Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

Hi Mario!

What is your favorite luminizer? And how can I luminize my face?

Love, April

shimmery+cheekbones Makeup Mondays With Mario: How To "Luminize" Your FaceHey April,

I have a few favorites when it comes to luminizer. LORAC makes a really good one that comes in two shades. A pearly color for lighter skin and a golden/bronze shade for darker tones. Sometimes I will mix a bit of both together to create my own shade. This luminizer is oil-free and great for sensitive skin. You can luminize your face by mixing some of your foundation and/or moisturizer with the luminizer. I prefer to apply it on the cheekbones with my finger and blend with a damp sponge. Also use a bit on the bridge of your nose and center of lips. Try to not use powder directly on top of the luminizer and instead only on your t-zone. If you really want your face blinged-out, brush some shimmer powder over the liquid luminizer only on cheekbones and only at night.

Hey Mario,

I love all your makeup looks and I experiment everyday to recreate your genius techniques to have flawless makeup. When trying to copy your “Get The Face,” I usually buy all the products that you suggest, but now I have nowhere to put all of my makeup. Where and how do you organize all you makeup especially when moving from one client to the next within the same day? -Jen

Makeup Mondays With Mario: How Mario Organizes His MakeupHi Jen,

This is a very interesting question. Keeping my makeup organized is almost a full time job, but so important to me. In my kit, I have several bags where I separate my makeup. I like to keep creams together in one bag and all powders in another. Eyeshadow palettes also separate, then body makeup, brushes, pencils, etc. At home, I have a big closet with floor to ceiling shelving where I keep my makeup organized in clear boxes so that I can go in and put things away and take things out easily. Every makeup artist has their own way of organizing and packing. I think it’s best to play around with ideas and see what works best for you.

Mario

Hi Mario!

What is the best concealer and how should it be applied for the best coverage? -Liz icon smile Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye Concealer

undereye+concealer Makeup Mondays With Mario: Best Under Eye ConcealerLiz,

The best concealer really depends on the skin or area you want to cover up. If I had to choose one right now, I’d say the Lift Concealer by Make Up For Ever. Apply some with a brush to undereyes, blend with a damp sponge and set with translucent powder using the same damp sponge. Brush away that excess powder and voila – you’ve got flawless, creaseless undereyes!

Beautyblender: Holiday Beauty Gift Guide

beautyblender+hot+pink+holiday Beautyblender: Holiday Beauty Gift Guide

Let me speak frankly. If you’re applying your foundation with anything but the Beautyblender sponge, you’re doing it wrong. Look…I don’t mean to put you on blast, but I’m here to give it to you straight. And when I tell you that Beautyblender is, hands down, the best foundation applicator, I speak the truth.

The point of foundation is to fool the eye of the beholder into thinking you were blessed with a flawless complexion. But if you’re applying it incorrectly, or with inferior tools, you just look like you’re wearing a makeup mask. And who wants that? Nobody, that’s who. The difference between foundation that looks like foundation and foundation that looks like skin is Beautyblender.

Since I was introduced to Beautyblender in 2007, we have been in a monogamous relationship. It is the only tool I use to apply my foundation. Invented by Hollywood makeup artists, this sponge leaves you with a professional finish. Applying makeup with fingers or sharp-edged triangular sponges can waste makeup and can leave visible streaks. Beautyblender’s elliptical shape makes allows you to access hard-to-reach areas with ease. Its suede-like texture repels product, so your foundation actually ends up on your face – rather than absorbed by the sponge. And its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your makeup dazzling and undetectable.

I even use it to apply my concealer and cream blushes. And if you have problem skin, I can’t recommend anything better for magically disguising blemishes and hyperpigmentation. Beautyblender is reusable (perfect for those green gals), latex-free, non-allergenic, and odor free…and makes a great holiday gift.

Give your beauty-loving BFF the gift of perfect skin with the Hot Pink Holiday Kit, which includes Beautyblender and 3 oz Blendercleanser in an organza drawstring carry pouch….tagged for gift giving!

You know who is also a fan of Beautyblender? My pal, and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mario Dedivanovic. Watch the Beautyblender in action, as Mario makes up the beautiful face of his muse, Kim Kardashian.

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Slimming A Wide Nose

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario!

Do you have makeup tips for making the nose look more narrow or smaller? Thank you! -Athena

nose+makeup Makeup Mondays With Mario: Slimming A Wide NoseAthena,

Making the nose look more narrow or smaller can be challenging at first and it’s very easy to overdo it. I remember back when I first tried to contour a model’s nose on a shoot, the photographer said “What is that muddy stuff on her nose?” LOL…I overdid it!

Here are a couple of tricks/tips I recommend:

Make sure the nose has a base on it and set it with some loose powder. Using a soft bristled brush (eye shadow/blending brush), dip a bit into a matte bronzer or blush that’s a few shades deeper then your skin. Tap off the excess powder and, starting at the inside corner of the brow, softly shade going down along the sides of the nose. Again, it’s very important that you start soft. It should look like a natural shadow and not an eyeshadow. Using a lighter shade either shimmer or matte, apply on the bridge of the nose. Blend with a clean brush if there are any lines.

Mario
