I have a very discriminating nose, which is why a lot of fragrance reviews don’t see the light of day on the pages of Spoiled Pretty. I have a few favorites (Hanae Mori Butterfly, Prada Infusion d’Iris, Kai, Philosophy Amazing Grace, L’Instant de Guerlain, Carol’s Daughter Sugar-Dipped Vanilla) – but most perfumes don’t impress me enough to warrant a review.
So the fact that I’m posting about Yellow Diamond should tell you that I’m definitely impressed with Versace’s latest olfactory offering. (more…)

Hyperpigmentation is the beauty bane of my existence. Every time I get a pimple, it leaves a dark mark in its wake – whether or not I pick at it. Luckily, I don’t get too many blemishes or else Cruella de Ville might want to make a coat out of me. But even one dark mark is a cause for concern and embarrassment – not to mention they can take months to lighten up.
One mark has taken up residence on my jawline for the past six months. It’s been there for so long, sometimes I just forget about it. That is until I see a photo of myself and cringe at how dark and mole-like it appears. So when a bottle of Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution showed up on my doorstep to review, I was very hopeful. Kiehl’s is one of my favorite skincare brands and their products have yet to disappoint, so I was very hopeful about this new innovation. (more…)

Attention, local ladies. If you’re in the Philadelphia area, here’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss. On Saturday (March 24), makeup artist, Sarah Lucero
, will be at the Sephora
at the King of Prussia Mall. As Stila’s Global Director of Education, Sarah spends half her time traveling and training Stila’s field team on how to use and sell the latest Stila products. From noon until 7:00 p.m., Sarah will be sharing tips and tricks on everything from how to achieve a cat eye swoop to how to best rock a bold lip.
Speaking cat eyes and bold lips, Stila just launched some fabulous new products for Spring that can help you rock those looks. (more…)
Because my hair is overprocessed, dry and damaged, I only wash it about once a week. Which means that when I “do” it, I better do it right – or else my hair will look jacked for the next seven days. Forget a bad hair day; it’s more like a bad hair week for me.
So when I receive hair product samples to review, I’m usually nervous – especially if they’re not from a brand I normally use (e.g., Moroccanoil, Ojon, Phyto, Fekkai, Leonor Greyl). I’m also a hair product snob and I don’t typically shop at mass market retailers for those items. So when a box showed up on my doorstep, filled with the new L’Oreal Paris EverCreme Sulfate-Free Moisture System, I almost dismissed the products altogether and gave them to my friend, Alyssa, to review. L’Oreal Paris recently redesigned all of their cosmetics packaging, and their Colour Riche nail polishes now reside in sleek glass and gold containers.
I was drawn to He Red My Mind, billed as a metallic Valentine Red. This color went on thinly, and did not have the best coverage. A second coat covered the flaws in the first, but then did not dry evenly. I like the color, though, a bright red with pink undertones and a slight gold sheen.
I then put a layer of glitter over the red. I chose Electrify, from the China Glaze Capitol Colors Collection – inspired by The Hunger Games. As a fan of the books, I was really looking forward to what China Glaze would come up with to accurately represent the Districts. A quick plot point without any spoilers – there are 12 Districts in Panem, the world in which The Hunger Games take place. Each of these Districts has a specialty, like fishing, agriculture, or technology. (more…)
