Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

Fall+beauty+trends Fall Beauty Trends on the NBC 10! Show Plus a Giveaway!

As you probably know, today is the official kickoff of New York Fashion Week, Spring 2010. In fact, I’ll be traveling to NYC on Saturday to attend Fashion Week events and report from backstage. But before we move forward, let’s take a look back to Fashion Week, Fall 2009. Last spring, I went behind the scenes at some of the hottest shows – and noticed some emerging trends.

Last week, I appeared on the NBC 10! Show to talk about five of the fiercest beauty trends for fall – and introduce viewers to must-have products to help them nail the looks.

Watch and learn…

For more of my NBC 10! Show appearances, click here!

In honor of my latest TV appearance, I’m giving away a selection of the products featured in the segment!!! One lucky winner will receive:

Revlon Brow Specialist Kit: The set includes three brow stencils in varying degrees of arch to fit every shape, tweezers, a universally flattering brow pencil, and brow gel – all in a sleek carrying case.

Urban Decay Ink For Eyes Liner (all six shades!): More precise than a pencil and more forgiving than a liquid, this super-smooth formula offers more control, and buildable coverage than your average liner. The angled liner brush creates a razor sharp line, and the formula lasts all day (or night). Available in six gorgeous colors: Binge (midnight blue), Demolition (brown), Empire (eggplant), Loaded (deep green), Pyrotechnics (iridescent glitter with clear base), and Zero (black).

Goody Resort Glamour Kingston Bobby Slides: These are the next generation of bobby pins. They are some of the most darling bobby pins I’ve ever seen, and come in a selection of shades sure to match your personality, hair color and/or ensemble.

OPI Matte Collection (all six shades!): OPI recently released six of their best-selling shades in non-glossy formulation. The collection includes: Alpine Snow(a fresh crisp white), Gargantuan Green Grape (green kissed by the summer sun), La Paz-itively Hot (a hot pink perfect for when you’re Bo-livia la vida loca), Lincoln Park After Dark (where midnight meets purple), Russian Navy (wait until you see this deep-sea indigo!) and You Don’t Know Jacques! (if you don’t know how trendy this taupe is!).

To enter the giveaway, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read “Fall Trends Giveaway.” The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Thursday, September 17th. One winner will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Friday, September 18th, I’ll announce the winner’s name. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. residents.

chanel+jade+nail+polish+collection Chanel Introduces Jade Nail Collection

Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, created the Jade Nail Collection with two limited edition nail enamels in sure-to-be-coveted colors “Jade” and “Jade Rose” for the Ready-to-Wear Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 runway show.

chanel+jade+nail+polish Chanel Introduces Jade Nail CollectionThese mineral-inspired shades transform the nails into genuine gems and recall the jade jewelry and the pink knit and pistachio tweed of the fashion collection.

“For the nails, Karl wanted a green shade to evoke the jade notes of the collection. I worked with our laboratories to offer him a monochromatic palette of 10 green shades. We chose the color that most resembled the green tweed skirt suit from the collection,” explains Peter Philips.

The Chanel Jade Nail Collection debuts on September 10th at the Chanel Soho Boutique in New York City in celebration of Vogue’s Fashion Night Out. Starting the 11th of September, The Jade Nail Collection will be sold for limited time exclusively at www.chanel.com, Chanel Makeup Studios and Chanel boutiques for $25.

Barielle Fall 2009: Nails Get All Lacquered Up

For fall 2009, Shades by Barielle and celebrity manicurist Elle extended a hand to guest collaborator (and Spoiled Pretty pal) Michelle Mismas, founder of the top nail beauty blog, All Lacquered Up.

barielle+falling+star+all+lacquered+up+nail+polish+collection Barielle Fall 2009: Nails Get All Lacquered UpThe new collection – aptly named All Lacquered Up – takes trend-making to a new level, offering unexpected color combinations, glitter particle and pearl shimmer effects, and a healthy 3-free formulation.

Black polish gets injected with a shot of colorful shimmer, with Lava Rock - a black and red pearl swirl, and Blackened Bleu - a black polish with sapphire sparkle. Blue and green polishes come in brand new hues, with Falling Star (left) – a marine blue with gold glitter particles, and Polished Princess – a safari green with copper shimmer. Drop-dead reds include Glammed Out Garnet – a ruby-on-ruby sparkle, and Pin Up – a tomato red shimmer. Grey gets glam, with Out-Grey-Geous – a silver shimmer, U-Concrete-Me – a steely gray, Slate of Affairs – a worn denim, Putt-E-On-Me – a classic clay. The ultimate coffee indulgence is Make it a Latte – a chocolate cream with golden highlights. Purple gets even prettier with Get Mauve-ing – a muted mauve.

Michelle Mismas said, “We wanted to infuse the collection with what we saw at Fashion Week: a retro tomato red lip at Tibi; the luxe browns, mauves and steel blues of Reem Acra; the recurring palettes of chic grays from designers like Badgley Mischka.” Celebrity manicurist Elle added, “For this collection, we were excited to collaborate with Michelle on reinventing colors and textures to come up with something totally new for nails—this collection boasts unique twists on colors and combinations that are truly firsts for the industry.”

The polishes are $8 per bottle. And, as always, Barielle has a buy 2 get 1 free promotion. For color swatches, visit All Lacquered Up.
