Beautiful Things My Mother Taught Me

Mom and me, circa 1979 Disclosure: This post is sponsored by CoverGirl. Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps. I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. My New Arm Candy: Rebecca Minkoff Swing Bag

After beauty products, handbags are my secondary addiction. But when it comes to arm candy, I have discriminating taste. For me, the perfect handbag seamlessly marries fashion with function, is handcrafted from high-quality materials, has really unique hardware and is classic but edgy - all at the same time. I don't like to carry the of-the-moment "it" bag. I CONTINUE READING

prada candy Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Prada Candy Eau de Parfum Gift Set

This Christmas, give the gift of Candy. Not sugar plums or candy canes. I’m talking about another sweet treat.

If Prada Candy isn’t on your recipient’s wish list, it’s because she hasn’t smelled it yet. With notes of white musks, noble benzoin and caramel, Prada Candy isn’t overwhelmingly saccharine, as the name might imply. Powder tempers the sugar, giving this gourmand a classic sophistication.

Prada Candy Eau de Parfum Gift Set Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Prada Candy Eau de Parfum Gift SetYou could buy the 1.7 oz bottle for $80. Or for $2 more, you could pick up the Prada Candy Eau de Parfum Gift Set, which includes an eau de parfum (1.7 oz.), body lotion (2.5 oz.) and mini eau de parfum (0.24 oz.).

prada infusion dIris eau de parfum absolue Prada Infusion dIris Absolue

Prada Infusion d’Iris Eau de Parfum is one of my signature scents. In 2007, when I gifted Mama Spoiled Pretty with a bottle for Christmas, I was seduced by its charm, and I’ve been wearing it ever since. In fact, I carry a full-sized bottle in my handbag. So when Prada announced Infusion d’Iris Absolue Eau de Parfum, a sequel to the award-winning original, I couldn’t wait to get a whiff.

Unfortunately, it was originally only sold at Neiman Marcus. Neiman is a little rich for my blood, so I it took me a while to get my my hands on one of the gold-adorned bottles. But, in the past few months, I’ve noticed the perfume popping up at other stores (Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s) – so I recently reached out to my friends at Nordstrom to request a sample. They happily obliged, so I’m now able to bring you this long-awaited review. CONTINUE READING

spoiled pretty best beauty buys 1024x799 Best Beauty BuysI love beauty. But what I love more is introducing women to beauty products that they never knew existed but will change their lives. That’s why I started Spoiled Pretty, after all.

versace yellow diamond 1024x665 Versace Yellow Diamond GiveawayI have a very discriminating nose, which is why a lot of fragrance reviews don’t see the light of day on the pages of Spoiled Pretty. I have a few favorites (Hanae Mori Butterfly, Prada Infusion d’Iris, Kai, Philosophy Amazing Grace, L’Instant de Guerlain, Carol’s Daughter Sugar-Dipped Vanilla) – but most perfumes don’t impress me enough to warrant a review.

So the fact that I’m posting about Yellow Diamond should tell you that I’m definitely impressed with Versace’s latest olfactory offering. CONTINUE READING

Kai Perfume Oil

For the longest time, I’ve had a $50 gift card to Barneys New York. 50 bucks doesn’t go far at Barneys which is why it took me so long to get my virtual shop on. But recently, I decided to cash it in on a bottle of Kai Perfume Oil – and let me tell you, while the bottle is tiny ($48 gets you 1/8 oz), this was money very well spent.

Kai’s perfume oil is a blend of fresh gardenias and white exotic flowers made with essential oils in a convenient and easy to use roll-on vial. Whenever I wear it and catch a whiff of myself, I’m instantly transported to an exotic island paradise. I just want to LIVE in this fragrance. Kai is the perfect warm weather perfume and I’ve already packed it away in my bag for my trip to Miami later this week.

Since creator Gaye Straza launched the line in 1999, Kai has established a cult following – including celebs Cate Blanchett, Mary J. Blige, Pink, Giuliana Rancic, Naomi Watts and Reese Witherspoon. Kai can add Daneen Baird to that list because I’m hooked and fully intend on adding to my Kai collection (I just added the body wash and body butter to my beauty wish list).
