Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

Get ready for the big O – Lancome Oscillation

Posted on by daneen in Lashes, Mascara | Leave a comment

Lancome Oscillation Get ready for the big O Lancome OscillationGet ready for the big Ô! Ôscillation, Lancôme’s vibrating power mascara, launches nationwide today, Wednesday, October 22nd.

The mascara provides a 360-degree coat around each and every lash, and the brush vibrates at no fewer than 7,000 vibrations per minute for “perfect formula application” that extends, curls, shapes and thickens lashes. The wand is battery-powered and turns on a 3-centimeter motor.

This is one of the most anticipated mascaras ever and for a good reason.

The key to great results with Ôscillation is a certain application technique:
* Apply in slow, straight and steady strokes.
* Don’t zig-zag and don’t wiggle!
* Don’t overpump the wand. There’s plenty of product on there for multiple coats.
* If at first you don’t succeed…don’t give up! Ôscillation takes a few tries to get the hang of it.
* Ôscillation is great for the lower lashes, so don’t forget to apply there.

Once you get your application method down, there are a few tricks you can try:
* Apply and then go back and re-apply to the tips alone. You can get amazing length.
* Put the wand right at the base of the lashes, activate the vibrating action and hold in place for a few seconds. Then slowly sweep to the tips of the lashes. It gives you beautiful thickness at the base and lots of oomph.

Ôscillation is available at all Lancôme counters and boutiques and lancome-usa.com.

Big Props To Rimmel London

Rimmel+London+Mascaras Big Props To Rimmel London
Big props to Rimmel London for creating two ab fab mascaras for under $8, and to my BFF Kristen for bringing this brand into my lifestyle.

A few weeks ago, Kristen called me to wax poetic about the fluttertastic virtues of Glam’Eyes Mascara. Like she promised, it delivered high octane lashes like you wouldn’t believe. This mascara ain’t for the faint of heart, and you wallflowers best save this tube for a night out. It gives the eye a sexy, dramatic look that is sure to set tongues wagging.

But I was most impressed by my impulse buy. CVS was offering a buy one, get one half off promotion…so I also tossed Lash Maxxx Mascara into my basket. This mascara magically multiplies my sparse lashes and gives them a glossy black coat, with zero clumps. The wand takes a little getting used to, as it applies the product with a comb comprised of ultra-fine bristles. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll marvel at how believably lush your lashes look. The fringe is so natural, you’ll forget that you aren’t genetically blessed.

Run your ass out and buy both of these mascaras – for the price of one department store tube!

Warm and Fuzzy Eyeshadow: Lise Watier Cachemires Bleu Quartet

Les+Cachemires+logo+RGB Warm and Fuzzy Eyeshadow: Lise Watier Cachemires Bleu Quartet
How many of you own an eye shadow quad with no clue about where and how to apply the colors? I can relate…I’m a beauty junkie, not a makeup artist. Which is why I am such a big fan of Lise Watier’s eye shadow palettes. Included with the kits are directions on how to achieve different looks, complete with color-coded diagrams.

This summer, I was all about the Eye Quartet in Mer. And now that the lazy days of summer have come to an end, I’m feeling kinda blue. In a good way.

Quatuors+Cachemires Warm and Fuzzy Eyeshadow: Lise Watier Cachemires Bleu QuartetFor fall, Lise Watier presents two seasonal colour quartets in soft, soothing shades – my favorite being Cachemires Bleu. This palette of (composed of a grey taupe, a sky blue, an anthracite blue and a luminous pale pink) is both subtle and refined, allowing infinite mix-and match possibilities. And it comes nestled in a pretty knitted pouch, accented with sequins!

MAC Ungaro

UNGARO COL MAC UngaroLive from backstage at the Fall 2008 Collections, It-Boy designer, Esteban Cortazar, and MAC have come together to create a special colour collection as dreamy, refined, and, well, Parisienne as anything this side of the Avenue Georges V, exclusively ours! A limited edition for lips, cheeks, eyes…chez Ungaro, only for MAC.

“Our association with Ungaro is really exciting as we’ve supported Esteban for many years. He’s reflective of an attitude and movement for venerable fashion houses to reinvent their brands by employing new emerging talent, something that’s a core value of MAC,” explains Creative Director, James Gager.

The collaboration also represents the many personalities and aesthetics to which MAC makeup appeals. “MAC’s a high/low fashion brand,” continues Gager. “We follow equally couture and street culture, a sense of yin and yang is inherent to the brand and our customers – heavy-duty dramatic makeup alongside that which is girly, fresh and light. Following from our dramatic and outrageous collaboration with McQueen last year, we felt that Ungaro represented another side of MAC’s personality.”

Black Magic: Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara

chanel+exceptionnel+mascara Black Magic: Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara
Uh-oh, LashBlast…watch your back. Chanel is trying to steal me away from you.

chanel+ad Black Magic: Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl MascaraI’m on the Allure Experts Panel (and you can be, too). Membership has its privileges, because, every now and again, they send me samples of exciting new beauty products. This time, Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara showed up on my doorstep. And after using it, I was so in awe that I wanted to find the individuals responsible for bringing this mascara into my world – the folks at Allure…the geniuses at Chanel…the US Postal Service – and give them a big fat smooch.

Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara delivers dramatic volume, voluptuous curves and clump-free, smudge-proof separation. The mascara doesn’t market itself as possessing lengthening aptitude. So when Exceptionnel took my lashes up, up and away…well, I was blown away. It was seriously like, ‘Go Go Gadget Lashes!’

The mascara owes its off-the-charts performance to the innovative, six-sided wand. The SCULPTVOLUME brush consists of three rows of combs that curl and groom lashes from root to tip, while three rows of brushes pump up the volume. To apply, place the wand at the base of the lash and gently rotate up and outward. The technique takes no time to master, and you’re left with the most perfectly lush (and lengthened) lashes – that last all day.

Don’t ask why I’m slightly orange. I’m a beauty blogger…not a photographer.

Exceptionnel de Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara is available in four shades: Smoky Noir, Smoky Brun, Smoky Marine and Smoky Violine. One tube will set you back, $28 but it’s worth every penny. Besides…every woman needs a little Chanel in her life.

Get yours today at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Chanel.com.
