Stila Mini Lip Glaze Collection: Holiday Beauty Gift Guide

John Keats once wrote, “Beauty is truth. Truth is beauty.” Emily Dickinson said, “Beauty is not caused. It is.” What’s my beauty philosophy?

“A woman can never have too many lip glosses. Impossible.”

Which is why I’m kicking off Spoiled Pretty’s 2009 Holiday Beauty Gift Guide with this purty pick. The Stila Mini Lip Glaze Collection is a set of eight bite sized glosses that give you non-stop, 1.21 gigawatts of shimmer and shine.

The collection includes four best-selling favorites and four limited edition shades to outfit your lips:

* Starfruit: neutral pink-coral with white pearl
* Kitten: nude pink champagne with golden pearl
* Cranberry: sheer brick red
* Blackberry: deep purple wine
* Plum Fairy: sheer plum with pink pearl
* Candy: sheer pink-coral with subtle rainbow shimmer
* Marmalade: sheer peach with pink and white pearl
* Pinkle Twinkle: sheer mid-tone pink with rainbow shimmer

Every shade in this set is a contender, but I’m crowning Pinkle Twinkle the champ. She K.O.’d me with her sparkly sass and cotton candy scent.

If you have a lip gloss lover in your life, you can’t go wrong by stuffing this in her stocking. Just make sure to pick up two sets, because there’s no way you’ll be able to resist their charm.

The Stila Mini Lip Glaze Collection ($25) is available at Sephora and stilacosmetics.com.

Rihanna's 20/20 Frosty Nude Lip Look

On Friday night, I was among the 8.2 million people who watched Rihanna’s 20/20 interview. But afterwards, while most people were thinking, “Wow…that Rihanna is so brave to publicly discuss such a horrifying personal tragedy” or “That jackass, Chris Brown, deserves whatever is coming to him” – I was thinking, “What products can I use to copy Rihanna’s icy nude lip look?”

So I did what any self-respecting beauty junkie would do. I broke out my lip gloss/lipstick stash and played makeup mad scientist/mixologist. I found that creating Rihanna’s 20/20 look is quite easy to do. All you need is a nude lipstick that is lighter than your complexion, and a silver gloss. Be sure to apply foundation to lips before trying this look, as the foundation will help cancel out any pink in your lips and let the lip color stand alone.

Here are some combos that I think would pass RiRi scrutiny:

1) Clinique Different Lipstick in Tenderheart + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
2) MAC Lipstick in Modesty + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
3) Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Nude Almond + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
4) Julie Hewett Lipstick in Biba + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
5) Victoria’s Secret Sheer Gloss Stick in Exposed + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
6) Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
7) + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
8) This is just to show what MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam looks like on its own

Not satisfied with Rihanna’s lippie recipe? Want to cop her cafe au lait nails too? Try OPI Barefoot in Barcelona.

Here’s what I say…they’re awesome! I got my greedy lil paws on some early samples of the Smoky ShadowBlasts early – and I luvre them. I don’t know why no one thought of this before. Hell, I should have thought of this…it’s ingenious. These chubby crayon-esque shadows are simple to use, and really deliver what they promise – a sexy smoky eye that looks like you had help. Prep the lid with a little primer before applying the color to help sustain the smokiness all day/night. Plus, the lighter shade of the Bronze Fire Smoky ShadowBlast doubles as a totally badass highlighter when applied to my cafe au lait cheekbones.

COVERGIRL ShineBlast Lip Gloss ($7.49) has a patented ShineSculpt™ applicator hugs the contours of lips and boasts a tapered tip for precise shaping and sculpting, while 16 shimmering shades deliver a brilliant, glossy finish and perfectly polished pout. The lip hugging applicator delivers more shine in a single swipe than the leading gloss, which results in 4x more noticeable shine vs bare lips.
