My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING
The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish.
Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING
Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle.
Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING
I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING
I don’t typically gravitate towards long-lasting beauty products. I can appreciate that cosmetics companies are trying to give consumers more bang for their buck. But I’m fickle. I change my mind all of the time, and I don’t like my makeup overstaying its welcome. This is usually the case. But I’ll make an exception for Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15.
As you can see from my amateur swatches below, this product puts the gloss in lipgloss. Check out how it reflects the light!
Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 promises 8 hours of shine – and while I would say 8 hours is a stretch, it’s not too far off. Yesterday, while riding the bus to work, I swiped some on my lips. My mouth was still super-shiny come mid-afternoon. My only criticism is that the taste leaves a bit to be desired. I’m the kind of girl who loves a gloss with some flava – and this one tastes kinda clinical. Sorta old school, if that makes any sense. I think it’s the sunscreen. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
I predict that these lipglosses will become my summer staples. Philadelphia humidity has a tendency to melt everything off of my face. So it’s nice to know these babies will stay put.

MAC Dazzleglass was slated for a May release…but as you can see from the MAC website, this train reached the station a lil early.
This collection of glittery glosses brings to mind the song “Razzle Dazzle,” from the musical Chicago.
Give ‘em the old razzle dazzle Razzle Dazzle ‘em Give ‘em an act with lots of flash in it And the reaction will be passionate Give ‘em the old hocus pocus Bead and feather ‘em How can they see with sequins in their eyes?
What if your hinges all are rusting? What if, in fact, you’re just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle ‘em And they’ll never catch wise!

It’s so gorgeous on…you don’t even know. I would have puckered up, rather than snap pics of my inner arm. But my upper lip is late for a meeting with the wax, if you know what I mean. And no one wants to see that.

Stila has come up with two new ways to wear their cult fave shadow, Kitten.
Silk Eye Shadow Wash is a portable water-based, liquid-to-powder shadow. The universally flattering pink champagne shade is pretty on the lid, and on the brow bone or inside corners of the eyes as a highlighter.
Stila’s new Silk Shimmer Gloss delivers the award-winning golden pink shine to the lips. Enriched with silk proteins and vitamins, this gloss is destined to become a classic in its own right.

“Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.” -Gwyneth Paltrow
If you let me loose in a makeup store, chances are I’m going to head for the lipsticks and glosses first. I gravitate towards pinks and neutrals, and don’t usually give reds the time of day. Oh how wrong I’ve been.
I was recently introduced to Besame’s Enchanting Lipstick in Red Velvet, and it has absolutely has won me over. This might sound odd, but I would compare it to a Jersey gown…while wearing it, you look ultra-feminine and sophisticated – but feel completely comfortable.
Red Velvet is a neutral red, so it’s wearable and compliments a variety of skin tones. The creamy, semi-matte finish ensures an elegant lip look that won’t feather. And I’m impressed by the unique double design – use the tip to line lips before filling in. Genius!
And how gorgeous is the gold bullet packaging? I imagine iconic beauties like Grace Kelly and Dorothy Dandridge carried something like this in their purses. Or perhaps a Bond girl might hide this in her décolletage.
Apply straight from the tube for a boldly pigmented pout. Or dab on with your finger for an effortless-looking stain. If you’re more of a gloss gal (I feel ya), swipe Besame’s Enriched Lip Glaze in Crystal on top…it’s non-sticky and smells faintly of coconut.
