While I’m prone to eczema during the winter months, the rest of the year I’m luckily flare-up free. But this past summer, my skin was an irritated itchy mess – so I knew something not good was up and I’d be wise to see a dermatologist. The doctor’s orders were short and sweet.
#1) Take warm (not hot) baths and showers.
Okay…I can do that.
#2) Only use fragrance-free body products.
That’s easy too. Um…wait…hold up. What?!?!?
Whish, one of my favorite bath and body brands, sent me these mini tubes of their new Soda Fountain Collection to try. And let me tell you – these body butters (which I’ve been using as hand lotion) smell so yummy, I’ve unconsciously morphed into Mary Katherine Gallagher. As I type this, I’ve probably stopped two or three times to sniff my hands.
The collection features vintage soda fountain flavors (Black Cherry, Ginger Melon, Key Lime and Orange Cream) and is available in the form of Whish’s bubbly Bath & Body Gel and super-hydrating Body Butter.
The entire collection is available for purchase on the Whish website, but a limited selection of super-sized bottles is available as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives. (more…)
I have eczema. Not all year round. Just December through March. Sometimes, it’s just a minor annoyance. Other days, I’m covered with dry patches and the itchiness is almost too much to endure.
For the past few years, I’ve been eczema-free. So I thought that maybe I’d kicked the condition…that is, until it returned with a vengeance last month. No joke – in less than a week, two tiny bumps on my upper arm morphed into a scaly, raw, inflamed rash that covered the right side of my torso, hip and upper thigh. And there’s no cure. Can you believe that BS? We can land a space probe on a moving comet, but can’t figure out a way to prevent me from scratching my own skin off? Anyway, I digress… (more…)
If you haven’t yet tried any of Laura Mercier’s bath and body collections, go to your closest Laura Mercier counter immediately! You will not be disappointed and every penny spent will be worth it. For a couple of weeks, I have been using the new Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture. I admit it – at first, I was skeptical of the “gel” in the name, and I couldn’t stop thinking about that sticky feeling you feel from using aloe – but I couldn’t have been more wrong about that. It’s part gel and part cream, so it actually feels much lighter than a cream – which is perfect for the heat of the summer. It glides on with ease and quickly absorbs into your skin. The result is extremely soft skin for hours – seriously, I love a great moisturizer that doesn’t require constant reapplication. (more…)
