Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works Cooling Gel Lotion Needs A New Name

A few weeks ago, I paid a visit to my local Bath & Body Works store. I was on the hunt for a tropical-smelling body wash that wouldn't break the bank, and B&BW seemed like a good place to search. When I entered the store, I was greeted my a really nice saleswoman who asked me what I was CONTINUE READING

Laura Mercier Master Class: Makeup Bag Must-Haves in Your 30s

kim kardashian troy jensen naughty Kim Kardashian: Isnt She Pretty In Pink?

I don’t think there’s a better advertisement for NARS Cosmetics than these photos of Kim Kardashian. I mean, I’ve got more products than I know what to do with, and I’m still going to Sephora tomorrow to pick up NARS Lipstick in Schiap and Lip Lacquer in Hot Wired.

nyc Bloggers Take Manhattan

Please forgive me, peeps, for I have no time to do what I do.

I’m in NYC for the annual Daily Makeover Beauty Bloggerati conference – and it’s been makeup, skincare and hair 24-7. So please forgive the lack of posts lately. But while I’m on here apologizing, I might as well tell you what I’ve been up to. I’m so tired, I’m about to pass out. But here are some quick highlights…

If you haven’t tasted the crispy fried chicken, basilicious mozzarella sticks or fruit embellished fro-yo dessert at Mad For Chicken (formerly BonChon), you have not lived. Thanks for the tip, Erika.

Daily Makeover’s site is about to get a makeover. Can’t be too specific, but their new content and tools are going to blow your beauty-loving mind.

Had delish lunch at the Estee Lauder offices and finally met all of the PR girls I talk to ten times a day. All of the brands (which include an impressive lineup: MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, La Mer, Tommy Hilfiger, Jo Malone, and more) are very interested in learning more about the Beauty Bloggerati and how they can better work with us.

Our Columbus Circle beauty crawl went a little like this:

kiehls+sunflower+hair+care Bloggers Take Manhattan*Fell a little more in luvre with Kiehl’s. Told everyone within earshot about my obsession with their Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion; I think I converted many of my fellow bloggers into fans. Then we were all introduced to Kiehl’s new Sunflower Oil hair products; the shampoo smells yummy fantastic – like fresh apricot. We also got the skinny on the new Rare Earth line, created for acne-prone and greasy gals like yours truly. They sent me home with samples, so look for reviews soon.

*Lancome is the freaking bomb. We were greeted with champagne, heavenly cupcakes and veritable wonderland of makeup. I had an opportunity to play around with their fall 2009 collection and chat up celebrity makeup artist, Andrew Sotomayor…who has the BEST SKIN EVER. No joke. You could inspect his face with a high powered microscope and not find one pore. And the kind folks at Lancome sent us all home with a bag of goodies, including the Oscillation Powerbooster mascara primer and new Hypnose Drama mascara – which, together, are TO DIE!

*L’Occitane has this amazing anti-aging skincare product, called Divine Cream, that will hit shelves September 16th. I smoothed some on my hand and the texture was truly divine. L’Occitane don’t lie.

*I wish Philadelphia had a Space NK store. Really, every city should have at least one. It smelled so damn good inside and they had some mellow Marvin Gaye on the stereo…I just didn’t want to leave. What I love about Space NK is the diverse range of brand offerings. I consider myself a beauty savant, and there were products and lines that I’ve never heard of. Can you even?

*If there’s a store where I want one of everything, it’s Fresh. I seriously don’t think you can go wrong with anything they sell. My new fave Fresh products are the Brown Sugar Body Scrub and Body Cream. It’s like a 1-2 punch to your flaky epidermis. Exfoliate with the scrub and then moisturize with the cream and you’ll swear that you got bumped to the top of the skin transplant list. The transformation is unbelievable!

Attended the What Not To Wear premiere party at the Ted Gibson Salon, to celebrate Ted’s new gig as the show’s resident hair guru. Briefly chatted up Jason Backe and congratulated him on the oodles of magazines he’s been quoted in these last few months. I love me some Ted and Jason…dolls, the both of them. They deserve all of the success coming their way.

Me, Amber and Marta at Revlon dinner

Dinner with Revlon at Almond was ab fab. The steak frites I ordered was un(freaking)real. Plus, we got up close and personal with some of their newest products. In the middle of my meal, I applied their Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick…and it still looked perfect when I returned to my room at the ACE Hotel 2 hours later.

Okay, losing consciousness now. I’ll check in again as soon as I can. You might have to wait a lil longer than a New York minute…but it will be worth it.

NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Posted on by daneen in Eye Shadow, Lipstick, Nail Polish | Leave a comment

nars+fall+2009 NARS Fall 2009 CollectionEvery season, NARS achieves the impossible…time and time again, they manage to craft collections in which every single product is a must have. Their newest collection is no exception…

Fall’s runways were dominated by two words: bold and feminine. Strong shouldered and form-hugging silhouettes, extreme heels and provocative thigh-high boots, and a color palette of classic hues turned up a notch to Technicolor volumes. These trends also illustrate the NARS Fall 2009 collection. “For this collection, I wanted to create something fragile and strong, and seductive but not aggressive,” said François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics.

As inspiration for his artistic vision, Nars referenced both the coquettish innocence of Lolita, and the sophisticated sensuality of Catherine Deneuve in Belle du Jour to conjure a beauty formula that is “very sexy, but at the same time ultra-elegant.” The combination of strength and refinement has become a hallmark of NARS, and is particularly fitting this season as the brand
celebrates its 15th anniversary.

The collection includes:

NARS+Fast+Ride+Lipstick+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Fast Ride Lipstick, $24
This seemingly dark purple may intimidate, but swipe it across the lips and its true shade is revealed: a sheer mulberry. A color that falls somewhere between an intense plum wine stain, and a moody, deep violet.

NARS+Tokaido+Express+Nail+Polish+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Tokaido Express Nail Polish, $16
This new hue is a cult classic in the making. Named after Japan’s most heavily frequented high-speed rail route, this lacquer is an opulent blackened amethyst doused with ultra-fine gold dust particles.

NARS+Silk+Road+Duo+Eyeshadow+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Silk Road Duo Eyeshadow, $32
This new shade mirrors the hues from traditional damask fabrics. Classic meets edgy in this new duo — an icy pink is paired with a warm rose gold with golden flecks.

NARS+Brumes+Duo+Eyeshadow+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Brumes Duo Eyeshadow, $32
These new hues perfectly capture the moody shades of a cool twilight sky. Brumes pairs a velvety matte charcoal with a sparkling, blue state for a smoky eye that is both confident and serene.

NARS+Indian+Summer+Duo+Eyeshadow+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Indian Summer Duo Eyeshadow, $32
A typical Indian summer comes as a surprise, balmy sunshine meets brisk fall. Swipe the summery, frosted champagne shimmer up to the brow, and line the upper lid with the autumnal deep, matte mustard for a striking look, appropriate for every season.

NARS+Mekong+Single+Eyeshadow+ +Low+Resolution NARS Fall 2009 Collection

Mekong Single Eyeshadow, $22
This is the perfect addition to the NARS woman’s adventurous palette. The intense, blackened espresso hue scattered with rose gold is a study in contrasts. Applied liberty across the lid it exudes a sexy attitude, or applied lightly, a simple, fashion-forward sophistication.

The Fall 2009 collection is now available for purchase online.

I’ve Fallen Hard For Urban Decay’s Fall 2009 Collection

urban+decay+fall+2009 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Though summer has just begun, fall makeup collections are popping up left and right. Not to be outdone, Urban Decay (one of my all-time favorite brands) just dropped 30+ products like they’re hot. And they are. Take one look at the this virtual look book and try not to buy. I dare you. Makeup junkies, just try to keep those purse strings tight and see how that works out for you.

The Urban Decay Fall 2009 Collection includes:

ud2 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Ink For Eyes Cream Eyeliner: It’s everything you want in a cream eyeliner! More precise than a pencil, more forgiving than a liquid, this super-smooth formula offers more control, play time, and buildable coverage than your average liner. Create razor-sharp lines or smoky bedroom eyes… the creamy formula and double-ended applicator make it easy. Try the angled liner brush for precise details, or use the smudger for blending and drama. Available in Binge (midnight blue), Demolition (brown), Empire (eggplant), Loaded (deep green), Pyrotechnics (iridescent glitter, clear base), and Zero (black).

ud3 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Complexion Primer Potion – Pore Perfecting: Smooth on a little Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion before foundation (or alone!) to totally minimize the look of pores and fine lines. The velvety, paraben-free formula flashes down to a soft-matte finish, without the greasy, heavy feel sometimes associated with foundation primers. The result? Flawless skin with an airbrushed look and feel. Foundation applies smoothly, evenly, and won’t fade away. Ideal for oilier skin, but dry complexions who want pore perfection will love it, too.

Complexion Primer Potion – Brightening: Dull skin? Fine lines? Disappearing foundation? Try Brightening Complexion Primer Potion under foundation (or alone!) for beautifully moisturized skin that looks brighter and feels tighter. This lightweight, oil-free, paraben-free formula includes buzz-worthy ingredient Matrixyl 3000, celebrated for its ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Hyaluronic Filling Spheres also minimize the look of fine lines while leaving skin beautifully moisturized. Your skin will look youthful, lifted and firm, and your foundation will apply smoothly, evenly, and last longer!

ud4 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Eyelash Primer Potion: Wave this magic wand before your favorite mascara for lashes that appear thicker, longer and stronger…right before your very eyes. Tiny fibers band together, cling to every lash, and construct towers of Babel… reaching for heavenly lashes. Just apply Eyelash Primer Potion, then apply your favorite mascara as usual. Your lashes will look fake, but the magic is real.

ud6 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Lip Primer Potion: This invisible primer lays a silky foundation for your favorite lipstick or gloss. Color is truer, applies smoother, lasts longer, and will not fade or feather. The easy-glide formula feels velvety-soft, without the drying feeling often associated with long-lasting lip color. The formula includes SPF 15 (yay!) and moisturizing Vitamins A, C and E for a primer that protects and perfects.

ud5 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Deluxe Eyeshadow: Created with maximum staying power, Deluxe Eyeshadows offer incredibly long-lasting wear that won’t fade (especially when paired with Urban Decay’s miraculous Eyeshadow Primer Potion). Available in three new shades: Freakshow (deep purple w/red sheen), Frigid (deep purple w/blue sheen) and Ruthless (pale sandy taupe shimmer).

ud8 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Lipsticks: The luxuriously creamy formula nourishes and protects lips with Vitamins A, C, and E. Hyaluronic Spheres are added to stimulate cellular function, prevent dehydration, and fill-in lines and wrinkles—now, how many Lipsticks can do that?! The teardrop-shape bullet (etched with an Urban Decay logo) is infused with a decadent crème caramel scent and flavor. Yum. Available in three new shades: Confession (deep, semi-sheer burgundy), Naked (creamy pink-nude) and Oil Slick (glossy black w/silver microsparkle).

ud7 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils: Just like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, these Lip Pencils are guaranteed to last, and also contain Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, and Cottonseed Oil to nourish the skin and improve the smoothness of application. They’re the perfect complement to Urban Decay Lipsticks, Stains, and Glosses. Available in two new shades: Paranoid (dark pinky nude) and Wallflower (medium nude).

ud9 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Surreal Skin Cream-to-Powder Foundation: This ultra-lightweight formula transforms from a decadent cream to a micro-fine powder upon contact with skin. The light-as-air texture glides on effortlessly and feels as natural as your own skin. (No heavy, greasy, or powdery makeup texture.) Lighter than liquid, the buildable formula gives you all the coverage you desire, without the pore-clogging effects of heavier foundations – you can even wear it as a concealer. Available in eight shades.

ud10 Ive Fallen Hard For Urban Decays Fall 2009 Collection

Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup: Use a little for sheer coverage or keep puffing for heavier coverage. Titanium dioxide, a major ingredient, provides formulation color and great coverage. The handy on/off switch means you can toss it in your purse – no spills. Available in four new shades.

I’m lusting after this entire collection, and I think the feelings are mutual because every single product is calling my name…especially, the Ink For Eyes Cream Eyeliner. Which ones have you at hola?
