If You Have Hair, The Wet Brush is a Must Have

For years, I have used an oversized wide-tooth comb to detangle my notoriously impossible to detangle post-shampoo hair. The amount of hair that would get caught in the teeth was somewhat alarming. But I chalked it up to the fact that I only wash my hair once a week - so maybe the hair loss really wasn't all that CONTINUE READING

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Cover April Issue of Vogue

Welp, folks, it looks like Kanye finally wore Anna Wintour down and got his baby mama a coveted Vogue cover. So the rumors were true. There was buzz a few months back that Kim would cover the fashion bible, but then everyone assumed it would be a foreign Vogue - given Anna's alleged aversion to all things Kardashian. mmwmd Makeup Mondays With Mario: Natural Beauty

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Dear Mario,
I’m writing for advice on eco-friendly/natural/organic beauty products and makeup. I want to incorporate some “green” products into my routine, but I don’t know where to start. I’m not interested in granola-crunchy stuff made out of hemp that smells like patchouli. I want high quality products that work as well as my regular products, but are also good for my body and the earth. Please share any favorite brands or products. Thanks.
-Linda
PS – I’m a big fan – so basically whatever you recommend, I’m going to buy.

Linda,

There are definitely great eco-friendly, organic beauty products out there for you to use and enjoy – and I think in the future we’ll be seeing a lot more beauty companies going green as well.

One of my personal faves is Josie Maran Cosmetics. Her line of makeup is very eco-friendly and the products deliver beautifully as true makeup should. Aside from being good for our environment, Josie’s makeup has tons of benefits for your skin. Most of her products are made with Argan Oil which, thanks to Josie, is becoming very popular for its healing abilities.

As a makeup artist working on sets and photo shoots, I tend to use product that has great pigment and textures over products that are eco-friendly or organic. But Josie’s line totally delivers. Of course, I have to mention the Bear Naked Wipes that I can’t live without. They are, hands down, the best makeup wipes ever! Other great natural brands I like are Tarte, Korres and Bare Escentuals.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

xo,
Mario

eos+lip+balm+smooth+sphere Recessionistas Fabuless Pick of the Week: eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres

If the thought of sticking your bacteria-laden fingers in a pot of lip balm/gloss doesn’t appeal to you, I have an excellent (and economical) solution.

ed+westwick+eos+lip+balm+smooth+sphere Recessionistas Fabuless Pick of the Week: eos Lip Balm Smooth SpheresNew Lip Balm Smooth Spheres from eos have this cool, ergonomic packaging that bridges the gap between high-end lip balms and chapsticks. And the USDA certified organic formula is enriched with hydrating ingredients (Vitamin A, shea butter, and jojoba oil). Available in three delish flavors (Summer Fruit is my fave…and it’s pink, natch), these balms will only set you back a couple of bucks.

I love ‘em. Chuck Bass loves ‘em. You (and your wallet) are gonna love ‘em too!

Lip Balm Smooth Spheres are now available at evolutionofsmooth, drugstore.com and will soon be available at Walgreens (July), Rite Aid (July), SpaceNK (August) and Duane Reed (August).
