Check back often, as I will be frequently updating with fabulous finds.
BLUSH: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush is a new long-wearing, solar-baked blush that lasts up to 12 hours. No kidding. This cheek color lasts until you take it off.
BRONZER: LORAC TANtalizer Baked Matte Satin Bronzer SPF 15, which has a mineral-based, baked formula that goes on silky-smooth for a glow that lasts. It can be used wet or dry, depending on the intensity you desire, and is great for contouring and highlighting. It might just be the best bronzer I’ve ever used.
BRONZER: Lightly mist your face with Guerlain Terracotta Spray Bronzing Powder Mist and blend with a foundation brush for look like you just got back from some sun drenched isle. It’s so gorgeous, words simply won’t do.
CONCEALER: Developed with plastic surgeons and infused with anti-aging ingredients, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-aging Concealer is full-coverage but never creases, cracks or makes you look older. It blends seamlessly with your foundation for a more radiant-looking, flawless and air-brushed-looking complexion.
EYE PENCIL: It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil is truly universal because it transforms and adjusts to all brow hair colors. Apply lighter, softer strokes to match lighter color hair, including blonde and silver. Press harder for darker hair, including medium brown to black. As a finishing touch, lightly brush through brows with the spooly brush for a natural, polished look. The oval shaped tip creates a natural looking, believable brow and is perfect for both thin and thick brows. But the best thing about this pencil is its staying power. It’s water- and smudge-proof. So even if it’s so hot that your face is melting off – like that evil dude from Raiders of The Lost Ark, your eyebrows will stay put.
EYELINER: I love me some Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils. The Urban Decay website bills these babies as “the best eye pencils ever, ever, ever.” And it’s truth. Every word of it. In these trying economic times, a woman needs an eyeliner that she can depend on. And this one, my friends, is as good as it gets. If I had to pick my favorite beauty product of all time (which is so hard…it’s like picking your favorite child), Urban Decay’s eyeliners are it.
EYE SHADOW: There’s a reason why beauty junkies rave about MAC Eye Shadow. It’s heavily pigmented, so you get a nice color payout. It applies and blends like a dream. And whatever shade you’re looking for, I guarantee they have it…and it’s better than you imagined. I, personally, own 150+ MAC Eyeshadows.
EYE SHADOW PALETTE: Whenever I put on makeup and decide to do up my eyes, I always find myself reaching for the, Urban Decay Naked Palette and the Naked2 Palette. They are my favorite eye kits of all time. With 12 gorgeous neutrals that look gorgeous on anyone, you can mix and match to create office-appropriate eyes or sexy, party-perfect peepers. And when I travel and have limited space in my makeup bag, these palettes are the only eye shadows I bring along for the ride. Click here for tips on choosing the best one for your coloring.
EYE SHADOW PRIMER: stops vagabond eye makeup dead in its tracks. The primer works in three ways: eye shadow and liner last longer, color is more vibrant, and there’s no creasing. All you do is swipe it on your lids before applying eye makeup. It dries almost instantly – and a little goes a very long way. I don’t apply eye makeup without this magic potion.
FOUNDATION: For the past four years, I’ve been in a monogamous relationship with NARS Sheer Matte and Sheer Glow Foundation. Seriously, I haven’t worn any other foundation. They are the BEST. I’ve never found such a perfect match for my complexion (I’m Cadiz, btw) and every time I wear this product, people – even strangers – tell me I have the most amazing skin. I wear Sheer Matte in the Summer (when I’m oily) and I wear Sheer Glow in the Winter (when I’m dry).
FOUNDATION PRIMER: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer is the first step in my makeup application routine. Worn under foundation, this creamy gel creates a smooth, flawless canvas for application, allowing foundation to glide on easily and stay fresh and color-true for hours. It’s ideal for oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin types because it helps mattify and control oil. There are also formulas for normal skin, dry skin and those wanting a radiant finish.
LIP BALM: I use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick to moisturize and soothe my dry, chapped lips year-round—but especially during the fall and winter. You can also use it on other dry area – like elbows, knees and cuticles. Plus, the stick smells just like a frothy black and white milkshake.
LIP BALM: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, a natural humectant, for delectable and dependable moisture. This hydrating treatment nourishes, protects and plumps the lips – while providing essential, year-round protection from damaging UV rays. It’s available in a bunch of sheer tints, but they all smell/taste like lemony sugar sweetness.
LIP STAIN: I heart CoverGirl Outlast Lipstains. They are pure genius. They’re like magic markers for your lips. I top them off with a little clear gloss and the color lasts for 6+ hours…so I’m looking pretty all day long without touchups (but it comes off easily with makeup remover).
LIPGLOSS: I’ve never met a lipgloss I like more than MAC Lipglass. From the application to the finish to the vanilla scent, these glosses are pretty much perfect. The gloss comes in clear and a multitude of shades.
LIPSTICK: Again, it doesn’t get better than MAC Lipstick. Whatever shade/finish your little heart desires cane found in their collection. And when you shop, don’t play it safe. Try something new and you’ll be surprised how it can quickly become a staple in your makeup bag. For everyday, I like Captive, Syrup and Polished Up. When I want to paint the town red, I reach for Ruby Woo and Lady Danger.
LIPSTICK: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick‘s creamy formula glides on smoothly, depositing richly pigmented color. How it looks in the tube is exactly how it looks on your lips. What you see is definitely what you get. And when it fades, you’re left with a gorgeous stain – not an embarrassing ring around the lips. There are 23 shades, ranging from effortless neutrals to bold brights. The brights, in my opinion, are the must-haves. When it comes to lip products, I’m somewhat of a color-phobe. I tend to stick to natural shades and reserve a bold lip for special occasions. But Revolution’s brights wear so beautifully, I now feel totally confident rocking a bold lip on the regular.
NAIL POLISH: Essie and OPI are my favorite nail polish brands for four reasons: 1) The formula is nicely pigmented and applies evenly; 2) When applied correctly (with base and topcoats), your mani lasts a good week with minimal chipping; 3) the range of classic and on-trend shades is impressive and 4) the price point (around $8 per bottle) is wallet friendly.
POWDER: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder enhances the look of foundation without a trace of color and prolongs makeup wear. This invisible silky powder is infused with Photochromic Technology to diffuse light and adjust to new sources of light throughout the day. Fine lines, wrinkles and pores optically fade as skin is visibly smoothed. Soft, silky and luxurious to the touch, this weightless formula applies evenly and blends effortlessly. Ideal for touch-ups, it helps regulate shine and seamlessly sets foundation. If you’re getting your picture taken or you’re planning on taking some selfies, make sure you apply some of this powder first.
TINTED MOISTURIZER: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer created this product to give skin a healthy ‘no-makeup’ look with a soft hint of color that evens and enhances without hiding the skin. The oil-free lightweight formula provides ideal protection from the sun’s harmful, damaging rays with broad spectrum SPF 20 UVB/UVA sunscreen. Perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive or oily skin.
