I’m home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers – all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don’t know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I’m channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it’s damn near impossible for me to change the station.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I caught a demonstration from a beauty brand I’d never heard of: Tatcha. Victoria Tsai, the brand’s creator, was talking about the inspiration behind the brand (ancient Geisha skincare traditions) and demonstrating some skincare products – and she had my undivided attention. And I’m not easily impressed. I was this close to ordering, but I’m sleep-deprived and ended up passing out before I got a chance to order. The next week, I was so preoccupied that I forgot about Tatcha – until they sent me an email. They offered to send me some products to sample. And after using them for the past few weeks, I am ADDICTED. No…seriously. I now have a legitimate Tatcha habit. (more…)
I can’t believe how late I am to the St. Ives Apricot Scrub partay.
St. Ives Apricot Scrub is a perennial award winner (it’s like the Meryl Streep of the skin care world) and beauty gurus rave about it. I recently tried it for the first time and after I marveled at my baby butt smooth face, I immediately started kicking myself for waiting so long to give it a try.
The scrub exfoliates dull skin away for a smooth and radiant look. The 100 percent natural exfoliants (which include apricots and walnuts) are known to brighten skin; corn kernel meal, which is known to improve skin’s appearance, increases cell turnover. The classic scrub was also newly formulated to be 100 percent sulfate-free.
And now it comes in four formulas, so you can choose the one that meets your skin’s unique needs. (more…)

Pregnancy hormones have sent my hair follicles into overdrive. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve got a 5 o’clock shadow on my legs at, like, 2pm. And thanks to the ungodly heat and humidity in Philly right now, hiding my grizzly gams under long pants isn’t exactly appealing…especially considering that I’m having one long hot flash right now.
So I recently got reacquainted with my favorite scrub – KP Duty by DERMAdoctor – and it gave me the closest shave ever. Yeah, using it adds an extra few minutes to your shower routine. But it exfoliates so well that it allows your razor to cut super close so that you can go longer between shaves – which is great for me because:
a) no one actually enjoys shaving and
b) in my current condition, the act of shaving my legs is like pregnant Cirque du Soleil.
Oh, and you won’t be able to stop petting your legs because they’ll be ridiculously smooth. I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. KP Duty Body Scrub runs circles around that scrub you’ve got sitting on the edge of your tub.
