This is, hands down, my favorite nail polish color ever. I only own 9 colors of polish, and I recently had to buy a new bottle of Sephora by OPI in Opening Night because I had used all of mine up. Every single time I wear this polish I get compliments on it. Daneen asks what color it is so often that it has become a running joke.
This is a perfect cool weather manicure color. It is unexpected yet classic, and dark without being black.
Pop art pioneer, filmmaker, and publisher, Andy Warhol was one of the most important visual artists of the 20th century. He joked “art is whatever you can get away with.” A painting, a movie, a TV commercial, an album cover, or an interview with a movie star. For Andy, art could be anything, but whatever he did, he did it as if it were fine art. He made paintings with a photo booth and ‘Screen Tests’ – movies that barely moved. He made an 8-hour movie starring the Empire State Building. He changed the way we see the world.
Andy Warhol’s world has been inspiring François Nars for years. Now NARS introduces a limited edition collection in the spirit of Andy Warhol. From the formulas and shades to the packaging and names, every element of the collection evokes François Nars’ take on the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol.

Tis the season for weekend getaways. Got any fun and fab plans for Labor Day? When you’re packing for your summer sojourn, remember that you’re going away for a weekend, not a lifetime. Yours truly has a penchant for over-packing… and as a repeat offender, I’ve picked up a few tips over the years. Here are a few to help lighten your load and travel like a pro:
* Don’t choose a big bag for a trip that will only last a few short days. If you pick one that’s too large, you’ll be tempted to fill it up. Instead, select a small to mid-sized overnight bag and edit your list of trip essentials.
* Weekend getaways are all about breaking routines and doing something different and fun. When you think of your trip in these terms, you’ll see that it’s not necessary to bring all of the beauty products you typically use on a daily basis.
* When packing, consider your destination, the weather forecast, your planned activities, and the outfits that you’ll be wearing. These factors will help to guide your beauty products choices.
* When it comes to products, think beauty that does double duty.
Here are some products I recommend you pack to beat the heat and keep you looking hot at your destination:
Some women think that they have to choose a lotion that feels good or one that works well. Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Lotion does both. Its lightweight formula feels good on the skin (especially in the hot summer months) and does good for your skin. It delivers serious moisture – hydrating for 8 hours – and imparts a fresh scent. In a blind survey, 87% of consumers said they would consider switching their existing lotion to Vaseline Total Moisture. CONTINUE READING
This mineral powder make up system is something that I have heard about for a long time, but was never really interested in trying. My routine of L’Oreal True Match foundation (as concealer) and all over pressed powder worked just fine, and was both convenient and easy.
Recently, my skin decided to completely revolt. My skin is usually normal to combination, I break out in the usual sweaty T-zone places, with the occasional stress zit thrown in for good measure. Suddenly, I was getting dry patches where I am usually oily, being oily where I am usually normal, and was breaking out all over the place for no reason. Fantastic. Though this has been a wicked summer (100+ degree heat wave, anyone?), I knew that I had to change what I was putting on my face every day.
Enter Bare Minerals. I got a starter kit that included a concealer brush, a buffing brush, concealer, foundation, and mineral veil. I was totally skeptical. How was this powder possibly going to cover my dark circles and other imperfections? Wouldn’t I just sweat it off immediately? Was it really going to stick to my face at all in the first place?
I applied concealer under my eyes, and across any breakouts that needed covering. I then buffed the mineral foundation onto my skin, brushing in small circles. I used the equivalent of two “coats” – going over each area twice with a newly dipped brush. I then applied mineral veil, a translucent powder that was supposed to magically keep this all in place. I’m absolutely obsessed with Ann Taylor’s Fall 2012 collection, which is “inspired by the continental glamour of 1960s Paris.” Last month, I posted about the ad campaign – starring Kate Hudson. The first images definitely had me intrigued. And now that the full collection has been revealed, I must admit that the teasers did not disappoint. I’m loving the black and white, pops of color, animal prints, and the sweet, feminine touches (i.e., lace and bows). It’s like someone at Ann Taylor climbed inside of my brain and created a collection just pour moi.
Here’s what’s on my ultimate wardrobe wish list:
This Tie Back Short Sleeve Sweater ($58) is business in the front, cocktail party in the back.
