Last night, Michelle Obama nailed her Democratic National Convention speech, but it was her manicure that stole the show. Her nails – painted in a smoky blue (that just so happened to match the hem of her Tracy Reese dress) – nearly broke Twitter.
Okay, I exaggerate…but people were going cray cray trying to guess what brand and shade the F.L.O.T.U.S. was sporting.
Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Executive VP & Artistic Director for OPI, thinks she might know the answer. (more…)
Colour Riche Nail shades (l to r): park ave luncheon, broadway boogie, till the sun comes up, hudson sunset, downtown chic, brownie points. For Colour Riche Le Gloss shades, see below.
As a beauty blogger, sometimes I contact brands to request products I would like to try or products readers have requested that I review. But sometimes, products that I never knew existed – and are a million times better than anything I could’ve asked for – just show up on my doorstep. Today was that kind of day.
I returned from a long day at work to be greeted by a goody box from L’Oreal Paris. Inside was their brand new New York Nudes Collection, a sophisticated limited-edition range that includes six flesh-toned shades of Colour Riche Nail and coordinating Colour Riche Le Gloss. These modern shades – from soft ivory to rich ebony – beautifully complement the unique tonalities of women of all skin tones – creating a flawless nude look.
This is, hands down, my favorite nail polish color ever. I only own 9 colors of polish, and I recently had to buy a new bottle of Sephora by OPI in Opening Night because I had used all of mine up. Every single time I wear this polish I get compliments on it. Daneen asks what color it is so often that it has become a running joke.
This is a perfect cool weather manicure color. It is unexpected yet classic, and dark without being black.
Happy Monday, y’all. I know Mondays can be a total drag, which is why I waited to announce the SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish Giveaway winners today. For the following readers, their week is off to a SensatioNail start.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today and here’s what’s on my wish list:
bebe Mixed Media Trench Coat, $119 (after sale: $198)
When I received the Anniversary Sale catalog a few weeks back and spied this trench, it was love at first sight. The faux-leather sleeves are FIERCE and I can’t resist an asymmetrical zipper, so if this ends up fitting (sadly, it doesn’t come in Petite sizes), I’m bringing this bad girl home.
DV by Dolce Vita ‘Folly’ Bootie, $66.90 (after sale: $99.95)
Again…another love-at-first-glance situation (it was also in the catalog). Give me a haircalf bootie in an animal print with an exposed zipper and I’m a happy gal. I don’t really need this boot, but I want it. Truly, madly, deeply.
Hue Denim Leggings, $25.90 (after sale: $39)
Come fall and winter, I live in leggings – and Hue makes some of the highest quality, affordable and fashion forward styles. I already own two pairs of these leggings and I love them (my mom and sister own pairs too). What makes them a must-have is how they suck you in and make your legs and butt look firm and toned. It’s like a denim legging pair of Spanx. Speaking of Spanx… (more…)
I’m not very good at subtle nail polish. I never get a french manicure – too stuffy for me – and I never really got into the habit of using pale pink or nude polish. My nails are either bare, sporting a coat of clear polish, or covered in a great color. I think of nail polish as an accessory – why be boring?!
My allegiance to bright polishes was swayed when I tried Thanks a Windmillion from OPI’s Holland collection. This pale sage green is gorgeous, and looks extra interesting when paired with a matte top coat. I wore this religiously all spring, and am looking forward to bringing it back in the fall to contrast all of my go-to dark colors.
