Zoya MATTEVELVET Collection For Fall 2009

Okay, I realize that summer hasn’t yet arrived. But Zoya has some exciting news for fall 2009, and it’s impossible for me to keep my big mouth shut until July. Just can’t do it.

After working with hundreds of matte formulations and color options, the Zoya color experts have just announced three limited edition MATTEVELVET shades for fall.

Loredana: gunmetal gray matte shimmer
Dovima: black matte shimmer
Posh: wine matte shimmer

Designed to appeal to a multitude of matte color trend lovers (including every metro mod, vintage stylista, retro pin up, goth beauty, street chic fashionista and color junkie out there), MATTEVELVET shades deliver the new color of fashion. Zoya’s exclusive blend of matte base and subtle shimmer result in utterly wearable and truly stylish nail polish.

MATTEVELVET is not intended to be worn with a base coat, top coat or speed dryer of any kind. And due to the unique matte formulation, the color isn’t as long-wearing as Zoya’s traditional nail color.

MATTEVELVET will be available starting June 1, 2009 and retails for $6 per bottle.

OPI Colorcopia: Your Old Faves Are Back For A Limited Time

Today, I met up with my Mom and she was sporting the most gorgeous magenta mani. When I asked the color, she said, “It’s OPI Kinky in Helsinki. I think it’s new.”

The name was vaguely familiar, but I knew that the shade hadn’t been new for at least a couple of years. So I did some research and found that my mom, while misinformed, was on the right track.

OPI’s new Colorcopia collection is a limited edition collection celebrating over 20 years of OPI favorites. Best sellers from the last 20 years of OPI nail lacquer are back to celebrate OPI’s 20th anniversary.

The Colorcopia lineup includes:

Berry Berry Broadway (New York City Collection, 2000)
A brilliant berry, bright as the Broadway lights.

Cancun Fiesta (OPI Nail Lacquer Launch, 1989)
Rich warm pink worth celebrating!

Copper Mountain Copper (Winter Resort Collection, 1995)
Take a “peak” at this coppery-wine shade.

D.C. Cherry Blossom (9091 Collection, 1990)
A vivid cherry-pink that’s politically correct.

Florentine Fuchsia (International Collection, 1991)
Pink-red with the accent on beautiful.

French Bordeaux (International Collection, 1991)
A rich, full-bodied red.

Kinky in Helsinki (European Collection, 2002)
A wild magenta that warms even the coldest nights.

Mediterranean Moonlight (Mediterranean Collection, 1994)
A light shade of gleaming caramel.

Purple-opolis (Greek Isles Collection, 2004)
The Parthenon of all purples- a vibrant violet.

Sahara Sapphire (Painted Desert Collection, 1998)
A radiant violet-blue, chilled by the desert night.

Shootout at the O.K. Coral (American Collection, 1995)
A pink-peach that’s way more than okay!

Venus di Violet (Collezione Italiana, 2001)
A delicate, opalescent violet that’s a true work of art.

Recessionista’s Fabuless Pick of the Week: Sally Hansen La Cross Eco-Friendly Nail Boards

Sally Hansen La Cross Eco-Friendly Nail Boards ($.99 each) are the first line of eco-friendly professional size nail files.

They offer the same nail shaping benefits as a traditional nail board while protecting the environment. Unlike standard professional boards made with a plastic core, layers of foam and a coating of artificial abrasives, eco-boards are made with recycled and natural materials, including a core of pressed paper for rigidity and a coating of natural mineral abrasives.

The line includes four boards: All Purpose, Fragile/Delicate Nails, Artificial and Hard Nails, and Natural Nails.

Available at drugstores nationwide.

New From Revlon: Scented Nail Polish!

Just in time for summer, Revlon releases Fruitful Temptations – a limited-edition collection of scented nail polishes. Each shade has a matching fruit fragrance.

The 8 shades are inspired by the freshness of exotic summer fruits and infused with succulent tropical scents. Each fruit shade has a matching fruit scent when the enamel is dry.

Available in Coconut Crush, Mad About Mango, Pretty In Papaya, Sublime Strawberry, Raspberry Rapture, Mon Cherry, Passionate Fruit, and Not So Blue-Berry.

Gray and White French Manicure

So I was just messing around with my new Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen and created this awesome gray and white version of a French mani; the base coat is MAC Hello Kitty Nail Lacquer in On The Prowl.

What I love about Sally Hansen’s new pens is that, if I make a mistake, the pigment wipes right off and I can start all over again…ideal for perfectionists like myself. And once I’m satisfied, I just seal the deal with a clear top coat. Genius!
