Mario,

I have a foundation that I love, but it seems to get on everything! I work in an office and tend to pass around papers that have brown smudges on them whenever I wear that foundation. Is there anything I can do to keep the foundation on my face and not on everything else? -Khalia
woman+powder+puff Makeup Mondays With Mario: Keeping Foundation On Your FaceKhalia,

I can totally sympathize with you, as someone that constantly gets makeup “spots” on just about everything. Here’s how to keep your foundation on your face and off the paper work:

Try using a oil free moisturizer if you aren’t already. Makeup that smears off the skin easily probably isn’t being set well. With a velour powder puff, set your makeup by pressing translucent loose powder all over face after foundation. If this doesn’t help, you can try a makeup sealer. They come in spray bottles and help keep everything in place. Lastly and most important – try to stop touching your face! If you didn’t touch your face, your hands wouldn’t get makeup on them. It’s a hard habit to break, but not impossible.

Hope this helps you out. Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!xo,

Hello Mario,

I love your work and wanted to ask you how to create the perfect cat eye with liquid eyeliner since I have shaky hands it has been impossible for me!! Lots of love!

-Mariel

sephora+cat+eye Makeup Mondays With Mario: Cat Eye TutorialMariel,

Creating a great cat eye with liquid liner can be challenging but with a little practice, I’m certain you can perfect it!

Here’s how you should do it. Look into a mirror and tilt your head up a bit so that the lashline (where liner will go) isn’t touching the crease of the eye. Gently stretch your eye outward to prevent blinking. Start lining the outer corner first, going towards the inner corner. Make sure that the line gets thinner towards the inner corners. Now go back to the outter corner and wing the liner out and up a bit for the cat eye effect. If you mess up, wipe the corners with a Q-tip and try again. Good luck, gorgeous!

xo,
Mario

For a precise and very defined crease, Mario suggests using Sephora’s Nano Eyeliner to draw a line right on or under the crease. With a small brush, blend the line going up and/or out. Keep it in place with a touch of translucent powder.

Hi Mario,

I have no cheekbones…like, at all. How do I create the illusion of them with makeup? If this helps, I have a long face, moderate/small facial features and red undertones w/ a medium-brown complexion. Thanks!

-Melonie

cheekbones Makeup Mondays With Mario: Chiseled CheekbonesHi Melonie,

Thanks for visiting!

To create the illusion of cheekbones, you will need a few products. This is one of my favorite “steps” in a makeup application because it looks great on almost every face. Start out using a matte bronzer a few shades darker than your skin. Apply the bronzer with a brush onto the hollows of your cheeks blending towards the center of the ear. Sweep a highlighter (a golden sheer, shimmery shade) right above the bronzer or on top of the cheekbone. The area with the highlight will pop out and the hollows will appear deeper, creating the illusion of cheekbones. To prevent a ruddy or messy look on the skin, be sure to powder first.

Mario

So without further ado…do your thang, Mario!

Hi Mario,

I have a question and would like some advice on my make-up. OK… I naturally have dark circles around my eyes and I love the smokey eye look. However whenever I’ve tried it, it makes my circles appear darker. Is there something I can do about it so that I can achieve the look that I’m wanting or is that something I can’t accomplish because of my imperfections? -LaJuan

sephora+smoky+eye Makeup Mondays With Mario: Dark Circles & Smoky EyesDear LaJuan,

It seems to me that the problem you’re having has to do with covering up the dark circles around your eyes, or it could the technique you’re using when you do the eye makeup. If done correctly, a smokey eye should not make your “circles” appear darker. Here’s what you should do. Start out by applying an eye shadow base or primer to the lid. You can also use your concealer or foundation for this (a shade or two lighter then your skin would be best). Follow with some loose powder to set the base. Now you can go ahead and give yourself a smokey eye which ever way that you prefer. After the lids are done, you now want to clean the under eye area with a makeup wipe to get rid of all the eyeshadow that most likely fell. That could be why it looks more dark to you. Once the under eye area is clean, apply your concealer, blend with a sponge and finish by setting it with a translucent loose powder. This will also prevent the liner along the lower lash line from smudging. icon wink Makeup Mondays With Mario: Dark Circles & Smoky Eyes

khloe+kardashian+ok+magazine+wedding+cover How To Get Khloe Kardashians Bridal Glow

My pal and celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic shared the secrets to Khloe Kardashian’s beautiful bridal glow with OK! Magazine.

khloe+kardashian+mario+dedivanovic+wedding+makeup How To Get Khloe Kardashians Bridal GlowAll brides are radiant, but Kardashian makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic gave Khloe that special something extra. “He wanted her youthful look to shine through and kept her makeup natural and dewy,” says Kim, OK!’s contributing beauty editor. Mario gave Khloe subtle, smoky eyes using copper and bronze hues. (He blended the golden shade from NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Méditerranée with Antiqued Eye Shadow by MAC) “He coated Khloe’s lashes with Lancome Hypnose mascara – Khloe’s fave!” Kim adds, “And to get her luminous skin, Mario applied blush in Orgasm by NARS and Bronze Matte bronzer by Dior. Finally, Mario applied Revlon Creme Gloss in Pink Cami to give Khloe’s lips a natural color and shine.” And Khloe’s tumbling waves? “Our hairstylist Frankie Payne blew out her hair using Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray,” Kim tells OK!. “He waved her hair in small sections using a double-barrel curling iron, but kept the texture piecy and tousled. Then to finish the look, he applied a dab of T3 Boost by Orlando Pita.”
