection set and Nordic Mug, so I could still experience their product.
Well, I’m hooked. I went from not drinking tea at all to having a huge steaming cup every night before bedtime (Vanilla Chai and Eggnog are my personal faves). (more…)
I love gift giving. Even more than I enjoy gift receiving. It’s a fun game for me. I get a thrill out of finding the perfect present. My secret/trick is pretty simple – whenever possible, I purchase personalized gifts. People love seeing their name on things. I know I do. A thoughtful touch can turn a generic item into something the recipient will treasure for years.
Here are some of my favorite personalized gift picks for 2014:
Brevity’s Signature Necklace ($195) is the ultimate thoughtful gift. This takes nameplate necklaces to the next level – because it’s not a font or a script. It’s a signature. And creating the necklace is as simple as uploading an image file. The necklace could be in the recipient’s handwriting, your own or someone else’s. And it doesn’t have to be a name. It could be a word, place or phrase that has special meaning. The possibilities are endless. Okay, I take back what I said at the beginning of this post. I would love to give this as a gift, but what I really, really, really want is to receive one of my own on Christmas morning.
This time of year, there are always people who you want to thank without breaking the bank. It’s tough because most gifts that cost around $10 are absolute crap. Not the Anthropologie Limited Edition Golden Monogram Mug ($10), though. It’s well made, looks like you spent a lot more, and is a gift that your recipient will actually use…a lot. It’s perfect for your kids’ teachers, a co-worker, the person who delivers your mail…the list goes on and on.
The Icing Gold Monogram Initial Key Ring ($7.50) is another great stocking stuffer that looks more expensive than it is. Icing is that kind of cheap-y store in the mall where 12-year-olds shop…so I didn’t have high hopes when I purchased a few of these online as gifts. I figured if the quality was poor, I’d simply return them. But when they arrived on my porch a few days later, I was very impressed with the quality…and I know the people receiving them will be too. One of my all-time favorite things is opening my front door to find a package waiting for me on my doorstep. Most of the time, I know what the contents are (aka the end result of a late-night online shopping spree), but the best boxes are the ones with a surprise inside. Who’s with me here?
So when POPSUGAR asked if I’d like to receive their Must Have Box and write about it on Spoiled Pretty, I couldn’t respond fast enough.
POPSUGAR’s Must Have Box is filled with full-sized beauty, fashion, home, fitness and food products – all hand-selected by POPSUGAR’s editors. To sign up, simply choose your subscription plan and each month you’ll receive a POPSUGAR Must Have Box delivered directly to your door. (more…)
At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son’s daycare teachers. There are 12 of them – and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except that most gifts under $10 are utter crap and you’d rather give nothing at all than give someone a $10 junk present.
After almost settling on an uninspired gift (it was so blah, I can’t even remember what it was), Bath & Body Works had a sale on its 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22. The 3 Wick Candles are a good size (14.5 oz) and usually $20 each, so this was a steal. I snatched up 12 candles in holiday scents for $132—and saved $108! It’s true that I went over my $10 per gift limit (only by $1), but it was okay because I also scored free shipping—and the candles conveniently showed up on my doorstep in mint condition. So it all evened out. But most important, the teachers LOVED their candles and raved for months about how wonderful they smell and how long they last.
So why am I running my mouth and telling you this old story? Well, Bath & Body Works is having the same sale now and I wanted to share the great news.
Mother’s Day is coming up. It’s also prime time for baby and bridal showers right about now. Better yet, why not treat yourself? You deserve it. There are a lot of new spring/summer scents that sound amazing—like Gelato, Lemon Mint Leaf, Garden Bouquet, Peach Bellini, Lakeside, Caribbean Escape and Sicilian Orange—to name a few.
Get free shipping with any purchase of $50 or more. Enter promo code BURN50—but, hurry, because that deal is only good today. The 2 for $22, 3-Wick Candles deal ends on April 21, 2013. No coupon needed for that.
