Saturday was my birthday, so I made time to treat myself to an at-home manicure, which I often don’t have the time to do. But immediately after pulling out my arsenal of polishes and other accouterments, my 2-year-old starts whining, making sad faces and pointing to her own nails. So I had no choice but to give her a quick mani or else there would be no peace during my own. (more…)
I don’t know about you, but one of my top favorite things is getting packages in the mail. And if those packages are filled with stylish surprises, even better. That’s why I love the concept behind POPSUGAR’s Must Have Box.
Every month, a carefully curated box of goodies arrives on your doorstep. For $39.99, you get a collection of “how did I live without these?” products valued at over $100 (there’s also a Must Have Mini Box, and a Limited Edition Box available select times during the year). I have discovered so many new favorite brands and products thanks to the POPSUGAR. It’s like the POPSUGAR editors secretly read your mind and send you things you didn’t know you wanted – but now you can’t live without. Needless to say, it’s definitely a subscription service I’d personally recommend.
POPSUGAR sent me the June 2016 box to try – and inside were the following summertime must haves:
- Hat Attack Neutral Diamonds-Printed Sarong
- Sisters of Los Angeles “Cheers” Gold Bottle Opener
- Wild and Wolf Ridley’s Games Room “Who Am I?” Quiz
- NCLA Born on the 4th Nail Lacquer
- Knock Knock Are You Ready (For Your Close-Up?) Compact
- Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes
- Pressels Sriracha
My favorite items from the July 2016 box are the sarong (so versatile), deodorant wipes (refreshing post-gym or on the go…I plan to try the other scents) and the NCLA nail lacquer (I’m planning to do a festive mani with this polish tonight).

Zoya Kitridge is a classic summer bubblegum pink cream that really pops against a tan. While it’s opacity was impressive, I’ll admit that I still needed 3 thin coats to achieve this look. The photo below was taken after a few days of wear and tear. This was an at-home manicure, so please excuse my jacked-up cuticles.
My 2-year-old was so taken with the color that she insisted I paint a few of her nails…which I did without hesitation because of Zoya’s toxin-free formula. I also got quite a few compliments on my mani at work and while out-and-about. Pretty in pink, indeed.
Behold…I have finally discovered my perfect nude nail polish: Nails Inc. Montpelier Walk NailKale Polish. I recognize that it cost double what many people would typically spend on a bottle of nail polish, but hear me out.
NailKale polish isn’t just color for your nails; it’s also a treatment. The formula is supercharged with kale extract, known for its high levels of Vitamins A, C and K which stimulate keratin production while hydrating and nourishing the nails.
