* Apply MAC Eye Shadow in Contrast to the crease, starting on the outside of the eye and working inward.

Estelle: American Boy

Just in case this tune hasn’t yet found its way to your neck of the woods, allow me to inject some cool into your life.

Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day.
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You’ll be my American Boy.

Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

The Gossip Girl gals may not all get along, but there’s one thing they agree on – a smoky eye paired with a soft glossy lip.

GG+Blair Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

GG+Serena Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

GG+Georgina Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

GG+Vanessa Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

My favorite look of the finale belonged to Blair. Normally, the combination of messy updo, braids, and Jennifer Behr Patent Orchid Skinny Headband would spell overkill. But on Blair, it was pitch perfect. Serena and Georgina? Meh.

And while I liked Vanessa’s cascade of curls, her dress was a mess. I mean, if you’re invited to attend high society nuptials, don’t show up in an frock homesewn by your BFF’s little sister. It kinda reminded me of the Gordon Gartrell episode of The Cosby Show…except that, in this case, Nessa had no idea how ridiculous she looked. It’s no wonder Nate called it quits.

Updo How-To

For their big day, many women choose to wear their hair in an updo. This video demonstrates how to create a particularly stunning style. So if you’re a bride-to-be looking for inspiration for your wedding–day hairstyle – this how-to should prove helpful. And be sure to check out the model’s glossy lip…gorgeous!

Enjoy.

Desirable Giveaway

In February, Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins Max and Emme. Congrats, J.Lo! That same month, she also debuted her sixth fragrance – Deseo.

Deseo Desirable Giveaway“Deseo means desire…wish…dream…things that you want. It just seemed perfect for this time in my life and what I am communicating to people. Which is to inspire them, and to dream, and to want more, and to never stop reaching for the things they want to accomplish in their lives – that’s really the sentiment behind it.” – Jennifer Lopez

Deseo is a floral, woody scent – inspired by the smell and feel of the air during a midnight walk in Jennifer’s flower garden, moments before a thunderstorm. The scent of orange blossom, jasmine and mimosa mingles with cedar wood and wet earth radiating energy and warmth.

The notes include:

A Radiant Top
Watery Bamboo Leaves, Garden Yuzu, Sicilian Bergamot, Freesia

A Voluptuous Heart
Star Jasmine, Pink Geranium Flower, Orange Blossom, French Mimosa

A Natural Base
Warm Amber, Oak moss, Sensual Musks, Creamy Sandalwood, Atlas Cedar wood, Patchouli, Mineral Accord

This was a very personal project for Jennifer, since it really focuses on going back to her roots, her Latin culture – so her approval was extremely important throughout the entire process. Jennifer was extremely involved in the print and television shoot, in which she worked with creative director Oliver van Doorne, and photographer Peter Lindbergh to make sure they were getting out of the shoot exactly what they wanted to convey in the ad – a sense of unrefined luxury.

If you desire Deseo, you’re in luck. Five lucky readers will win the Eau de Parfum spray (3.4 fl oz) and Desirable Body Lotion (6.7 fl oz) – retail value is $83.

To enter the giveaway, visit the jenniferlopezbeauty.com and find out the names of Jennifer’s first 5 fragrances. Then send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com – be sure to include the answers and your full name. The subject line should read “Deseo Giveaway.”

The contest ends at 9 pm EST on Sunday, March 9th. Winners will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, March 10th, I’ll announce the winners’ names. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. & Canadian residents. Good luck!

Salon Selectives Is Back

salonselectives Salon Selectives Is Back
Remember Salon Selectives? The popular brand of the ‘80s and ‘90s that made women feel like they just stepped out of a salon? Well, Salon Selectives is hoping to capitalize on nostalgia and get back into the hair grooming game.

“The re-introduction of Salon Selectives represents a great opportunity for our company,” said Dr. Eugene Zeffren, CEO of SSB, the company that distributes and markets Salon Selectives. “Our research shows that the brand still has over 80 percent awareness among our target consumers. These women don’t just remember the Salon Selectives name, they retain a host of other positive associations, including the apple scent and the customized hair care message – they can even sing the jingle.”

Starting in March 2008, Salon Selectives will be returning to the shelves with updated packaging and new formulas – but will retain trademarks such as pink bottles, apple fragrance, and customization.

There are 18 items in the line, with three shampoos, five conditioners and 10 styling and treatment products – ten of which are now available for purchase on drugstore.com. And according to Women’s Wear Daily, the marketing plan includes TV and print ads that will run startng beginning in April.

I so hope they resurrect the old jingle. Speaking of which, check out this old-school Salon Selectives commercial I dug up on YouTube. Perhaps this will jog your memory…

MAC Viva Glam VI Lipglass: Fergie Lied To Me

A few weeks ago, I told you about the special edition Viva Glam VI Lipglass that Fergie helped to create. This is what she had to say about the shade: “It is a pink-tinged mauve that’s very soft and will look good on a lot of different skin tones — it’s the universal easy color to wear.”

But when I visited my local MAC counter this past Saturday, I discovered that I must be the exception to the rule – because it didn’t look good on me. Pale and pasty are the words that come to mind, actually.

However, I did purchase the regular Viva Glam VI Lipglass – which is absolutely gorgeous. The MAC website perfectly describes this shade as a “warm plum with multi-reflective, multi-dimensional pearl.” Oddly enough, I think that the regular version, and not Fergie’s creation, is the one with universal appeal.

MAC’s Viva Glam VI (regular and special edition) are available at MAC counters everywhere, and on the MAC website.
