I still don’t have any plans for NYE. It might be a quiet, romantic dinner with my hubby. Or a raucous celebration with friends at a bar. Or I might just sit on the couch and blog my way into the new year. Whichever it is, here’s the makeup look I will be rocking.
I didn’t have a particular look I was going for. It really just started with Diane Brill’s Liquid Eye Liner in Lace Diamonds – and evolved from there. I didn’t expect to go so over-the-top. But once I started, I found it hard to stop…hence, my glittery glamtastic eyelids that rival the Times Square Ball in sparkle.
Once I finished piling it all on, I was afraid it was a little too Amanda Lepore for my liking. But it has since grown on me, and I hope you’ll agree that it looks quite pretty in pictures.

Step Three – Cheeks: Dot DuWop Blush Therapy (in Hug) on apples of cheeks, then blend with fingertips.
Step Four – Highlighting: Dot Freeze 24/7 Freeze & Go down the bridge of the nose and on cheekbones, then gently tap with pad of finger until blended.
Step Five – Lips: Finish off the look with a few swipes of MAC Lustreglass – I used Budding, but I think it’s been discontinued. Venetian is somewhat similar, but tad bit deeper – though still sheer.
That’s the recipe. I hope you had as much fun reading about the look as I had creating it! If you’re looking for more NYE makeup ideas, my friend Marina at Makeup Loves Me has a bunch.
So with that, I’m going to conclude this post with the immortal words of my man, Prince. Every NYE, you’re bound to hear “1999” at least a couple times, so allow me to introduce you to another oldie, but goodie – a little ditty Prince recorded with Sheena Easton. Remember her? “Sugar Walls”? Okay, now I’m showing my age. Just watch the video.
Looking to upgrade from that Ikea pencil cup you use to store your makeup brushes? Well, look no farther than Paul & Joe’s Brush Holder.
With its vintage, yet modern look and chrysanthemum design, you’ll want to display it on your vanity – rather than hide in the recesses of your bathroom cabinet. This is a beauty accessory necessity for the stylish, not the stylus.
Also worth checking out are the chic, desktop wallpapers available on the website – inspired by prints used in the Paul & Joe 2007 Fall/Winter line.
And, for the hell of it, here’s a little Beyonce (cuz we don’t see her nearly enough)…
Just wanted to share the exciting news that Spoiled Pretty was featured on Philadelphia’s WPVI –TV news (channel 6 – ABC affiliate) last night!!! My name was mispronounced, but I’m used to that. It turned out great, if I do say so myself…and I couldn’t wait to share with all of you.
If you’re interested in watching the segment, the video is up on the station’s website.
I’ve been singing Fergie’s new song, Clumsy, for two days straight. It’s so infectious – I can’t get it out of my brain. The equally addictive video is below. Dean and Dan Caten (of Dsquared) make an appearance, as do some well-placed MAC products. Apparently, the new Viva Glam spokeswoman doesn’t waste any time assuming her duties.
And how fantabulous is the inky nail situation she’s got going on?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve undoubtedly heard about Oprah’s Favorite Things of 2007 list. Though Oprah made some fine choices, I have one recommendation for the media mogul.
If I had a list, I’d call it ‘The D-List’ (original, I know) – and everything on it would be from Jaqua’s Buttercream Frosting line of products. I’ve been using the Buttercream Frosting Exfoliating Body Polish, Shower Crème, and Hand Crème for a couple of weeks, and my enthusiasm has not waned. In fact, my fondness grows stronger every day. Not only do the Buttercream Frosting products pamper my parched skin, they smell like heaven – a sweet tooth’s version of heaven, anyway.
Like vanilla frosting with a hint of fresh strawberries, Jaqua’s Buttercream Frosting products smell so much like the real thing, I have to remind myself that they’re not edibile. I can only hope that Jaqua is developing hair care, shaving cream, toothpaste, antiperspirant, and contact lens solution…so that every square inch of me can smell saccharinely sweet.
Spoiled Pretty tip: while you’re on the Jaqua website, sign up to become a Jaqua VIP (no purchase necessary, and it’s free). Be the first to find out about new Jaqua products, special discounts and best of all, freebie offers only available to Jaqua VIP members.
Did you know that our skin absorbs up to 64% of what we put on it? It’s a scary statistic, considering the ingredients found in most cosmetic products. Juice Beauty prefers to do things the natural way, using certified organic ingredients in their paraben-, fragrance-, and petroleum-free formulas. This line of cleansers, moisturizers, masks, and treatments uses freshly-squeezed organic juice concentrates as its base, not water – so products are rich in potent antioxidants, essential vitamins, phytonutrients and hydroxy acids. Juice Beauty gets your skin glowing while leaving you with peace of mind.
My favorite Juice Beauty product is the Green Apple Peel – Sensitive Skin. This powerful (yet gentle) hydroxy acid complex of certified organic apple, lemon, grape juices, and raw cane sugar exfoliates and brightens for visibly improved skin tone and texture – and it smells good enough to eat!
If you’re a bit hesitant to spend $39 for 2 ounces of the Green Apple Peel, go to juicebeauty.com and pick up a sample for $4.75. Trust me, you’ll be back for more.
Their motto is: “Try it because it’s organic. Use it because it works.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
